Now I understand Luke was a bit frightened to find himself iced to a cave ceiling about to be devoured, but after he sliced the Wampa's arm off and ran outside, why didn't he flip around and go kill it off so that he had a warm place to stay.
He just ran out in the blizzard and didn't even consider going back in.
Just one of the many things Luke did wrong...lol...talk to Demagol Aran...He'll give you LOTS of reasons to call Luke an idiot.

well the cave wasn't terribly warm if it was sustaining ice on the ceiling. I think Luke left the cave to find a way back to the rebel base, otherwise it didn't seem he was in range to be found by anybody. Most people in a survival situation do not stay where they are. They try to get back or get help. Mostly out of panic. In the original version, not the bloody SE, I always got the impression the lair was full of wampas... like a nest... because of the multiple howls in the cave (maybe it is just me). Luke hadn't received a whole lot of training on his lightsaber by this point (good against remotes is one thing... good against living?) so maybe his best option was to just get the heck out of dodge.
Speaking of stupid, why did Boba not just shoot luke etc from the main sail barge in ROTJ?
We did he feel the need to jet pack his way over there with a long range blaster with sights? Did you want to shoot luke point blank in the face?

if not terribly warm, it would still have been out of the wind, which would have kept frostbite, and hypothermia at bay for longer. And even if not wholy trained with the lightsaber, he was going against a now one armed wampa, probbaly not the hardest of things to fight.

While I agree that luke wasn't the sharpest vibroblade in the kit. I would agree with asok. But since the films are over twenty five years old they do count as historical documentation and fact. Oh yeah lest not we forget the ever present, "suspension of disbelief" Considering the entire series' success depends on that.

There are just so many times in the movies that one or two shots would have removed Luke and his buddies. And would the fun in that be?
If Stormtroopers were as accurate/precise as Obi-Wan made them out to be when he and Luke saw the shot up Sandcrawler then Luke & co. would have been dead many times over. Luckily for them the only things that Stormtroopers can hit with any accuracy is the broadside of a Sandcrawler.

I've seen Jedi deflect blaster fire with their lightsabers and Vader stopped Han's blaster fire with his hand, so shooting Luke may have been problematic. If Han had not been Jabba's favorite wall decoration he probably would have gotten tagged. Also, most of Lukes buddies are higher ranked individuals within the rebellion and would be much more valuable being used as leverage. Whoa! I just nerded out big time!
As long as we're talking about idiotic moves...Since Leia KNEW the empire was tracking the Millennium Falcon in ANH, why did she have Han take her straight to the Rebel Base?
She killed two birds with one stone . . . she not only brought the Rebel Alliance the plans to the Death Star so they could find a weakness and destroy it, she brought them the Death Star to destroy

I´m not sure but I think I heard a story that after the empire took place on hoth, a whole ATAT was missing in the wampa area.

I remember a few years ago watching that movie on vid with a friend who had not seen it before (yeah, yeah, I know, who HASN'T seen it?) and we both commented on the fact that Luke should have finished off the wampa and stayed in the cave for shelter. I suppose a person could say he just panicked and ran, but still. He had a lightsaber and some ability to use it already by that point. After all, he was able to use the Force to get the thing into his hand.
I always thought Luke was a bit of a doof. One of my favorite Luke-isms is in ANH when the TIE fighter roars past the Falcon while on their way to recently-blown-to-bits-Alderaan, and Luke says "maybe they know what happened". LOLOL
I think Luke must have some hidden qualities. Just think about it, he flies to Dagobar and crash lands. Now he could have landed anywhere but just happens to land in the right place to met the guy he's trying find. what are the chances of that !!!!!
That was apparently the force 'taking over his ship' and crash landing him close enough for Yoda to find him... and later a test could he even leave by raising the ship...
I wouldn't want the fate of the universe on him lol
