Interest: TDH Shirt of the Month run.... finally. :)

Finally back online....two weeks without the interwebs is not fun. Just wondering if you got my updated mailing address. I pm'd it to you before I moved but it could have been lost in the shuffle.

Not yours in particular, David. Thank you, but that particular problem isnt something you guys who paid should have to make up for, bruv. :)

Disposable, I did get it, but I'll probably be hitting you up, just to double check. :)

Hello fellow Hunters,

I know most of you are all waiting ‘patiently’ for your shirt to arrive. Trust me, I was too! Being that one of the designs was mine, I couldn’t wait to have a new TDH shirt and I was excited to know that a few of you would be wearing a TDH shirt I designed. That made me a happy hunter!!

BUT... as you can see by the pics, the shirt that I designed is NOT the shirt you will be receiving or the shirt that you have paid for. And NO, I had nothing to do with this.

Now I see that Sonik is upset that he got his ‘butt handed to him’ over the lack of the print and calling me out like I’m the bad guy at CV telling people my image was ‘destroyed’. Most artist I know would be upset too if they had done something and then when it was completed it looked different... especially when it was never mentioned to them or anyone else for that matter. Sonik... you should have never paid out of pocket for a printer to do anything to the artwork. If there was an issue with it then you should have contacted me and I would have fixed it. As for the print on the back... it was type, in one color just like you have it now... with the crossbones logo. So what was the problem there? One color, one plate... so there is no reason that should have changed.

I don’t know why you didn’t ask me to change or fix whatever problem the printer was having. It’s not like we weren’t talking through PM’s almost on a nightly basis. All you had to say was, ‘Dude, can you help me out and tweak the image a bit, the printers are trying to charge me?’ That’s it... problem fixed. But instead you did what you wanted, complain about the ‘out-of-pocket’ money and call me out on the boards like I’m the bad guy. People expect to get what they pay for. I mean, it’s the same feeling as if you bought a Fett helmet off someone on TDH and when it arrived at your house, you open the box and it’s a Stormtrooper helmet, it’s not what you paid for.... wouldn’t you be upset too? I really don’t care that you changed the color of the shirt, but to change the look of it without telling me or anyone else that spent money on them... is just wrong in my opinion. People paid money for a certain thing and they are being given/sent something different. I’d like to think that everyone on TDH has each others back... this is no different. I would have helped you no matter how long it took to get right. So, excuse me for being a little upset when I saw the image on the shirt changed.

This project sat around for a about a year, yes without anything happening with it. So you took it and ran with it. That’s awesome and we’re all glad you did. Like you said, life gets in the way a lot of times and people can’t do everything they want. So no one was able to get to this. Wether it be, work, wife, husband, kids, pets, sick or dying. Life happens... it’s not an easy task to do a project like this - I just did a shirt run for the Legion - so I know... we all know. We all understand there’s hiccups. So if you can’t do it, you can’t do it... no biggie. But don’t do it, then complain about it and throw other people under a bus.

Wow.... pot callin the kettle black much. Second of all, as far as that particular back image.... I NEVER said that was what I was going to use. Second off, the ONLY thing you had to pay for was shipping. So what exactly, do you have to complain about?

And again, I'm finished doing shirts.... period. Congrats, mission accomplished!

Dude... you are totally missing the point. The image that I submitted for the shirt was a TDH design. So I put 'The Dented Helmet' on the front and the TDH logo on back... THAT WAS THE POINT OF THE SHIRT! And I don't care if I paid for just the shipping... that's just me. What about the other 30 people that paid full price for something they're NOT getting. I don't think people would have wanted or paid for a new TDH shirt if it DIDN'T SAY TDH!

And I'm sorry, but what kettle am I exactly calling black? You did what you wanted to a shirt design that was not yours... the artist is upset about it and talks to the owner of the board. And you're mad because someone called you out on it? Really? Did you think it was ok to just take some ones artwork and do whatever you wanted to it and expect the person to just let it slide?

If you can't understand why I am more upset that TDH members are NOT getting what they paid for.... then it's a blessing that you're not doing anymore shirt runs.

Dude... people paid $25 for a shirt they're NOT getting... how hard is that to understand??

Wow..havent been on here a in a little bit...unfortunately Sonik, im going to have to agree with Dutch. I wanted the shirt because of the exact design, and the color of the shirt. the text and that it was a TDH shirt is what sold it for me. i LOVED the "where the hunt begins" phrase. The image originally posted was what i was expecting. Not a rectangle with the image in it without the text. What im seeing there, besides it not having the text, and it looking smaller than i expected, looks like a heat transfer. It very well may not be, but the way it is done, thats what it looks like. The green rectangle in the middle of the shirt, makes it look cheap. Certainly not what i paid $25 for. I could have taken the image myself from the site and heat transferred it to a shirt and it would look just like this, but with text! I also do not wear white shirts, so this is an all lose situation for me. i think Dutch is 100% right, and you should have just asked him to fix what needed to be fixed. Honestly i dunno what kind of printer this is, but ive done silkscreening and worked with printers before. Ive also done plenty of print ready computer work. Fonts dont need to be vectored. All he had to do was vector the image (which is one click in a program) and if the text got lost, just re-type it. Worsecase senerio, he would ahve needed the font from you/Dutch..the whole thing takes very little time. I dont know why this guy was trying to charge you so much for a simple alteration, that apparently he couldnt even do. ANY printer should know how to do that. Its pretty sad this guy coulndt do a simple thing, he may need to find a new line of work.
Now Sonik, Understand, i do appreciate what you tried to do here, and will not ask for a refund, youve been through enough, with all this, but i must say that when the shirt actually arrives ill probably only be wearing it to sleep. Pretty disappointed in how these turned out...really mutilated a great design.

