New DL-44 Option?

Little Fett

Hunter
Hey yall,

Now I'm not big on Han Solo costumes (*Shields face*), but I know that a good DL-44 blaster replica can cost quite a boatload, and building one yourself can be quite difficult.

What I want to know is, has anybody tried modifying one of these Soviet "broomhandle" mauser airsoft pistiles into a DL-44?
08-048-005..jpgFrom what I know, these were some of the first Semi-automatic pistols, and the base madel for the DL. It'd need a few different greebles, and a flash suppresser, but I think it's pretty darn close. You can get an airsoft version like this:

for about $30 on ebay.
Just wanted to put this out there.

I have a 1919 and a 1915 Broomhandle Mauser, they are German not soviet and are one of the most produced pistols in the world from the early 1900's to the 1960's, one company in Canada still makes replacement parts,Ive found a place to get the conversion kit to DL-44, http://www.blast-tech.com/home.aspcheck Mauser and accessories and packaged kits.
Ordering my kit soon to convert the 1919 since its barrel is shot out and to dangerous to shoot.

I love the different DL-44 blasters! Some of my favorite sci-fi weapons. :)
I'd think it would be a pretty expensive proposition to convert a real Mauser for a display piece. There have been several replicas released over the years. Denix was probably the cheapest metal replica, but since they're no longer in production the price has been creeping up. MGC also made a better metal replica, more accurate overall. Those are pretty pricey these days. There was also a Japanese company called LJ that made plastic model guns. My Greedo Killer is a converted LJ kit.
There have been several folks on various boards who have offered resin Mausers, too. My ESB version is built on a resin Mauser.
The airsoft, while cheap, is the wrong base model to start with. It's a representation of the Schnellfeuer and would need more modification than a standard version to turn it into a DL.
