Hey I'm knew at this... I've made a few attempts at the Mando armor but I'm just at a lack of how I should attach them. Can anybody shoot me some tips? I've made one set out of plastic, another set out of cork board and I'm trying another set out of metal. I just can't seem to figure out a great way to attach it to me vest and or jump suit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are a few ways brother...

You can use snaps to attach them to the vest

Velcro

Some peopleuse rare earth magnets

I personally think Snaps would be the cleanest and best way... just takes time getting them on right... I have velcro right now and its kinda annoying but its easy to use/attach velcro. I'm sure others will pipe in and give you some better help. :)

I say Snaps. We have some dude in the NCG who uses the Rare Earth Magnets, and they're too much trouble that for what they are worth. Plus, your armour floats on you anyway, it's not going anywhere if it's snapped on.

snaps. put the female half of the snap on the armor at the edges and corners (usually 5 spots on the chest and ab pieces for me). then use ref pics to line up armor on vest (you will most likely need help with this). once you have an idea of the location, apply a wax pencil, lipstick, rub-n-buff, to the rim of the female half of the snap. Push down on vest where you want it. it should transfer to the vest and mark where you'll put the male half of the snap.

Bolt and eyelets are the way to go IMO. It's the way it was done on the screen used costumes. There's a great toutorial on it, I think it was Boba Maker that posted it.

Thanks everybody for help. I'm rather new to this whole thing and so its been a slow go, especially with the lack of funds, not to mention just not sure where to begin. I think I'll have to try the snaps or velcro at least on my first attempt.

Snaps are easy to find, easy to install, and the heavy duty ones will hold things quite tightly. Velcro works quite well too, but I find you can always see the velcro strips under the edges of the piece being held on... and it always just looks like velcro... kinda distracts from the look in my opinion. Snaps can be seen, but they look more like rivets or something, so they don't look like costume bits. Snaps look like something "real" as opposed to velcro, which looks like - well, velcro. Magnets are a good idea, but having never used them for such a purpose I can't comment on how effective they are. It also seems to me they would be difficult to find a way to attach them securely.

Your right Gypsyboy. You can see the velcro under the armor and it ticks me off. If I ever get around to getting different armor or a new vest down the road, I'm going to snaps.
