At a lost for Halloween project

So you would think hanging around this site my choice of costume this year would be narrowed down to three things:,, or . Unfortunatly it is not that simple.

My costuming "career" began in 2003 when at college I decided I was going to go all out for Halloween by going as my favorite character at the time, Jango Fett. So for a month in October after getting alot on info from this site, I made a pretty decent, yet mediocre suit. After Halloween I continued to visit this site, and was inspired to build an actual good suit, and the following summer built what got me hooked into the passtime:

When I wore this suit, people were taking pictures and even stopping me in the streets to have their picture taken. It was awesome. At that point I decided I was going to go big every year.

In 2005 I went as Anakin Skywalker from EP 3, but that wasnt really something I made, it was just something I put together because I was excited from the movie. In 2006 after seeing another film, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for Halloween, and the result ended up becoming one of the most popular pictures submited to collegehumor.com from my school:

The following june I learned I would be in college for 2 more years (grad school) so I now had 2 bounus halloweens. Last year I decided to visit the costume I had in kindergarden, which I've seen people do but not well. The result won me $500 in a costume contest, sold for $1050 on ebay thus paying my rent and saving me from borrowing from my parents, and has gotten me compared to Ferris Buler on wtfcostumes.com:

As a result of all these creations I have become sort of a legend among my fraternity and the campus. Many people have been asking me how I plan to top my perivious work this year.

The problem is I don't know.

Earlier this year I was trying to figure out what to do. I made polls with options, looked online for movies coming out, looked at web sites and I seriously do not know. At first I was going to do Iron Man, but found that to make a decent suit would be beyond my skill level. Then I tried master chief, but the amount of material and skill is out of my reach. I could to Boba Fett to the skill level of my proton pack (I started a ROTJ last year but ended up selling the parts when my job ended) but I dont know how popular that would be since Boba is not in Clone wars or Unleashed (as far as I know)

So at this point I dont know what to do. I love halloween, it is my favorite holiday. I just dont have any good ideas this year and I'll need to finalize a idea soon to finish in time. This is just me thinking outlloud, and I'd like to see if anybody else thinks about this way too hard.

Your V costume is just wicked so is your ghostbuster. Have you thought about doing a clone? Either an Arc or commander would be the most impressive in my opinion. I'm sure whatever you end up doing will look great!

If I did a clone I would probably do the clone

After trying Iron Man and Master chief, I learned I cannot do armor really well without buying it (i do not know where all that storm trouper armor comes from)

Boba has the advantage his armor exist in seperate components, so I can easilly work on smaller parts instad of a suit as a whole.

I don't know what stuff you like, but what about Indiana Jones? Or how about a Transformer.

Perhaps something from the Dark Knight?

I LOVE all of these costumes! Have you joined the 501st or any local groups?

It is so fun and rewarding to troop for a good cause. You can have the fun of
showing off and make some good money for charites. It is a win-win for everyone.

Just so much fun.

Keep up the great costuming!

Yeah, that would probably be something to get you similar levels of fame, with the movie being still fresh in everyones mind.

I could do the Joker, but I am worried that EVERYBODY is going to be the joker. Case in point, 300 was the big film last year and basically going as a spartan became the guy equivalent of the black cat that sorority girls always wear. I have a feeling the Joker will be everywhere this year.

Humm something awsome and dosent involve armor or atleast to much of it.

How about a clonewars obi or ani?

true, but who is going to do it RIGHT? ;)

or the Nurses outfit version... OR do Harvey Dent... post face melting

try thumbing through costumes on RisingSun.net or whatever that guys website is, I am sure you can google Rising Sun and find it... then just out do whatever costume you see there ya like.

how about daniel's halloween costume from Karate Kid?...do you know what that is or am I showing my age? :)

ITs a classic, but I have never seen it.

After I posted this thread I got some good ideas, and began to think where I am going with the hobby. For the past few year I have had to build my creations with very little money, and in the end was forced to sell all of them to pay for the neccesities in life since I am in college and dont make a fairly regular income. After this halloween that time will be coming to an end. I will be graduating this december and will need to enter the work force. Although I do not have a job lined up yet, I know that when I get a steady income, even starting out, I can manage things a little better and will be able to keep my suits.

Graduation also means that going to a college bar on halloween is going to be a thing of the past. The area I will end up is in the desert, and well it is not going to be the same as a UIUC halloween.

Additionally, I began to go through some of my photo albums and found some props I was working on last year:

I remeber when I finished them, I was ammased at the quality. I would have finished the suit, but at the time I found myself unemployed and in need of gas money. As I look at the photos now, I feel bad that I did not get to show them off to the public. Additionally, with some love and time on that suit, I may have proceeded to join the 501st.

I have never been to a convention, never joined a costuming club besides TDH, and have found sever occasions I wish I had a fett suit on hand. Therefore, I have decided that this Halloween I will be going around campus in a ROTJ Fet suit. The suit will not be 501 quality by that time, but I will make a point to keep this suit and upgrade it until I can join the ranks that many of us already fill.

So with that I thank everybody for the suggestions and keep an eye out as I work to become a Fett once again.

Sincerly,

Dark Jedi

DUDE!! YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO GO TO A CONVENTION..:eek:heck any convention..:facepalm just pick one. I never went to any conventions until CII (Star Wars Celebration 2) and I was immediately hooked!(y)! but the sad fact was, by that time I was 32. Man I missed out on so much!! As for a costume idea?? BARACKA from MKII :lovewould be very awesome. But since is a star wars minded community a Tusken Raider (y)(y)would be very do-able with your skill level!!! they are so wicked awesome!!! and an easy and relatively inexpensive way to get in the 501st!!:cheers

I'm with Vadr. A Tusken would be fairly cheap. And they are pretty sweet. I have been talking to Godzilla about one of his kits to start my own.

How about doing a DEEP EYES marine costume from the final fantasy movie that came out a few years ago, they looked awsome....want to make one myself 8)
