tahhhhaaa! Thats the funniest thing I heard all day!
I wonder if the jet pack is the blow up one............
Um.....
Speechless.
:lol Glad I saw this post...funny stuff!
Looks like an MR helmet to me, look at the pinch...
I've been waiting for it. I guess they were going for the SE promo because they put a hose on the left gaunt missle. Anything worth salvaging other then the helmet, probably not. I am curious on how the boots look close up along with the shin tools. I love how they leave the right gauntlet unclosed for the accurate look :lol
Wonder how many people are going to try and apply for membership in Mercs with this thing. Even if it's made to be a custom...it needs some major work.
For a halloween costume it doesnt look all that bad. It should be no where near that price though. At least it has decent chest armor spacing not like the cluttered oversized look most customs go with.
Eh, "most" no..."some" yes.
Reminds me of that Rubies ST armor that was an epic failure also. If your just gonna buy it for a haloween costume, your better off using trash can armor.
....i may sell my se fett so i can upgrade to this one.......:lol
The sad thing is, they are out of stock so someone's buying them. Good find Darren.
How can they ask $900 for that? Maybe a hundred, maybe.
You know, for an average person doing a quick Halloween costume, that would be awesome!
On a different note... how the heck can they charge so much for it? :doh
AHHGG!:suprise . Now how about some weathering on that costume. I guess if it would've been in the market lets say about 10 years ago, well then it might have been an awesome costume to have. However for that price range oh geeeee....
the sad thing is, the designers must be really hard core star wars nerds, and outlined an incredible suit design, then the rubies crackpot approval team said, "It's nice, but I don't want to spend more then $10 on it"
"Whats going to be the sale price?"
"I don't want little kids wearing this for halloween next year, so let's make it $900 for my amuesment"
To be honest, there are worse in the 501st.
Well, if that's an MR helmet, and it certainly looks like it, then that's half of the price of the whole thing. They just need to shave about $400 off the total price and it might be worth it. Might. That is, if you don't care about much about accuracy. Unfortunately for Rubies, there prolly aren't many who don't care about accuracy AND are willing to pay $900 for a costume. Usually when you are pushing $1000 people start caring about accuracy. Usually.
Rubies costumes never look like what's in the picture. Interested on seeing the final product.
Interested in what seeing the Jet Pack will look like.
It looks pretty good in this picture.
http://www.signaturecostumes.co.uk/s...206%20shop.png
The Jet Pack is inflatable, like the beach ones :lol
I'm joking, I don't know really. :D
I don't know, for a Halloween costume it's not all that bad, it's a whole lot better than their regular Halloween costumes. The thing that has to be kept in mind is that I don't think these are really intended for the hardcore costuming crowd who've pored over picture they could find of Boba Fett and studied every piece of footage to build the most accurate Fett costume possible. These types of costumes are for the people who aren't really costumers and may have seen Fetts, Mandos, and/or Stormtroopers at cons but don't know about sites like this and groups like the 501st and see it their way of getting a costume like they see at the cons not realizing that there's better out there.
The price is a bit high but I bet it's because it's not produced or expected to sell in the same numbers as their regular costumes so they make up for it by charging more. It probably would sell a lot better at half the price, almost $1,000 is an awful lot for something that's mass produced.
It looks bad "as is" .... and for $900 ***, I bought my TE stormtrooper kit for that much, granted I probably put another $200 into it to assemble and boots, bodysuit, gun... ect, but the Fett looks "cheap" but it isn't. Like Fettpride said $199.99 is more like it.
The pack in that smaller photo, looks like a picture of an actual suit, it doesn't look like they had one of the rubies available. Besides, his boots are different in that pic, doubt the person was even wearing a pack.
I can see this as a decent investment for a costume shop that does rentals. Buy it, rent it 2-3 times at $300-400 (which they can get for the nicer rentals) and you've recouped the money. And there's no way one of these would not be rented every year, if not more than once.
But to shell out that much to own privately? Maybe we're all too well versed and snobby about our suits, but I'd think $800-900 would be a lot to pay for something of this questionable quality. On the other hand, Rubies has gotten away with it for years with the old Batman and Robin outfits, the Vader, the Stormie, and now this. They must be doing some kind of research that tells them this would "fly" -- blowup jet pack and all! :lol
Look for them on eBay in a few months for half price, just like the Rubies TK. And wait for the "Help me make my Rubies BF suit better" threads to start popping up here around the same time....
IMHO, the problem is not to see that kind of Boba for Halloween, but is neccesary call it The Supreme Edition?
