New Project (gatling gun) NOW SPINNING!!! last post

Jango 5204

Active Hunter
I'll be getting Kev's animated armor this week and chose to go with the camo version of the ARF trooper. I saw the gatling gun with the action figure and thought that might be a fun project. I also wanted the gun to light up, like it was shooting. I haven't had a lot of time, so it's been slow going, still have a lot of finish work to do, but I'm pleased with the progress so far. The front half will spin from a drill mounted in the back half. It's operated on the drill trigger that will be mounted in the handle. A 3/8" shaft runs down the middle and will be locked into the drill chuck. Front is supported by a ball bearing. I made a little video. Nothing is hooked up except the LED. I'm trying to hold the 2 halves together and spin it a little so you can see how it might look. I'm hoping to mount up all the internals tommorrow.

It's very easy to do and the LED is from PEP Boys. It's a brake light LED for a car. Total cost of the LED and the #1156 holder was $13, and it's really brite. Paying for Kevin's armor tommorrow.

couple more pics. It's the trigger that came on the drill. I extended the wiring.

I know it doesn't look like much, but I spent 9 hours on it today. Most of the time I was measuring. A little more aluminum work tommorrow and a little bit of assembly. Hoping to get the drill mounted inside so I can start to see this thing spin. Still need to figure out how I'm going to make ths site and the magazine assembly.

Holy c-r-a-p! That is awesome man! Makes me want to build one but I've got enough projects at the moment

And I hope that light doesn't give anyone seizures when it's fully working lol.
Can't wait to see it all painted up.
