Hello all, I'm new to costuming in general. A friend and I have decided to start together and make our own custom Mando armor. I joined this site expecting a single thread containing the beginner's guide to the armor with base price costs and hours but I'm not finding it that easy. Any pointers on where to start?

I was hoping for tips on how much I should be paying for sintra without getting ripped off, where to find acceptable vests and flight suits besides local surplus stores (who only seem to carry sizes for people six feet tall), whether I'm supposed to go through a complex molding and sculpting process to make a helmet, and so on. I've been scouring the forums but I haven't found any real "getting started" thread. The FIY thread will be helpful eventually, but I'm definitely not there yet. Is there a gallery of era-based Mandos I can look at for ideas?

If you're interested in doing a custom costume, the best place on TDH to look would
be in the Mandalorian Armor Costumes forum.
You'll find all kinds of customs in there, and a thread about the Mandalorian Mercs
costuming club. They have some fantastic customs.

Not sure on sources for flight/jump suits or other military style gear.

There are a few armor tutorial threads scattered through the forum, including some
on how to make armor from plastic trash cans. If you do a search for trash can armor,
I'm sure you'll find them.
