    Ok the http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=25569
topic was closed apparently because it's not nice to laugh at a woefully bad fett costume. And I just wanted to defend this a bit since I posted it not with the intent of a "wow look at this idiot he should be shot" comment, but simply to make fun of myself by pointing out a fett suit that's worse than my starfortress set. Yes making the kid happy is the main thing, it's the reason I do what I do, but come on, don't make a bad costume and expect everyone to idolize you. I'm sure he knows it's bad and doesn't mind, mine's kinda bad and I still wear it too. Also while I was jumped on for laughing at the "fett battlethong" I believe someone referred to the child as a "narutard" which imo is worse than laughing at the adult who knew full well he was going to be laughed at.

This site doesn't need censorship of this level. Chill out and take things as the light hearted jokes they are. I'm not saying all hate threads should be allowed, but that was clearly not a hate thread but a simple " wow you guys have GOT to see this" I don't hate the guy, I wish him well. If he continues to wear it, that's fine with me I don't care, but I will continue to laugh at the atheletic cup groin plate he has, it's hilarious.

The TDH code of conduct is very strict. Many of the problems found on other boards are avoided here because of the hard stance the admin team takes.

It takes some getting used to, but I think it's actually an integral part of why the community works.

Just look at the 70+ page arguments that happen on therpf.com for an example of how a forum shouldn't run

Not everyone can afford to make the professional looking costumes you see on this board... so they do what they can... sometimes they come out really good and sometimes not... but people try and its not fair to make fun of them when they did the best they could with what they had available to them.

The admin team here does an awesome job of making sure things stay civil here so we can all get along and share information and techniques in positive ways.

Yep. This the only place next to CTN where I hang my helmet. No tolerance for petty stuff. This is a board for the whole family to enjoy.

    Mandosoldier,

Trust me, you don't want to continue this argument as you will lose. TDH is admittedly very strict and that's exactly why we don't have that many wars on these boards. There was no need to open another thread to continue the discussion after an admin closed your first one.

If you don't agree with The Dent's rules than perhaps TDH isn't the right forum for you.

Hey ill admit, I had a chuckle on the inside, but thats it...

However, there are people who will start a huge issue about it and fully rip into that guy. Then what if he comes on here/or is already a member, and reads how much he is ridiculed.. Some people would consider it bullying, others would take offense, and some will even step up to add more insults, and make them personal attacks..

Thats why the thread was shut down imho (*** thats the first time ive ever used that term) and I could quite easily see it spiralling down into a nasty ending, that could result in bans and people leaving.

Personally I extend an acknowledging 'Fett Nod' to the Admins to pick up on it early, ironically closing the thread before i was about to post what ive just stated in the above..

Just remember, some people may consider that as hard work for them to do, especially if they dont have much time to themselves.. And if that was their kid, who might be very Ill and not likely to survive, and you did that at the last minute for them, How would you feel if you found that post..?

    Just my 2 cents..

Commander Voltaire and Webchief I agree.

And to be honest this was my first costuming board. After becoming accustomed to the amazing people here and then joining other boards I was shocked and appalled at the way members treated one another on a regular basis.

We know next to nothing about the circumstances of that picture. Rather than laugh at him I would like to talk to him, ask him if he wants to do a more serious Fett, and then see what he knows and or does not know about doing it right. Maybe point him to this very place, I would hope if he ever ends up being directed here that he finds advice and a warm welcome.

I love the Dent. I hang my helmet here in a way I do not in other places. I can relax here. And I love the people here.

The fact Fett is a bit down on my list of costumes and that I did a custom first, the fact I am doing a 2 year Fett plan, and the fact I came here knowing little to nothing never once deterred the people here from being kind to me. Let's extend that now to this picture and the gentleman in it. His costume needs work, but it is better than Rubies Jim Jams.

I have been to a con where an adult was in a Rubies Jim Jam Style Jango Costume and he thought he was the best looking guy out there.

At least this gent did something more. starting a second thread to fill it with ugliness is not The Dent...

who's arguing here? I just wanted to point out the fact that I have nothing against the guy OR his child, or his fett. The thing made me laugh and I thought I'd share and make a jab at myself and my less than great armor. I just thought it odd that I was being basically hit over the head with a stick for laughing at the armor, it was seen as perfectly okay to be calling the kid a retard (narutard was the exact term), who really has the problem here? Like I stated I'm sure the guy knows his costume isn't the greatest and I'm sure he's heard jokes so I doubt he'd be that offended, so why take offence on his part? I too would like to meet and discuss with him, if he needs help on a more serious fett I'm willing to help if needed. My problem was only that others decided for themselves what my intent was and gave me no way to respond other than a seperate thread, shut this down if you wish. I just thought the battlething should be shared, I never once made a judgement on the guy himself, his child or any possible reason he was doing it for. Maybe worst fett costume ever was a bit harsh okay my bad, I apologize, but this whole thing has gone way out of proportion of the intent with which it was posted. I forgot apparently the entire internet is supposed to be nice and no one's supposed to state an opinion that's anything other.

Man, its just the sheer fact that you have no remorse really for making fun of the guy. You already said you laugh at it because you see it to be lesser quality than yours and its humerous. That is the sheer negativity of the "supreme elitest" mentality that we don't want at this board. Many already concieve us as being the "bullies on the block" who rip apart other peoples costumes for every minute detail. Your post, though you might have meant it to be light-hearted, and in a kidding manner, unfortunately gave light to those accusations of our board as a "bunch of elitests who nit-pick everyone elses costumes".

Though our banner says "Boba & Jango Fett Elite Costuming Forums" we are here to encourage and help others strive and not to give up on making their Fett the best that it can be. I know when I started out, my Fett was by FAR sub-par. But through the years I have taken alot of time in bringing pieces together, and attempting to optimize my Fett.

It's not that anyone is ridiculing or persecuting you for having a little light hearted jest at someones expense, Heck, ask half the Veterans here, they all pick fun at me at Dcon each year. SPECIALLY THIS YEAR...BRAK'S BUDDY!....

But just keep in mind we are a big family here, truly. All the people here I consider my extended family and would be at their doorstep in a heartbeat if needed. So though that person might not be a member here, or none of us know him, he very well could be. He is a fett costumer as well, so though his attempts are a bit lacking, encourage, send him a message asking him to join our boards if he isn't a member already.

Spread the love and the word man, Make Fett, not War...

I just want to chime in and say I wasn't arguing at you. It was/is/will be a bad costume, no doubt. Some people do go over the top just to pick a fight though. I didn't care for the narutard comment, but only because it was a small child. Feel free to cal me narutard anytime.

Keep this private with the administration. If you have a problem with them, don't tell me about it.

I was one of the ones who posted on the other thread because I seen where it was headed
and I hope you didn't take offense to it because it was not an attack towards you. I believe you 100% you meant no ill will towards him or the child (other than some good natured ribbing) but I have seen things turn ugly in a minute. just the other day in my battlestar forum someone posted and made fun of a costume pic of someone at a convention, and then it was posted on the board that alot of people new that person in the pic and he actually passed away. lets just say that thread took an 180 degree turn! I love this board and I really dont know any of you guys but I feel very @home here and I dont want to see anyone upset over something petty like this.

I too love this board, it's great and the best source for everything fett. I meant no offence, and took none from any comment, just saw something going on that I thought I'd address. Far as I'm concerned it's now over, done with, and gone. On to your daily scheduled program.... Oh last thing, I'm a not so proud owner of a SFP set of armor, I'm hardly elitist in anything lol.

The best part about TDH is that popcorn time never lasts very long!
