Mannequin posing is exactly what I am going to do with my Fett costume (when I get one! hehe). I figured why would I go through all the trouble and expense to get an outfit and have it spend most of the year in a box? I have a space in my office that is perfect for it. I looked at mannequins online, and most of the males had very metrosexual poses...very un-Fett like! hehe
So I thought I will just build my own. I spent some time thinking and looking around at Home Depot and I came up with a design that will use PVC piping for the shoulder, neck, and arm assembly (keeps it lighter up top so it isn't top heavy, and the PVC pipe and joints will allow me to position the arms how I want them before gluing them together), metal piping for the legs and inner torso support, part of a cardboard concrete form for the torso, a oval wood insert into the form that will keep the torso shape plus provide a place to screw in the flat threaded parts for the metal piping, a wooden floor stand with carved and painted boots (hiding the flat metal connector for the metal pipes, plus allowing me to unscrew the "feet" and stand so I can dress and undress the mannequin). For the hands I am just going to get some of those poseable "artist" reference hands so I can position them how I want (maybe epoxy the joints to keep the shape?), and then for the head, I am just going to get one of those Styrofoam styling heads.
I might look rather funny without a costume on it, but I think it will serve my purposes. I have a feeling because of the metal and the cardboard form, it might resemble the Tin Man a bit! hehe
