New guy here. Decided to take the plunge!

WVFett

New Hunter
I've been following TDH on Facebook for a few months now. Well, I've gone and done it. I've decided to take the plunge and try my hand at costuming and Boba Fett. Now I know what many will say:

"Fett is tough for a first timer."

I understand this and in all honesty, it scares me to pieces. I don't have tons of artistic talent (Thankfully, I have tons of friends that do and are all about helping me.) I want to do a partial self build and purchase the other pieces. Money isn't really an issue for me as my original plan was for Vader, which is also an expensive build. But, I'm a Mandalorian at heart so I switched gears. I guess my questions are as follows:

1) Which pieces are SO important that a first time builder MUST purchase to have done 100% correctly?

2) Reputable vs. disreputable? I'm going to assume that the sellers on TDH are all in the reputable category.

3) I'm tall (6'5") and pretty big (270 lbs.). Will this make things tougher for me to have done correctly?

Accuracy is very important to me. If I'm going to put the time and effort into this, I want it to be done right. Feel free to blast away and thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer!

Boba Fett was my first costume as well. I built it back in 1999 and didn't even know what a Dremel tool was, or what drybrushing was, etc. I learned the "art skills" along the way. Since then I've moved on to a variety of other costumes in my arsenal, but Boba was always the first and the one I've done the most amount of troops with, so it always has a special place with me. Since then (like most other Bobas) I've upgraded components along the way. Congrats on taking the plunge! It's a fun ride!

Your size shouldn't be an issue (I'm 6'4 and 245) and I can get parts no problem.
First off stay away from eBay, other than man of war studios. Almost everyone else are recasters that copy other people's work and sell it.
As for your first question, nothing is a must have from another maker. There are plenty of members that built their whole suit from scratch so it can be done. If you are lacking in the skill of sculpting and casting, I would buy the helmet and armor from one of the venders here. Those are the most important parts of a boba suit and if they look cheap, it will throw off the rest of the costume. While parts are always popping up on the cargo hold, your size is going to limit the options. I have the same problem; parts I need pop up, but they are usually too small.
For a helmet there are several options, FP, BM, animefan, Asok, so getting a good lid won't be a problem. For armor I would try to email fettpride (his v.3 armor is a little bigger) or RKD ( his too is a tad bigger).
Soft parts shouldn't be a problem because the venders make the suit to your measurements.
Hope this helps, and if you have other questions feel free to ask, the members here will always try to help when they can.
