The infamous piece of movie memorabilia was sold at auction in Los Angeles.
The iconic lightsabere used by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars has sold for an impressive $200,000 (£133,000) at auction in the States.
Presented for sale by Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz, the 'weapon' was famously wielded by actor Mark Hamill in both 'Star Wars: a New Hope' and 'The Empire Strikes Back'.
It is not yet known who purchased the much-coveted piece of film history or indeed whether any of the profit will be donated to charity.
Liam Neeson was famously the first to make a lightsaber available for public sale in 2000. The acclaimed actor auctioned the lightsaber he used in his role as Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn in 'The Phantom Menace' to raise money for Unicef supported charity Movie Action for Children.
The latest sale was housed by famed Hollywood memorabilia auction house 'Profiles in History' and Luke Skywalker's lightsaber was among several high profile pieces available to the highest bidder.
The helmet worn by actor Anthony Daniels as C-3PO in 'Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi' fetched $100,000 (£67,000), while his robotic hands, which were sold as a separate item, raised $30,000 (£20,000). A section of the Death Star from the original film was also presented for auction and sold for $20,000 (£13,000).
In addition, an original set of signed, first edition copies of the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, a first edition copy of Ian Fleming's 'You Only Live Twice' and costumes from 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day', 'Batman Forever' and 'Batman Begins' were among the other pieces of Hollywood memorabilia sold.

Garrison Tyranus's very own Troy (Tgaines107) is the proud new owner of it :)

A quote from Troy

"Yeah man, I figured it was money well spent for the Star Wars room. Ya see, I've lost close to 40% on my investments in the market these past 6 months so I figured it was something that could only appreciate in value as time went by. I'll have it in a safe deposit box at the bank for the next 15 years. At that time, I will bring it out for auction and use the proceeds to pay for my kid's college. I'm sorry but it wont be here in time for the Fanforce party but I did promise Eddie I'd bring it down to Vincenzo's in January for you all to look at. No touchy touchy though, just look. I will have private security with me. "

I assumed he was joking. Hope he doesn't mind that there's quite a bit of doubt as to it's authenticity. :facepalm

Ah...well if he's joking I'm going to look somewhat like a fool...

Regardless, if he got it or not, it's still a nice prop.

Not at all! But knowing Troy and Joe (who started that thread) I'd be surprised if it wasn't a joke. Then again Troy's a successful dude, who knows! :)
