    karline-2000 From EBAY

    Hello fellow Dent's
Recently I was cheated out of some dough by a seller on ebay. he never sent me my tk thigh armor. I was curious if anyone knows this person Karline-2000 from ebay. If you do please contact me, if you don't and see his star wars item online; watch out. The short version of this story is that I won the auction back in oct. of last year. He kept replying to my emails saying he'd send me a second set due to the first set being lost. After waiting a really long time, i asked for a refund. This when he decided to disappear. The phone number is disconnected and i have not heard from him since the beginning of jan. This is incredibly upsetting since i feel powerless to do anything. Thanks for listening to me vent.

Paypal or nothing. If an auction doesn't allow me to pay with Paypal, I'm very skeptical. Hopefully you used them, if so, you'll get you're money back. Good luck.

Paypal's not foolproof though. They have a stupid certain-amount-of-days limit on when they will help you.

Hi, I am having the same experience. Bought it in Nov 2007, didn't get the item and I contacted him. He said he'd check, this process past 60 days. In late december 2007 to early Jan 2008, he replied that he is on holiday and will get back to me when he returns. But after waiting for about one and a half week,I filed a dispute over at ebay, he did not reply to my dispute via ebay. Then I send him an e-mail and he did reply about a week ago.

The story is that his stuff was stolen by a postal worker especially for international orders. He says he is going to send me a replacement, about a week ago. I am keeping my fingers cross and giving it a chance. I think I will contact him to see if he has sent it out.

Paypal and ebay has a 60 days limit. Any purchase that are 60 days old, you can't even file for a dispute. I tried this yesterday for another item, a Hellboy bust from canada. But at least I had the tracking by post.

And ... even if they try to recover your funds with "Buyer Protection", there is only so much they can do. For instance, when I was cheated on a snowtrooper armor set from Australia a couple of years ago, there were two things that threw a wrench in the works ... #1 - over seas. Pay-pal can recover funds for you, but if the seller is over seas, it's more difficult. #2 - the seller didn't have enough left in his bank account that was linked to pay-pal ... a lousy $125 out of $450 ! That's what they recovered for me. they wiped out his account, and told me that if more funds become available, they would attempt to recover the rest. Obviously, the seller closed that bank account, and I never saw another dime.

So, the moral of the story is ... don't feel overly confident about pay-pal's buyer protection program. it only works flawlessly, SOME of the time.

Good luck with this man ... I know it's no fun

If you used funds from your credit card you can call MC or Visa or whoever and they'll do a chargeback. Nothing paypal can do about it. That's why now I buy everything online with the credit card unless it's someone like FP or that I know personally.

    Hey Dent's,
Thanks for all your support. Unfortunately I trusted the seller and waited too long to act. There is a certain amount time that ebay, and paypal allots for protection.

Darth cloud, you should pursue him to return your money if he is talking to you. I find it pretty convient all international orders are being stolen.

did you use a credit card as your funding source? if you did there's no time limit. the CC company takes it from paypal, not from the seller and then PP is the one screwed, not you.

Now, bent10_4 I think.... sad he is creating a bad reputation for his country so much so that good prop collectors in his country will be affected in one way or another.

Sorry to read about this issue. There was recently an alert on the 501st forums about this seller. So when I saw the seller's name in the title, I knew this was going to be bad.

I'm all for giving someone a chance, but 31/2 months is a lot ridiculous. From my perspective, having spent almost 14 years in law enforcement, the man is taking advantage of you. I would contact some 501st members from the UK garrison and have them pay this schmo a visit if they can find him......patience is one thing but it's about time to re-enact a scene from Goodfellas on his sorry little.................you get the picture. Make no mistake about it, this guy is trying to take you for a ride. For your
sake, I hope I am wrong.

As far as affecting his feedback, who cares. If he starts to get negative feedback and people don't buy his stuff, maybe he will feel motivated to ship in a timely manner....either that or he will just stop selling. Either way, the probelm gets solved IMO.

    Good luck bro.

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

I lost some money on Bentley O'Toole. He does know how to work the paypal system.

Paypal isn't all that it claims and that is why I ended up dropping them. If you file a claim within the time period, the seller can drag their feet until the last possible day and ship the item. Now they have proof they sent it (all but extremely late). My item arrived broken. The original claim was item was not sent. They closed that because now...60+ days later...they have proof of it being sent. I was honest and said it was received but broken. Paypal did not care as long as they had "item delivered" and would not let me open another claim for broken.