It's just a Halloween costume as it should be, not a ultrahiperhighsupreme costume design, and I'm sure it's not worth 900$...
But it's just my opinion.
:cheers
i guess special edition is copyrighted lmao or its that marketing thing they're doing were they call it supreme edition so later its referred to as SE fett, tricky lil ones aint they?
Bets on how long it takes before someone applies for the Legion with one of these... with my luck it will be in my garrison!
No, with your look they'll get in. ;-) jk.Quote:

That thing is pretty bad per our standards here at TDH, but truthfully, it would be pretty convincing for anyone who just wanted to go "Hey I want to be Boba Fett" this year and didn't know just how accurate one can get with a little (okay a lot) work.
Heck I wouldn't have known one could do any better six months ago.
Even so, it's insanely overpriced. I wouldn't have paid that. lol
oh noes...
I have a very bad feeling about this
gotta say for who is selling it, i feel its decent. but then after scrolling down and seeing that its $900 (not including shipping) idk how they can justify that. i mean the vest looks like cardboard along with the armor. the armor seems small as well. i woul buy it if it was $100 for the helmet looks decent stock and would be a great cheap alternative for the gauntlets. but still... not as bad as the labeled "screen accurate" don posts. but still pretty cool.
My oh my ... what a TINY cod piece though ;) :lol
FP
I think the flightsuit is the worst looking part of the suit. I bet the parts would look a lot better on a LSFU or skygunbro suit that is properly weathered. Not great, but better,
lol looks better than SFP
I will have to say...this looks better than that generic looking Jango Fett costume that sell for $75
I've already placed an order, overnight first a.m. delivery! :lol
But seriously, bummer, with the lack of options available, I was actually eyeing up those boots and saying to myself, well, attach a set of machined aluminum toe spikes and some nice weathering, you might have a decent alternative, well, there goes that idea! :doh
please put me on the interest list!! pm sent!
I bet this is why Caboots is out of stock...........
I'm kind of interested in seeing what could be salvaged from the suit. Once you trim the Rubies Stormtrooper and replace the helmet, it makes an excellent ROTJ trooper.
All may not be lost..
Well, we have seen worse. I think its pretty good (for Rubies), but 900 is quite a lot of money for what you get.
HOWEVER.... as mentioned this was the only full suite available to buy (from a big company) until now..http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sel.../10/888574.jpg
so i feel all inall its decent however the one shown was on ebay for $70
Just look at those shin tools...amazing craftmanship...:rolleyes
the jet pack painting looks so good :lol
At first I thought that the Supreme Fett wasn't too bad looking, pricey but not bad. But after seeing the pic that slimguy posted up (assuming that it's the Ruby's Supreme) I'd be reluctant to even pay $100 for it. There's nothing supreme about it and there's really nothing salvageable from it except maybe maybe the gauntlets but I'm no Fett expert.
no no the pic slimeguyl posted was what we had before this glorious master piece of expert craftmanship in exper non detail-menship hehehe all joking aside the pic that Slimeguy posted was rubies earlyier version of boba fett the Supreme edition is a step up...er.side step in the line of rubies fett
Not if the rest of us are reduced to wearing these cuz of this!
http://techgeekmalaysia.files.wordpr...-slippers1.jpg
>:
Ok, when I first read GCN's post of pp sent! I rolled on the floor laughing..... I wonder how long it will take before we start seeing what the parts are made from.
That cod piece looks like a cod bikini!
Oh man....and I was buying Boba Maker and Man of War stuff...and making my own parts!!? when i could have just gotten this! It would have eliminated all the hard work and waiting.....DANG!
I'm not to sure what my reaction is going to be if I see a person in this at a con... Would I be like "yeah man... nice suit" or *facepalm*? heh
:skull El1te

Is it just me, or is that a really not-so-dark-tinted visor, and does the guy who's wearing it have his nose smashed up against the front of the visor???:wacko
Yea that's his nose, and he looks to be sporting a goatee or beard to.....:lol
I think his lips are also pressed up against it.
Nah, he's just throwing a kiss at ya. Just like this guy:

or THIS guy:
http://studentpages.scad.edu/~wsmith...seduction2.gif
Yeah baby! MUAH! :lol
:fettesb
:lol:lol:lol
IF it was $100 - $200 I'd consider it for my kids only as a base.
Sorry about raising an older thread, but for those of you interested, here's a huge image of the best Boba Fett costume EVAR!:wacko
Rubies Stupreme Boba Fett
I love the detail! :doh
Enjoy!
