Mini vacuum forming help

Well I'm thinking of making a mini vacuum former for making the eyes for my Cad Bane masks I'll be selling, and some dentures for the masks aswell.

Anyone have some plans or ideas? I already have a vacuum pump and I'm thinking of using a modded toster for the oven.

Please give me some tips.

just use your oven.

it will be small enough you can make a gate system with your vac table. If its small enough, i once made a vac table out of a TV dinner tray from walmart. Just drill a hole in the center, attach a hose to it from the vacuum pump, and make a gate to fit. Throw the plastic in the gate, then in the oven and heat it up, and then suck it down over your mold.

I think you'd be better off with an electric griddle than a toaster oven. It's the same basic idea as the heater in a bigger table, just small. Good temperature control, relatively low power requirements.

Like one of these?

Why cant you use your house Oven? The Plastic has 0 vapor and is 100% non toxic.

If you still don't want that though.. oven element works pretty well. Need two for big projects.

The reason why I don't want to use my oven is because then I'll have to run into my garage and then my dog might get out.
I might just go with the oven I posted, I found it for $20.00 and heard it works good. Thanks for the help anyways

super, do you have a shop vac? I mean I can literally draw up plans for you to use a tv tray:

A shop vac, and some wooden gates you'll construct yourself. Total production cost, bout 30 bucks.

Then you can literally set it all up in your kitchen, and then break it down super easy.

Those plans are not in the main computer... I want them in the name of the Empire!

LOL, I mean I'm very interested on having them. :)

the best electric grill was that the old type with multiple heating coils.
Unfortunately, you need to pump motor and control which push up costs.

Would this vacuum work?

ooh, this is something i've been working on lately!

based on the numbers, i'm skeptical of the machine... 29.9"... that's near perfect vacuum. I find it VERY hard to believe it can actually do that, especially at that price. if it does work that well, i'll by half a dozen of them!

the flow rate is pretty low (3 cfm), so it would take a long time to evacuate a tank.

which leads to the next thing... you don't usually pull straight from a pump like that. you usually use the pump to evacuate a tank, then pull from the tank.

this is the setup i'm building:

2 10 gallon tanks, evacuated by a rotary vane pump.

my pump is a 3/4 horsepower, 10 CFM, but only rated for -26". the pump is about $800, which i why i was surprised to see a $100 one that says it will do 29.9.

for a small / casual use system it may be easier to just use a shop vac.

Hey I would love some plans:D:lol:D. Just keep in mind that I don't have electric skills and welding skills, as for my tools for the wood part I have: A belt sander, detal sander, and hand saw.