It was fiberglass and although I am less than happy with the quality, I was able to fix it so it is usable for what I needed.

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

    Hi,

I got received a reply from Karline-2000 via ebay. Message says that the items recovered were quite messed up and he has to send me a new one. And he will furnish me the tracking number. Hope I don't get a messed up broken item if and when I receives it.

Notwithstanding the above development. I am giving this vendor the benefit of doubt as a con or rip off; When I asked questions on the item and requested some simple custom modifications to be done, he rejected my request. Here, he risk me not buying the item if my request is not met. Therefore, if he had planned to collect money and not send the item, he would agree to everything I requested.

I am not defending him but just the reasons that led to my decision to give it a chance for a happy ending for all.

Who knows, maybe I am wrong. A group of us at armortek forum was ripped off by giving a vendor in the UK, chance, and exercised patience.... but taken advantage of.... tens of thousands of GBP, affecting customers all around the world... vendor played for time..... well life is full of it.

Lesson learned, if delivery of goods is always delayed time and again... buyer beware. Just my 2c.

    Peace.

I just dug up the thread to find out what it was all about. While I do not want to quote anything or mention any names, I will just write what it was about. I hate to break this to you, but from what I've seen posted in this thread seems to match the complaint on the 501st forums. The seller is using excuses to delay the shipping time past the cutoff for filing a PayPal complaint (45 days.) Also, the seller made up reasons for not being able to provide a tracking number.

I know it's too late to file a complaint with PayPal, but perhaps a complaint can be filed with the credit card company (assuming you used a credit card to make the purchase.)

What is this world coming to if you can't even trust a guy in costume. hehe, i gotta find some humor in this. He finally did contact me; saying he "forgot about me." He said he would refund me, but I guess we will see. Unfortunately I did not use a credit card. I'm really bummed that this guy is getting away.

Easy to solve, you have his area of residence, and obviously his name from paypal. Google the local police station in his area, and report him for theft... or a meth lab.. or something...

Only if he screws you over of course... I had my friends in the Queensland Police ready to summons Bentley O'Toole if he didnt send all my stuff... sent me what he owed me before i had a chance, but never replaced what he promised he would... Im cutting my losses.. best thing i can do is warn people off his gear...

I hope your stuff arrives in undamaged and properly made Good luck bro

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

I placed a stormtrooper helmet order about 8 months ago. After it failed to show up, I asked him about it and he said he'd send me another. Well that somehow never arrived. He's never given me any tracking number information. Well, two months turned to four, then six, then eight. I finally had it with him. Constantly promising to ship out the helmet and then selling the exact same one on eBay. Why can't he just send me the one he's trying to sell?

Each time I questioned him, he made a promise to send it out. And the promise turns into week and months of no communication.

I contacted eBay and they said that if you don't report unshipped items -- despite the Seller's promises and all good intentions -- then they can't follow up on the situation.

I've kept every single message from Karline-2000. Previously I had a successful order from him. This would have been my second transaction ever. But promise after promise, he failed to deliver.

I wholeheartedly agree with the warning against this individual. Steer clear.

    Hi Mac,

I agree, he hasn't reply to me on my tracking number for my TK lid as well. Neither did he bother to reply to my dispute console at ebay.

By the way, did you give this seller a negative feedback?

Thanks for the headsup and Peace

He also stopped replying to me when I asked him about the tracking problem with the tracking number that he supplied.

There is a small claims court in the Uk where you can file a claim on line. But ebay is the first to go and prevent any other potential buyers from getting burnt. I will do my last 7 days wait for the item to appear. Then I will decide to file a complaint to eaby.

    Peace

filing a complaint with eBay is no good. Don't wait the 7 days, just go ahead and contact the authorities. It's the only way you're going to see any money back.

Thank you for the advise which I will seriously consider. Meanwhile, I have e-mail the postal service in the UK to authenticate the postal number/ airway bill, as well as the status of the shipment. That will be part of the building up of evidence for this case in question.

The reason that I am giving it another week is that the seller may be busy creating props for replacing those that were damaged, so not attending to e-mails... I hope.

But when I do take action, there will be no holding back.8)

there is a forum on ebay, maybe you could post a nice post about them and get everyone else who has had problems with them to post here as well

    http://forums.ebay.com/db2/forum.jspa?forumID=107

then direct ebay to read that as part of your proof.

