I fully expect to to be blown away by this movie. Been so excited about it I had to start a project based on it. Just using some of the released pics as reference.

Nice start Russ, Allways fun to watch your threads![]()
Nice!![]()
Some progress pics here. I'm slowly building the body with apoxie sculpt. Later when the body form is done I'll come back and and the fine details, toes, fingers, clothes, etc.. The hair will be like a dolls, and not sculpted. Hopefully I can find some braids that'll work with the sculpt.

Donīt tell me thatīs your garden ... sheesh ... :-)
Don't forget the gators that frequent ponds, awesome creatures they are, caught me a 18 footer in Sanibel Island couple years ago scary but fun
Very nice.
The movie is getting great reviews too.
hey Russ - havent seen u in a while mate!
always nice work , love watchin your WIPs
hope alls well
its unfair how nice and sunny it is at ur end!
This sculpture is looking great so far, any more updates on it? Maybe offering a few copies up?
Just saw Avatar today, and loved it! While the storyline was pretty predictable, the CG and effects used to make Pandora and all its inhabitants completely drew me into it, and for about 2 and a half hours, I really felt as if I was on a different planet.
Quite simply, fantastic !
You sir, are an Artist !
Chris
Looking really good.. How big is this? Look forward to se it finished![]()
After seeing the movie I am SOOOOO excited to see this when it is done![]()
El1te
If she stood up she'd be about 25 inches.
pic update. I refined the arms, legs and body. Fingers, toes, and clothes are next. Broke the tail while sanding, have to fix that.

amazing work :O
Making progress. I sculpted the toes and fingers. I totally redid the right arm. I didn't like the way it was bent behind her. Got it more on a straight back pose, elow bent and knife in hand. More pics coming soon.
this is truly looking amazing. I like seeing hard sculpts instead of clay sometimes. Bondo and any other type of sandable, drillable etc. type of stuff to sculpt is great. I can't wait to see this finished. hard sculpting is the only way I was able to make the peices come out right for my ODST gauntlet sculpts
More pic update. Working on the chaps, don't have a real clear reference so...
Trying to imagine what they are made from or what they are. Could it be they are some kind of leaf or animal skin wrapped around her legs? And what is the pattern or how is it put together at the thigh? My thought is that they are pieces of a wing off a Banshee or something, cause the thigh pattern resembles that of the lead wing flaps. Any help with this?

pic update. I'm planning on making changes to the face, getting ready to order real hair micro braids. Also making progress on her necklace with real feathers and beads and hemp rope. Pics to come of that soon.
Here's what I've done with the necklace. (Actually my wife helped me make it!)

Wow.. so cool !
Ok so I've made some changes to the face. Good or Bad? Please let me know. I resculpted it in clay with these changes, longer face, more nose, slightly opened mouth, more expression in the eyes, and ears pinned back more in almost defensive or attack mode.

Nice ^^ I so love to follow this thread![]()
Third time's a charm, maybe? Made some more changes, slanted the eyes, fuller lips, less bony cheeks, more forehead, inhanced eyebrows, widened head at ears so they weren't so sunk in.

It looks better and better bro! I guess it needs the hair to fully recognize how great this one came out! :-)
Fantastic job and awesome skills!
Any updates?
That last head looked great! I'm sure she'll look fantastic.
If you ever need some more reference pictures, just send me a message![]()
This is great! Keep the progress pics coming
Got your pics. Oh Man! Thanks! This is going to help so much. Today I grinded off the remaining chap detail, starting fresh. There was so much I had wrong. I also grinded off her upper arm bands and her lower left arm braclets. Opting to put those in as hand made accessories rather than sculpted pieces. The only things I'm going to have as part of the sculpt are the chaps, right wrist guard, and knife.
Update pics. These have the new head and the at question clothing detail grinded off. Going to be re-doing her chaps this weekend. Her upper arm bands, necklaces, herb pouch, knife sheath, loin cloth and lower left braclets will be add ons and not sculpted. She looks kinda plain without that stuff or hair and just primer, but I can see the final piece being really sweet. So close now.

Thanks to Sareth Dorn for the pics to help with the chap detail. Here's an update pic of the detail being applied.

Been watching on the RPF and this has been great to watch!
I miss words... this is amazing !
Thanks you guys , more pics to come soon. Got her lion cloth, herb pouch, choker, and a braclet done last night. Still have have knife sheath, goggles, arm bands, tail, and hair to put on. And still finish out the base.
OK guys, It's been a long time coming but she's finally finished! I would estimated about 150 hours went into this project from the sculpting, resculpting, molding ,producing, and finally art finishing. I'm very happy with how it came out, and I want to thanks you guys for the encouragement and critiques along the way. I do have some better ideas about the rock base, more to come on that. Here are some pics.

You'r a master! She looks perfectYou can be proud!!!
Congratz to this amazing work !!!
Thanks guys for all the comments. I'll be posting this for sale in the cargo hold soon. Not this original but I will make them upon request. Pm me for details, price range $1000. I know that may be high for most but this is a highly detailed piece with many hand made accessories. Not sure if I'll offer it as a kit yet, trying to keep the recasters away.
Wow what a gorgeous beautiful sculpture Its really something :> you must be super proud!
