Mandalorian Foods and Drinks

I know this has nothing to do with my armor but I am curious about Mandalorian food and drinks since it does have to do with the mandalorian culture and why we are all apart of the culture of make and wear costumes. So my question is does anyone know anything about the food and drinks and even somewhere to find those recipes? i have looked online and so far havnt found anything other than the standard names of the foods and drinks. i think it would be interesting to make some of them and see what it actuallty tastes like.

a couple of years ago, we had a Mandalorian Merc who brought some Uj cake to Planet Comicon in Overland Park, KS. Peter Mayhew loved it so he posted up the recipe over on the Mercs. I was lucky enough to get it copied before we lost a bunch of old stuff in the move to the new server so here we are, Jaxor's Wookiee Approved Uj Cake

Jaxors Wookie Approved Uj Cake:

Cake:
3 1/2 cups Graham Flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1tsp Cinnimon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups honey
1 1/2 cups Plain Fat-Free Yoghurt
1/4 can of frozen OJ Conentrate (thawed)
1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter melted (but cooled to a not scorching hot temperature)

Preheat oven to 350*F. Deactivate off your breathing filters you have in your helmet. Combine dry ingredants in a bowl and sift togeather, set aside. Using a whisk beat eggs to a pulp like you would Jar-Jar Binks if you ever got a hold of him. Mix in honey, youghurt, and Oj concentrate. Slowly whisk in the butter,, just in case its still really hot, you don't want to cook your eggs. Set the bowl that you melted the butter in to the side. Combine the wet and dry ingrediants until it looks like a semi-fluffy bowl of goo (refer to what Jar Jar would look like after the beating). Use baking parchment, line the bottom of a jelly roll pan (9x13), and brush sides and bottom with any left over butter in that bowl that I told you to save. Pour mixture into pan, spread evenly with your besk'ad and bake for 25 minutes in the oven or 35 seconds if using your gauntlet flame thrower.

Topping:
1 cup Pecans (chopped)
1 cup Almonds (chopped)
1 cup Walnuts (chopped)
1 cup Dried Apricots (chopped)
1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter melted
1/2 tsp ground cinnimon
Honey (enough to bind mixture, roughly a cup)

You can do this while the cake is baking, unless your using your gaunt flamer, your hands might be a little full. Heat up a large skillet on the stove on med heat, once you can feel the heat radiating from the pan well toss in pecans, almonds, and walnuts, immediately start mixing so you do not burn them. Lightly toast the nuts to the point that they become aromatic (translation for Weequays "Dey smells somethin' good"). Toss them into a bowl with the apricots and cinnimon and give it a mix. Drizzle the butter in as you mix, and then add honey a half cup at a time until you can make a sticky ball out of the topping. Talk about a messy game of get'shuk.

Ding! Hey look the cakes done! Pull the cake out and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Once you can touch the pan without gloves, start spreading your gooey nutty mixture of deliciousness in an even coating on your cake. I used a spoon to spread it and then used a piece of wax paper to press it down for eveness.

Syrup:
1/2 can of OJ concentrate
1/2 cup honey

Pour both parts into a saucepan on medium heat and stir constantly. When it simmers take it off the heat, let it sit for about 3 minutes. Give it one last stir, and drizzle carefully (its boiling lava hot) on the top of the cake. Throw the cake while it is still in the pan, in the fridge or freezer for a few hours to solidify. Remove from the pan, cut into 1" squares and serve.

Its dense
Its fruity and nutty
Its sickningly sweet
It makes for happy Mandos and Wookies alike!