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

I received a reply from parcelforce on the postal tracking number. I was informed that the delivery time to Hong Kong is 5 to 8 days. I am not in Hong Kong! I was promised by the seller a tracking number, but the post number does not entail a tracking service, therefore I can't track it. I am getting a final confirmation on the destination of the postal number.

And looks like Karline2000 is leaving ebay, the imperial guard helmet is the last 3 he is going to sell.

Karline2000, if you are reading this, read this well. I hope all the above were due to poor management of your sales. But if I do not receive what I bought, and I have communicated to you on these errors that you have made via ebay, but no reply from you.

And if I do not receive my item in the next week or two. I WILL MAKE IT MY YEAR 2008 RESOLUTION TO TRACK YOU DOWN AND BRING YOU TO JUSTICE. IF I FAIL IN YEAR 2008, I WILL CONTINUE IN YEAR 2009 AND THEREAFTER UNTIL I GET YOU. YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW RELENTLESS I CAN BE AFTER BEING SCAMED TWICE BY INTERNET SELLERS AND YOU WILL HOPE YOU ARE NOT THE SECOND, "MY FRIEND" (AS YOU ALWAYS USE THIS TERM IN YOUR E-MAILS). There is no way you can escape in this information and electronic age.

    Peace

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

I don’t like getting involved in other people’s affairs, but GO get ‘em!

I recently bought some non-star wars items on Ebay and had two different sellers try to scam me. These items arrived in a condition that did not match the auction’s description. Unfortunately the one seller got away with it. S/he kept saying they were going to send me some replacements, but as soon as the time period for making a claim expired their end of the communications went dead. I wrote a long email to Ebay regarding the seller and the situation. I received an email saying “we’ll look into it” followed by a lot of canned/scripted advice. I don’t think anything was ever done.

When I dealt with the second seller I wasted no time. I gave this person a chance to put things right. I explained the situation to the seller and they more or less told me I was out of luck... NO refunds. They then went on to say if I didn’t like the item, I should sell it to someone else (but then I’d be no better than they were). They also said PayPal nor Ebay would stand behind my claims. Well I immediately filed a claim with PayPal. It took awhile because PayPal needs you to communicate with the seller over monitored emails (to see if the two parties can work it out on their own). The seller started to get a bit nasty at this point. They basically called me a trouble maker, they found me a nightmare to deal with (even though I paid the full funds minutes after the auction ended) and they would block me from their other auctions (I was so disappointed with that one). I escalated the claim and left it with PayPal to decide and guess what - - PayPal is getting my money back (fingers crossed)!

So the moral of the story is... Use caution with any seller (the bad ones out weight the good ones). Remember you're doing business with these people, if it starts smelling FISHY file a complaint with Ebay AND PayPal as soon as possible. You’ll sleep better.

Well that’s my two cents, good luck!

    Hello,

I was the 501st member who started the thread on the seller Karline-2000 on the 501st forums.

Basically, this guy is a fraud and a crook. He tried to steal $300+ dollars from me for some Vader armor. He shipped two different items over a week apart and claimed they were "lost in the mail."

He then tried to extort positive feedback from me when I filed my PayPal claim to get my money back.

His standard mode of operation is this:
    1. He recieves your payment.
    2. Never ships the item.
    3. Fails to provide any tracking information, customs documentation, or anything to prove he mailed the items.
    4. He will stall for time to exceed the 45 day PayPal deadline for filing a dispute.
    5. His usual excuses include, lost in the mail, stolen in transit, on vacation and unable to get the paperwork, out of town for military leave, and on holiday.
    6. If you leave negative feedback, he will retaliate with negative as well and then try to blackmail you into "mutually withdrawing feedback." His account has at least 12+ times that feedback has been withdrawn, which is extremely high.

I have been in contact with at least a dozen former customers from all over the world and his pattern is the same. All of these people, including myself, have filed complaints with Ebay, yet he is allowed to stay in business.

The only thing the public can do is stay away from him.

    Hi SL/TK 8100,

Thanks for posting. This is EXACTLY what is happening to me. Though the dollar amount is not high for the transaction, I feel pissed by this action of deceit. Sure enough, he will appear as another ebay seller sometime later, despite his claims of selling off his moulds to someone else.

Does anybody have the return address from this seller? I need this to write to the authorities in his area and file a police report in my country. And I will get the law enforcement here to help contact the the law enforcement agencies in the UK.

Please pm if you have and the date of the delivery.

