Star Wars Projects With My Boys (now building R2)

So my son (he turns 4 next week) has been asking me to get him "Boba Fett's ship". Of course, I couldn't be more proud. So I get on the internet and start looking around. There's a new one that's really small, so that's out. Lots of stuff on ebay, but the prices are nuts. The vintage Amazon one is sweet, but they're like $100 plus. Cash is tight lately, and that's not going to fly. Then I remember I've had an old one in storage for about 20 years. My kid is a stickler for screen accuracy in his toys, so I broke out the rattlecans and got to work. I spent nothing on this but a few hours of my time, and it was really fun. The toy was not in the best shape, so I don't feel bad about painting it. It has more value to me as an actual toy we can have fun with. The original has it's charm, but it's just so boring looking.

I was really happy with it. He said it looks good, but needs a little more work. Toddlers.

That looks awesome. I may want to do that to mine. What colors did you use?

Lol, thanks a lot guys. He loves it. It's amazing what a little paint can do. The red is Krylon Ruddy Brown Primer. I used a light gray primer on the body and Krylon Italian Olive for the green. Then lots of weathering and Dullcote. It looks so cool, I was flying it around the house after my kid went to bed making pew pew sounds.

I can imagine the pew pew sounds. Imagine if you had your display on, that would be epic.
