Need Help with collar and back armor

I have bolts attached to the back armor and I can bolt the back and collar together, my question is if I use Velcro for the collar how much would I need and where would I place it on the collar and back

When I used velcro on the collar and back, my braids always got caught in it. I only have velcro at the edged of the collar and back where they meet so they don't slip while I bolt them together.

I have a custom mando so the Wookie braids won't be a problem for me I'm just more afraid of the weight of the back armor pulling down on the collar making it look offset and not attached

I see. I have my collar bolted onto my vest so that doesn't happen.