For those who are dubbed, what do you say..8)

    Hi SL/TK 8100,

Can you help establish the list of date or dates of reply to the respective buyers from the ebay seller regarding the alleged thief of his shipments by the postal worker/s? This is material fact to the case.

I would opt for this in the open rather than PMs so that our fellow community members can make up their own minds and be more careful in future as well. I am seeking this information for evidence and case to present to the authorities and enlist international law enforcement involvement.

I want to do the right thing and establish facts, so as not to penalise the seller for his administrative incompetence. But deal is a deal, if no delivery or refund for payment received, then it is a default on the contract.

I look forward to your reply. Please provide this link to your 501st.

Solochaser, I do not mean to hijack this thread. If so, I apologise. LMK. This thread is still yours.

    Peace

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

    Hello,

Regardless of his present life situation, it doesnt excuse the pattern of behavior he has demonstrated. If a local postal worker was stealing that much stuff from him, the postal authorities would be investigating if he filed a complaint. Knowing our USPS investigators and assuming the UK inspectors are just as quaified, that worker would be in jail by now.

It does not explain his reluctance to provide simple paperwork for verfication of shipment. If he is running a business, he would have receipts for shipment, tracking information, and customs documents for his overseas customers.

Which brings up another point. It appears that most of is victims (i.e. those lost in the mail) are the overseas customers. Which is convenient since filing criminal charges from another country is extremely difficult, if not impossible.

As far as the high points of my case, I purchases two items from him. The first was paid for on Dec. 4 and he claims was shipped on Dec. 6. The second item was paid for on Dec. 11, he never gave me a date this item was ever shipped. Later that month, he claimed both items were shipped together, which is contradictory to his previous message. I filed a dispute with PayPal the first week of January 2008. PayPal investigated and gave me my money back.

During the entire month of December, I sent messages to the seller asking for updates on shipping and never received any proof of shipment, only excuses as to why he didnt have it available. Towards the end, he stopped answering e-mails until I filed the claim with PayPal.

Sorry, but this seller has given no reason whatsoever for benefit of a doubt, nor am I buying his "hard luck" excuses.

    Regards,
    TK/SL-8100

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

    Darth Clouds, cblackthorne,

    That was totally his m.o.

I had sent this to eBay Disputes. This is the problem with believing someone to follow through and allowing them to drag you past the maximum allowable time for eBay to penalize them. After the allotted time, eBay "greys out" the old transaction and removes the auction ID from the database and thus you can't file a dispute claim against an inactive number.

    Payment Method: PayPal
    Date of Payment: 05/11/07
Seller Contact: Yes, But the issue is unresolved

    Customer concern: Dear eBay Dispute.

This in regards to an auction paid for back in 5/11/2007 through PayPal but has not been received, and it's been about 9 months now.

(I've tried to use the dispute console but this situation of not having received my item has gone on for so ridiculously long that the auction information has now vanished. I have kept email records of every eBay system message I've received so I can back up everything I'm saying.)

I ordered a "stormtrooper a.n.h stunt helmet kit" (item #180114158877) -- basically a Star Wars-based Stormtrooper Stunt life-sized helmet from eBay user "karline-2000" who is currently selling the same kind of item (180202029342). It has never arrived. Repeated PMs through eBay for a tracking number were sidestepped with assurances that it was in the mail. I've asked for a refund and he would not provide it. I decided to just let him send me a helmet. The first was allegedly lost in the mail. The second still never arrived. The third attempt was thwarted due to some UK mail strike (yet I received postage from the UK). And still no response after inquiries.

Below are excerpts of PM's received from karline-2000. You'll note that I asked for a refund, which he said he could not give but would give me another product instead. At this point, my money was trapped in this individual and I had no choice. But I'd much prefer a refund and be done with this individual once and for all. I will never transact with him again.

PayPal transaction ID: 7SA885694V0713518 to Robert Galloway for GBP 119.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
And now the messages from karline-2000. I gather you guys went through the same blasted grief I have.

Our objective is clear for this gathering of his customers who paid but not received the item either: receive an item same as pictured and described, a refund, or reduce the risk exposure to unethical business practices for our peers and young one. And not to target individuals' character or create soap. There are many life issues to attend to as well.

After what we have gone through, it is natural to be skeptical. And to address this, I decided to put up a name list that is open for public scrutiny and accessment. We can collect data, track, analyze and prove beyond doubt. But before this is done, I will refrain from any conclusions. Furthermore, it is also good for the seller that we publish a list, if all is make good, justice is done for the seller's reputation.