-Gren
Hm? I wonder if they meant to make the model showing off the costume look more screen accurate by leaving the right gauntlet shells open ? :lol
Nah. Coincidence I say !
BTW - this new pic you posted really shows for sure - THE BOOTS ARE PHOTOSHOPPED !!! :lol
FP
If we know rubies the production pictures never show what you'll really get when you open the box.
I knocked this before....but then again, there are 501st costumes approved that this honestly looks better than. There was a thread awhile ago about costume checks and how some consider it unfair that the legion now scrutinizes detail...when costumes that are garbage were approved years ago and got away with it.
obviously, this won't be accepted without modification. depending on how it turns out, some of it could be salvaged, just like people have managed to salvage the Vader supreme or TK rubies.
i feel like the jet pack might be saved from the rubies costume, maybe even the gauntlets and helmet for some people.
we'll just have to see how it is when it turns out.
yes, it is ridiculous that the tag is $900....but we all know that a costume company that mass produces something will lack quality....just as even a prop company that mass produces will have some defects in quality...
the MR fett helmet is great with a few mods...many people still don't like it but it can be done.
that being said...i really just would like to see what happens when this hits the shelves...it will be different...i just don't know in which ways and if for better or worse
I was going to post that too :lol
Now my question is, does this costume look as bad for us (Fett fans) as the Rubies Vader looks for Vader fans? Or the Rubies Boba is worst?
I'm pretty sure the MR helmet does NOT come with the Rubies Boba.
I think for a non-serious fan that would be a great halloween costume... however, no one that isnt a serious fan would be willing to pay anything close 900 bucks for a halloween costume... so *shrug* I dont know what to say.
i suspect they will do great as rentals.
Is it just me or do the ankle spats and boots look photoshopped in?
the nose against the visor is priceless:lol
:D
I can finally do finished Boba Fett!
:lol
http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/m...iser/61809.jpg
Photoshopped/ Airbrushed boots......wow.:doh
thats great...funny thing is those sale for 800+...rediculous
It's kind of interesting that there's "NOT" even a 4th shin tool or a 3rd Wookie Braid! As a matter of fact, by the looks of the lighter colored braid, one of the St. Paulie Beer girl's might be missing a pig Tail! :? :lol
I really like the skintight flightsuit around the thighs! :D:D
Anyone know the background to the helmet? In the photo it looks fairly good although with the tapering on the visor looks like theyve just used an MR.
Rubies are renowned for showing off one thing and delivering on another such that I'm half expecting them to ship it with the old cheapo latex DP-style helmet
Cheers
Jez
It looks more like a reshaped and repainted Rubies (DP '95) Helmet, with a NON-movable stalk.
Yeah its not the same. I did this side by side comparison.
Given the way Rubies has produced recently I'm expecting it to be vac-formed but I guess we'll see fairly soon.

I :love :fettesb
What's the armor supposed to be made out of? Foam?...you would think for a promo shot they would have at least made sure the gauntlet was closed and found a model with a smaller nose, unless of course the helmet is just THAT small.
Can't wait to see somenone apply to the 501st wearing this and the firestorm due to it being LFL "authorized" follow. This is a joke!
Enough speculation folks!! id say why not make a call to Rubies and see what they have to say on another over priced disaster costume made with latex for armour !!
I'd probably pay to hear that phone call...
I contacted Rubies and they sent e a better photo of the rear of the costume including the backpack - since I bet you're all desperate to put your orders in......
Anyway here it is
http://www.starwarshelmets.com/2009/...stume-Back.jpg
and a closer look at the backpack
http://www.starwarshelmets.com/2009/...e-BackPack.jpg
Ive asked Rubies to lend me a review costume, but given I've not been overly complementary of them in the past I doubt I'll get anywhere. :lol
Cheers
Jez
By the looks of the pic it doesn't seem too bad. I'm sure a scratchbuilt pack using the WOF templates could rival it. Some details are not too sharp (piano keys, ring near top if missle). It still does not justify the price of the costume. You could buy a MOW pack for less than half the price and be spot on.
Well, at least the truth about the boots has come to light.
Horrible photoshop attempt!
I know that most casual Fett fans don't go to quite the extremes of accuracy that some on these forums do, to them Fett is Fett and if he looks vaguely like him, they are fine with it.
Casual fans/observers really don't care about such things. Having said that though, that is well overpriced, especially for a casual costume!
