Invader Zim has been my favorite cartoon for years. Is a movie about him a good idea, or are we wasting our time?![]()
Invader Zim is gone, thanks to all of the depressed teenagers who have to buy anything that has gur on it at hot topic. Along with those fantastic pants that have enough chains to pull a 18 wheeler out of a lake.
.
I can never see that cartoon ever being more then just that. Despite that, it was a weird enough plot to begin with. Plus, they dont show it anymore. So honestly, no, I can not see a movie, let alone a live action movie, to be a good idea. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but its how I feel about it
Yeah.....I agree with the above.....The Emo kids just loved it, me...well, not so much.![]()
That TV show made created the transition from goths to emos. Even an animated movie based off of that show is fail.
I dont even want to consider what zim would look like in a live action film![]()
I loved Invader Zim. And unfortunatly, emo kids kind of took over the show and thus affected the merchandise that has come out lately.
GIR is adorable.
But they will never do a live action. Part of the reason the show is good is the style of the animation. You can not recreate that in live action. Also the original guy, Jhonen Vasquez, that created the show is not going to come back. When Nick cancled the show in lew of more "Rugrats-style" programing he had a falling out with the network.
And Nick is never going to sell the rights to the show to anyone else. Nick lost alot of money years ago when they sold failing show "Doug" to Disney (who revampt the show and it became a sucess again). So, Nick would rather beat the show to death in reruns then do anything else with it.
Like I said I loved the show. The animation was well done and had some very interesting humor. But it makes me sad to see emo kids embrace it so much. Not to say that all fans of the show are emo (I am not), but I would say the majority are.
I have to agree with Thumper, I remember when invader zim came out and not that many people were into it. I loved it because it came on Sat. nights then I would flip the channel and watch late night tunami on cartoon network (remember those re-runs of gundam wing) Years later once the emo thing started up invader zim started to pop up at hot topic

Now who would like to see a cartoon made of
"Jhonny the homicidal maniac!"
I just checked IMDB and googled "zim live action movie." The #1 google search was this thread here, and IMDB came up with nothing.
Thats funny
bah, nick went down the tubes when they premeired "spongebob." After that, I NEVER watched nick again.
Ren&Stimpy; Rocko's Modern Life; Guts; Legends of the Hidden Temple; ORIGINAL Power Rangers > Nick right now
Since I have digital, I watch nick sports just for legends of the hidden temple, double dare, and gladiators. Oh you forgot about Hey Arnold, that show was great. Rockos' is still my favorite though.
I loved Zim, but the emos ruined it for everyone else. I can't wear Gir shirts anymore without someone inviting me to go smoke and listen to Hawthorne Hights.
I would love to see an (animated) Invader Zim movie, but I probably wouldn't see it in theaters because I'd be surrounded by a bunch of people wearing tight pants with their hair over their eyes.
i think it would be utterly pointless to do a live action movie of it.
either it would be 90% cgi, or it would lose the entire look and feel of the show.
Ah Tunami....I wish I could go back 7 years to whatch that. It was so awsome....And I actualy had friends then. And Rocko! Oh my....I was just thinking of Rocko a few days ago because someone brought up cow "hefers" (sp?) and I immediatly went into my Rocko voice yelling "Heffer! Hey Hef. HEFFER!"
I think Nick reruns it on the "nicktoons" channel or what ever its called sometimes like around 1:00. I know when I had surgery it was on then, and I whatched it.
Wow....way to make me deppressed guys.![]()
Gundam Wing was my absolute favorite show! Deathscythe was by far the best. I think I still have all my figures around. Did anyone see what they did to Tom on Tunami? He looks terrible!
I mostly remember tunami for the DBZ when i'd get home from school![]()
Gundam Wing was the only Anime in my heart. I hate anime, but I still can't help but love GW.
I know I still have my GW figures somewhere, Deathscythe was awesome but I was always a heavy arms fan. Once GW went off the air and they started with just gundam it went down hill. The only other gundam that was any good was the 008th team (I believe that was the title). A year later DBZ picked up and I would watch dragonball followed by dragonballz in the afternoons. BTW Samurai Jack is where its at!
what about a ''the Avatar the last airbender'' live action movie??
I hate anime, some people say Avatar is anime but its not. Its from US![]()
Yes, me as well. Thats actualy one of the only things I've ever shared a liking for with anyone local.(Still trying to get people into BSG, but thats not happening to quickly.) So my heart deffintly goes out to DBZ (GT, not so much). Tunami...Ahhh....those where the days.
I've not see nuTom, I'm sort of afraid to look into it now!
When does Samurai Jack air? I hadn't seen that it was on!
We're sorta OT here.![]()

Samurai Jack comes on sat. nights at 10:30 during toonami.
Its re-runs anyway, I just tivo them![]()
Well then buy me a Tivo so I can whatch them.
Back to topic....Can you imagine how many Emo kids would be in line to audition for part in a live action movie?I'm thinking either alot.......or one.

the show could never be live action, it would lose all feel of the original show and be littered with vomitable CGI characters.
I personally liked the show, but will agree with the comments about it being appealing to the emo/goth/scenesters/etc. that frequent hot topic.
Not totally hating on those people either, as I used to be a kind of a punk, but then I grew up.
I think if people want this show around they should just live with the box set and watch it at home. It's not coming back except on a T-shirt for $13.95

I love Zim and still watch the DVDs all the time... but hey I like Hot Topic also...
I saw that one and loved it.
