I've got the fever for the flavor......

And the flavor is.......MUSTARD!!!!!!

So I finally mustard up the courage and tried the mustard masking thing over the weekend on my gauntlets. Were has Colonel Mustard been all my life? It was the most amazing thing. It worked beyond expectations! I never knew you could do THAT with mustard.

So I would like to personally thank the person who came up with this idea and say "Wat ho! my good lad. Well done."

And yes, the smell of paint and mustard equal a good time

You can use Toothpaste too I think Mustard works better though. Personally, I just use the liquid mask.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE mustard...
but I'll stick with the masking fluid?

What does that taste like? Did you also try paste as a kid?

Yea I have used the mustard meathod for years, I have recentally switched to masking fluid. The only problem with the mustard is if you are painting on white paint it can stain it, also if you clear coat or dull coat later it can turn yellow.

Doesn't Vasoline work also??? I javen't tried it but I have read that it works too.

Tastes funny but works.

I don't know about vasaline. That stuff is a pain to get of off things you might remove something you don't want to getting it off. I don't really know for certain though I've never tried it.

I have heard that Vasaline or any patrolium based jelly can strip paint, so I did a quick search and found this Peeling Paint Technique using petroleum jelly (Vasceline), so it looks as though you can. I would probably ere on the side of caution and test it out first.

with all of the debates about pros and cons of various things, i wonder why people bother with all of these alternative methods, rather than using the stuff that's made for doing this

I have found that with masking fluid my brush get gummed up very quickly and becomes un-usable in minutes. With mustard this does not happen. But mustard does stain sometimes.

No lie, I actually stained my pants today at lunch with mustard from my corndog, now that is one hard stain to get out!

*** that is the funniest SNL skit...well that and "Da Bears!".

Mustard is like .80cents, and the masking fluid is like $12, at least it is here for a tiny little bottle.And I mask a lot of things so,I stick with the least expensive route.lol
Once you get the hang of it ,it works every bit as good as the fluid.
