Hey Guys,

I'm updating this thread for 2011.

I'm nearing completion of the Preproduction2 gauntlet. I actually attempted this gauntlet years ago but the flame unit was always a challenge due to the stress factor, resin was certainly not the way to go. One of the crucial details were these figure 8 details I'm holding in the photos. In the past I used many different materials to make them work but was never satisfied with the overall structural integrity of them until now. These details are now welded steel with some pre prep grinding and some post drilling assemble well with the heavy grade aluminum tubing design. I'm also pleased with the how the metal mounting brackets came out though I'm not satisfied with the size of the screws and the thickness of the metal used and am currently working on a better version. The flame unit is a 2-stage telescopic set up and is functional, I've actually added a small locking screw to secure it in place when fully extended or collapsed but the 8 gauge spiraling wire makes it a challenge to do this effortlessly. I'm guessing most would want it in the fully extended position anyway ")

Oh yeah, definitely want Pre-Pro V2 Gauntlets! If you do it, count me in. I have a set of your Empire gauntlets that will have to go to the cargo hold if you create these!

The right gauntlet looks the same as the ESB gauntlet (maybe I'm overlooking something, otherwise it looks the same to me), but the left gauntlet is definitely different and has two hoses connected to the back somehow.

Your pretty much right..Here's a profile of the left gauntlet..It has another layer..The rocket rests much higher than the newer versions.

Pre-Pro 2 Gauntlets? :suprise Can it be? Someone is finally going to make some? I had resigned myself to scratch-building mine, although, if I can afford them, I'd be interested in buying a set. If someone absolutely has to get rid of their old ESB or ROTJ, gauntlets, send me a PM.

I'm at the point in this journey towards a PP2 costume, that I'm either going to finish it, or scrap it completely. Three years off and on on a shoe string budget is getting frustrating. >:

Back to topic now. I'd love to see some MOW PP2 gauntlets whether I can afford them or not. I'll be checking this thread. :thumbsup

The right gauntlet is actually the same gaunt that was seen at C4. The base gaunt is the same but it has been modified for ROTJ with the larger whip cord housing and some areas have been repainted probably as a result of this modification.

I am very interested in!

But I think the PP1 left Gauntlet has a different base to the PP2. Here’s a pic of the PP1 Gauntlet, think it’s the same base like the EsB.

That's true, the ESB, PP3 and PP1 costumes have the same base. That's why I think that the ESB one was vacuformed and just the RotJ one has the left "fiberglassed". :wacko

Also the PP2 was vacuformed. :D

The softer details sure make it look vacuuformed.

Sven, Great find...That's clearly the same gauntlet worn in the white pre-production costume. Same flame thrower too. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! i have to keep focused on building my production ESB version,but this is definitely is an awesome idea! Great pics submitted too! Im not even sure ive ever seen these Pre-prod pics. Now my old 1979 fett figure gauntlets make more sence painted one red and one yellow now....ya learn somethin every day haha

Here's some for ya. Even though I love pp2 more then any other, my favorite left gaunt has to be the Supertrooper/pp1/pp3. I have been meaning to build the flamethrower housing for it but have not gotten to it yet. And Sven is right the left base gaunt is different for the pp2, then the other 3. The pp2 rises higher then any other.

I took a bunch of screen caps from the supertrooper video of the left gaunt that I will have to go find. If they show any more detail then the other pics of the pp1/3 I will post them.

Nick, These are awesome..That rear shot showing the back of the gauntlet sheds a lot of light on where the hoses made a connection..Perhaps a Y-shaped stem fed 2 hoses into a single input..."Food for thought"! Thanks very much.

i'm curious to see if an increase in quality pre-pro parts will influence more people to start that version of the costume.

so far we only have a few sling gun kits out there and pairs of 'therealglobes' prepro gloves.

add in the fact that the sgt. fang? is a close reproduction of the prepro helmet.

gauntlets would be a great addition....and even just a display piece.

i think this is a very marketable idea

I agree with you Combatbaby this will probably increase the amount of Pre-Pro's walking around. There are definitely enough reference shots off of the PP2 to make a accurate suit like some have already done, however PP1 would be a little more difficult along with PP3 but definitely possible. I'm game for some supertrooper/pp1/pp3 gauntlets. :cheers

Hey there fellow Fett-heads, I'm glad to see this much interest in PP2 Fett. I was thinking there were only three of us that were working on or had completed a PP2 Fett. :)

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the long wait..Here's the latest on the Preproduction gauntlets.

The upper and lower sections are made of gel coated epoxy resin reinforced with 3 layers of fiberglass strand clothe. The epoxy is very strong and far less brittle than traditional polyester resin. The dry time is hell but the end product is worth it!

Lots of metal fabrication here!

The metal work is laborious, time consuming and expensive but the overall assembly is fairly easy.

A limited run of these may come available soon but I gottah warn you guys, "It's gonna hit the wallet"!
