    My new Battlestar "Viper" helmet

    Hi everyone!
I'm really excited to add this piece to my collection. Apart from Boba stuff, I'm a big fan of the new Battlestar Galactica, and especially the Viper and Raptor pilot outfits. I know that Got Maul and DGasser have some KILLER pilot suits, and I've begun collecting the components to make one of my own.
The helmets from the show are really cool looking, and a new member over on RPF was displaying his sculpt and I contacted him about getting one. The helmet arrived today, and I have to say I'm just thrilled with this piece. I swear, it looks like someone swiped it right off the set of the show! The craftsmanship that went into this piece is just amazing.

It's fiberglass, painted with automotive lacquers and several clear coats. The finish is deep and 99.999% perfect. The hoses and fittings are real metal parts, superbly installed. Everything fits like a glove.

We agreed that this would be a "ready to wear/display" helmet. Yes, it's wearable! Fully padded and lined, made to the buyer's hat size!!
Not only that, but it features the telescoping jaw piece, just like the real props from the show.

Not quite cool enough?? Well, how bout some lights?!?! Yup, 2 LED "spotlights" on the cheeks, and a blue light strip on the interior, just above the face bubble!

This is simply one of the coolest pieces I've ever seen, let alone owned! I'm so psyched to have it, can you tell??

It's a BIG helmet, too. Here's a comp shot with something we're all familiar with.

Hope there are some BSG fans here who will enjoy seeing these pics.

    SWEET!

I'm still debating about the helmet for my own pilot costume, and this might push me over the edge.

    Congrats on the new gear!

I'd love one, but I know how much they cost. Worth every cent, but still prohibitivlely expensive. Congrats on the purchase!

Hey Eric! I figured you'd like this.

And yes, Hansoloway, a bit pricey, but definitely worth it! I looooooove this helmet.

Oy, you Viper Jock's are showoff's.

Was it Itchy Finger you got it from? Over at TCF he's our bucket guy, they'd be awsome to have, but I'll stick with my Marine. (Unless of corse I could find a Sommers costume already done! Mabey at the BSG auction....)

Nice helmet, i am going to need to get one of those soon. My flight suit is practicaly being cut at the moment (with real sommers fabric mind you). If I pick up that helmet it will definatly go above what I spent on my boba.

Ah! So there are some BSG fans here!

The RPF member I got this from is JtotheP. Jodo, I dunno if he's active on other boards or not or has other board names.
He's a relatively new RPF member, but he's obviously been doing prop stuff for a while.

This is a piece I'll enjoy in my collection for a long, long time!

I didn't know there was either, lol. In fact, Mirax, Turo, etc. just costumed in BSG this year to look cool I think.

I'm not for sure what he goes by otherwise, but it looks like it could be his work, so I figured it was, lol. Either way, if its him or not, they did a great job on it.