Agree. Runs are a pain in the rear and always something seems to come up. But a notice of the change before the run was finalized to see if the members still wanted to proceed would have been the way to go. I have learned this from the runs I did for the squad and our garrison. It's a nightmare at times but communication is the main thing to keep up. Sometimes runs just fall through and sometimes they go great. But since I usually do official 501st related runs, anytime there is a change of anything you are expected to post it up right away. I mean the shirt works and no slight to you sonik but I IMHO I was excited about Dutches design and color scheme and like Voorhees said it looks odd the way it ended up coming out. Again no slight to you, I guess that was the printers deal. Also not sure of the printer you used, but I have heard where the printer puts something out that isn't what you ordered they will usually regrettably eat it and redo it correctly at no extra cost to you.

Hold on a second.... Who got a WHITE shirt? The shirt color was khaki, and that was WELL discussed prior to taking ANY payments. You know what, screw it, I fail.... I'll get the shirts out to those who ordered them, paid or unpaid. If you want a refund, then contact me. As funds become available, then I will get you your money. I will be putting my Fett up for sale soon, to help with paying for a new run of shirts and shipping. Then everyone will be happy and rid of me. Seems like everytime I try to help, I get slapped in the face, so maybe this isnt where I belong......

At this point I feel like I'm being lumped in with Starfortress and Evolution and its making me sick to my stomach. I have entirely too much negative stuff going on in my life right now to be able to deal with being burned at the stake at the one place I enjoy being...

i think your 2nd post said it would be a jolly dent on the back and i do remember khaki too . i know i've been on u the hardest about getting them out but i for sure dont want u to sell your fett. it just a t-shirt . wont ask for refund.

well dude....if it costs me 30 bucks for you to keep your fett....its money well spent..don't bother shipping my shirt....not going kick a guy when he's down....good luck buddy..

I appreciate your effort on this project and while I would have enjoyed the first design much better as I really wanted something to reflect being a member of the TDH, I'm in no way going to ask for a refund either.

PLEASE don't sell your fett over something like this. C'mon, how many times have people dropped money on this hobby (BF or some other costume), and when they got the item either something better comes out that you buy (and you're out the money for the "older" piece), or you're just not happy with the item and subsequently go and find something better.

I'm not worried over $25 and from the lessons learned from this project I'm sorry you won't be doing anymore shirt runs because like anything else, projects get easier every time you do another one (ie, people improving on armor or helmets or paint schemes).

Happy or not, if $25 is breaking your bank then how do you have the money to be in this hobby anyway? Collectively I don't see ruining some other persons lively hood and family life over a matter of $25 is worth my time or energy.

The advice you've given me offline and on here is worth $25 (or more), IMHO just because it's saved me time and money in either not buying something I wouldn't have liked or the effort in researching it so I could spend more time doing other things.

Just my .02 but I felt compelled to post something.

Sean

DS1,

I don't this is what anyone wants, even those who are the most frustrated and outspoken. Here is the long and short of it from a site perspective. You went out on a limb in an effort to help the site (which is still greatly appreciated) but due to miscommunication and misunderstanding (some of which I take blame for) you fell a short on execution. Does this make you a bad person or someone who is to be shunned here at TDH? Absolutely not. You are not the first person to have a run go south. Historically, there are two ways people handle situations like this; either they allow a mishap like this to make them feel like a victim and they slink away with their tail between their legs, embittered and angry, or they admit they blew it, correct what they can, and move on to the next project. Those who choose the former route tend to end up becoming TDH-bashers who go around to other sites being angry and vengeful and seeking like company. The latter, well, a lot of the latter are still here, actively participating, enjoying the site and even becoming more involved in the hobby. While I won't name names, there are people right now on the site who are revered as "rock stars" who have had far greater blunders than this and they have weathered it and even come out on the other side looking even better.

I say all this because I feel like you are starting to head down that former path and it is simply not necessary. As I said, while there was clearly a misunderstanding or expectations, I still appreciate your effort and will tell you that there is no reason to sell your Fett or make a dramatic exit. This community is very forgiving and willing to move on, if you are.

Sorry, the color is my bad...it looks white in that picture that was posted. i honestly forgot it was supposed to be khaki.

I didnt, and will not ask for a refund, im not attacking you bro, just stating it sucks what happened. I see it more a printer error than yours. It could have been a simple fix but the person wasn't capable and that just sucked. yea you could have done things differently, but hey it could have been worse. whats done is done not THAT big a deal Lord knows i wouldnt want ANYONE to sell their fett for anything like this. Beleive me i know all about runs going south.

I make Vader helmets...had 10 orders, got them done in the 6 months i said and then summer hit, and because this run i decided to offer them in resin rather than fiberglass...they warped due to extreme heat here. So i now have to do all 10 all over again....in fiberglass...so i know how it feels to want to throw it all away, but dont man, your a cool dude and just got hit with a lil bad luck with a run.

i dunno if this was directed at me, but for the record, Batmann539, $25 isnt breaking my bank, which is why i am not asking for a refund, that and Sonik has been through enough with this run.

Ami disappointed about how they came out, yes, but i didnt mean to make it seem its all Soniks fault. I still greatly appreciate his efforts in these runs.

I, personally, am still looking forward to getting these shirts and wearing them. They are t-shirts. Not tailored Italian suits. If they look a bit different due to run changes, se la vie. At least I will have a couple of Fett shirts, finally.

Thanks again, Sonik.

Especially don't sell the suit!!! You will regret it!!! Sold mine twice and it took me 8 years to get it back.
Thank you for the quick response and the professionalism with which you are handling the confusion!!! You were accommodating with me when I asked about payment issues and it was greatly appreciated.
