'New' Boba Fett images and facts found on my many Internet travels.

As the title states, these images were gathered over the last days, weeks and months of Internet searching and most of them are not in the TDH Gallery. Maybe one of the mods will add them to the Gallery.

    fett-vader.jpg boba-fett-costume-empire-strikes-back-carbon-chamber-18.jpg

Note that the first image is from the same series as the second image, which was taken from the Gallery.

Note that the first image is present on the last image too (which is from the Gallery) but is more detailed.

    fett-luke.jpg jabba-gang.jpg fett-jabba.jpg

The first image, more specifically the Boba Fett half exist in the Gallery, and this goes for the second image too, but in this case this is a hi(er)-res image.

    a5ljiuzcaaamja0.jpg fett-exibit.jpg

These images were shot in a professional studio (for the exibits?), but the interesting fact is the first image, more exactly the fact that we can see the ROTJ hero helmet with the ROTJ Hero jetpack (in all the exibit images the ROTJ Hero jetpack is present with the ESB Hero helmet, the so called ROTJ Se suit) and this image was definitely made after ROTJ.

This image (taken by an RPF member from the Star Wars Blu-Ray Extra) is missing from the Gallery.

    WARNING

These images were made by me and were made just for fun (each file name contains the 'photo montage' to avoid misleading.

    boba-hic-esb-photo-montage-.jpg boba-hic-esb-photo-montage-.jpg

The first image was made using ESB stills while the second image was made from ESB screen caps.

    New addition 26-11-2012
    -----------------------------
While I did my usual browsing I found something extraordinary! The images are not best quality, but the fact that these blueprints and info are available is great news. So whoever has the 'Star Wars - The Blueprints' and a good scanner...

    img_5012.jpg img_5018.jpg boba-fett-costume-test-fitting-04a.jpg

Note that the last image (taken from the first image) has the perspective view corrected and was also resized to a higher but poor resolution.

And this is the link to the images ==> Star Wars - The Blueprints the images are labeled 21 and 22.

Among some known facts we can read that these blueprints were drawn by Norman Reynolds in May 1978, the sculptor's name was 'Jen Stevros' (it's hard to read it correctly) and the actual building was made by Brian Archer. And we can see the working flamethrower and a 'new' side of the Supertrooper suit worn by Alan Harris.

    Update
    ----------------------
I tried to decipher the text on the first image and I think I did a good job:

    STORMTROOPER II - EPISODE V

As many Empire aficionados knows, bounty hunter Boba Fett started out as an all-white supertrooper. The origins of his creations begins in February/March 1978 when Johnston did several concept drawings of the next-generation stormtrooper's armor and secret weaponry. In april, Lucas's second draft introduced Fett, a bounty hunter, though in May the costume was still designed as a "stormtrooper II" in Reynolds's very early backpack drawing (no. 02). In June, a film test in the States, showing a prototype based on Reynolds's series, still featured an all-white costume, presumably that of the supertrooper. But in September a fully clothed and painted Fett marched through Marin County in his final incarnation during a local fair. In November, Fett appeared in the rest of the United States as an animated character in the Star Wars Holiday Special on television.

The exact day or month that Fett and the supertrooper costume combined is subject to speculation. Clearly for the Holiday Special to be aired in November, plans lead to have been finalized at least a couple of months earlier -- possibly around the date George was writing his second draft in March or, at the latest, June 1978, when a concept drawing by Joe Johnston is clearly labeled "Boba Fett."

"As I recall, just before I started full-time on Empire, Robert Watts received a sketch from ILM depicting what was described as a super stormtrooper," says Reynolds. "He asked me if I would develop the character and produce an outfit for George to consider, so I enlisted the aid of a sculptor, Jan Stevens(*), and a model maker, Brian Archer (who previously had helped me with Threepio's costume), and produced the outfit complete with backpack and helmet range finder. When George finally received the outfit, he decided to change the concept from stormtrooper to bounty hunter."
Note that the bolded texts are hard to understand or missing parts and were added as logical deductions. The hardest to decipher is the sculptor's name(*) which might be a known name by some members.

    (*)Update 29-11-2012
    -----------------------------
I managed to find the name of the sculptor/modeller of the Boba Fett suit and her name is Janet Stevens (or Jan Stevens) but sadly I didn't find any image or info regarding her, except the movies she worked on: Janet Stevens - IMDb or Jan Stevens - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki

Another mystery solved for us. More to go...

You are a genius Captain! I'm really happy with that close up of the rear of ROTJ, as it really helps me confirm the accuracy of the colours I used for my own helmet.. Fantastic work as always brother, that side ESB colour shot is just plain cool looking!

Thanks! I had the same thoughts when I saw the ROTJ back image; it has all the natural colors, both the helmet and the jetpack, but the armor too.

New Boba Fett images found on my many Internet travels.

    Nice work!

Good "new" image of the sidearm and holster in the ESB B&w photos, too. I also like the cameo of Bossk next to Boba in the ROTJ group shot, I don't recall having seen that one before.

    Thanks!

The first image with the sidearm and holster IS an image that is not present in the Gallery, while the second image with the group shot is in the gallery but has a smaller resolution. If you look closer, there are two Bossk-like characters in that image, the second one is right next to Jabba.

Added a deciphred text of the first image from the latest update (the one with the working flamethrower) which is full of great infos, especially the involvement of Norman Reynolds in the developement of Supertrooper/Boba Fett. Also added a 'restored' image of the Supertrooper suit.

    I hear ya, Asok.

I used to be able to cash in airline frequent flyer miles for various gift cards, including Amazon. I did exactly that a few years ago, and got the big Dressing a Galaxy book set (then sold the box and extras lol).

Went to do the same thing a few months ago, specifically to buy the Blueprints, but my airline isn't offering Amazon gift cards anymore. dang!

Found another Pre-Pro #2 image here ==> Boba Fett Bathrobe. I resized the image to 200% and also added and fixed the extra 'background' (no suit pixels were harmed during that process!):

    Thanks!

That was a REAL flamethrower, but because Alan Harris' (the person who was in that suit) arm was caught in flame, they modified the flamethrower (look at the Pre-Pro #2 images). The suit had also working rangefinder LEDs, working chest light, speaker under the abdominal plate and microphone in the helmet, a torch (light) in the right gauntlet, a smoking jetpack operated with 2 switches on the right gauntlet and the light beacon located on the jetpack. It was conceived as an all-in-one mobile lethal weapon.

Just amazing. Impressive that they gave this suit so much functionality! Doubt you'd see that kind of attention to details these days.