In general, keeping things private and fragmented has it's pitfalls in this endeavor for all.

I was given a post tracking number on the 6th of February 2007 which is not good for tracking and was told that it has been sent. If it is sent, I should be receiving it somewhere now or next week.

Let's be positive and give the guy a chance to come through, he may have been a victim of Murphy's law (where disaster strikes unexpectedly and maybe continously). Having said that, he has not proven the theft case which IMO would be easy since the authorities would have been involved.

Does the guy and gals over at the rebelsum and other forums know?

    Peace

Just a quick check. Since the time some of you supplied your details at the rpf for a resolution; have you receive what you asked for? Or has anyone contacted you and delivery, or refund is in-progress.

LMK. And some updates over at the rpf on this case. Now the guy says he is migrating.

This whole situation sucks, i hate waiting on people to receive stuff when you know they probably have no intention of sending it.

I bought from Karline-2000 last year and i received the helmet within a couple of weeks but then i am in the uk! I wish people would just stop being theiving little bas@~#!s, this is what gives ebay a bad name.

These situations make me so angry, if anyone finds out where this guy lives in the uk and it aint to far from me, i dont mind making a personnel visit, nothing violent just to find out what the deal is!

Wow, that is mighty kind of you. If it is not against thedentedhelmets policy in sharing info, I may take you up on that offer. I totally agree with you in not being violent. A face to face inquiry could help tremendously.
    thanks.

Yeah just make sure you dress in a suit and act overly kind at first and then be like "So, it appears you have some outstanding transactions with my client..." but be all serious like.. least thats how I'd do it, be non violent but scare the hell out of him none the less

the customer was me, and i'm in the uk. he claimed he posted it next day delivery, but it turned up a week and a day late with a next day lable on it, so he lied about that. i also had no other contact with him in the time since it was shipped to the time it arrived

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

    Hello everyone,

I just noticed this thread while doing some google search, and read all of the messages. I want to tell you a few words about my experience with this seller.

I live in Istanbul, Turkey; and I wanted to buy a Royal Guard helmet last fall. I did some eBay search and found this nice-looking helmet from user karline-2000. It was the second time that I was buying something from eBay and I had alot of questions in my mind. karline was so quick to answer all of them. I asked him to pack it real good because I had the feeling that the helmet might get damaged during its way to Turkey, I asked him to give me a tracking number, and I also asked him to declare it under $100 so that I wouldn't have to pay customs tax. His answers to all these were yes.

But after I ordered it, suddenly, I had long delays about getting replies to my messages. For over two weeks, he hadn't sent me any tracking number, I was getting very worried and thinking if I made a mistake by doing business with this guy. The tracking number he gave me didn't work, I sent him many messages about this but there were no replies. I sent an email to parcelforce about this tracking number but they said there were no such numbers that has been given with a shipment. After a day or two, I received the notice from the customs that I have a package. That was a bit of relief.

When I went to take the package, I got very worried about the condition of the helmet because from outside, it looked like it was stuck into a box smaller than itself, and the box looked like someone sat on it. Luckily, there were no damages on the helmet. But the guy at the customs told me that I have to pay the tax. karline failed to declare it under $100. Three failures, out of three. This guy deserves negative feedback, right?

And I left him a negative feedback. His response was very offensive, he insulted me on all of his messages and left me a negative too. I managed to remain calm and pointed out my complaints in a very professional and straight manner. After a while, like some of you said, he offered me to mutually withdraw the feedbacks, which I refused.

I emailed eBay about this situation but they said that we could only mutually withdraw the feedback. Now that karline-2000 is gone from eBay, maybe I should try asking them again? The feedback he left me was very unjust.

In conclusion, I can say that I had a fine Royal Guard helmet but it costed me more than money; worrying and concern.

    Re: karline-2000 From EBAY

Important update for those people who are still owed stuff by karline-2000 aka Rob Galloway.

i believe that he is now trading again on eBay under a different user name.

although this user was registered last year its entirely possible this is the same person.

he is trading from south yorkshire UK, which is where karline-2000 traded from, also after studying the photos of the helmets this new seller has for sale they are nearly identicle to the one i bought from Rob, down the certain flaws near the frown.

he is also selling car parts and moterbike parts as karline-2000 did. if any one requires the new sellers eBay ID PM me.

i'm 99% certain that this is the same seller.

meaning his story of emmigrating to australia was b/s
