I give up

Hi guys, this is me just saying goodbye for awhile. The boards are full of great info, lots of good pics and some nice people, but I have to give up now.

I wanted to wait till tomorrow to see what happens with this, but I have to vent. Maybe I will wake up with a better mood, but I doubt it.

Long story short, I have had a very bad transaction and I cant take it anymore. I bought (paid for) a FP premium kit few months back from a board member ( NOT FETTPRIDE!!). It took over 2 months to get it in from overseas due to some delays, it happens, I know, but thats no excuse for shorting the helmet of parts or packing it like it were something like a football, or a block of wood or something else that you would REALLY have to try and break. The box was a flimsy grocery box that was maybe 3/4 of the way full with shredded paper so the helmet and parts bounced around from England to New Orleans and the helmet paid for it. It has cracks in the outer gelcoat around the top corner of the t-slot, the right lower ear piece has a chip in it and its missing half of the parts its supposed to have.

So now after fighting with my wife about the initial purchase, tying up 340+ dollars and 2 months of my life, I have nothing to show for it. I cant repair this helmet on my own, I dont have the skills or the knowledge. I put it and a jet pack for sale in the cargo hold.

Like I said guys, its just too much for me right now. All of the Vader stuff I bought went by without a single problem, all my Fett stuff has just been cursed I think!

Hey man, sorry about your loss. All one has to do is see my thread right under yours and you can see I completely understand how you feel right now. All I can say is you just gotta hang in there...it will, hopefully, get better. I haven't been here for too long myself, but the I can already tell that a lot of people come and go.

for proof, here's my thread
http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f22/help-anybody-dealing-predatormv-37287/

so yeah, keep your head up(y)

Unfortunately, I'm sad to say you can't. There's a whole bunch of amazing people here that are willing to help you be able to make the best suit you can, and it's just my luck that I'm the one that has problems(n) But like I said, I've thought about quitting so many times already, but I know that finally finishing this costume will be one of the best experiences I've had by the end of it all and am glad I didn't quit

Don't give up :) there are a lot of good fellows here on TDH, it took a year for me to collect everything, and i only got one problem on one of the Girth belt run... So it is not that bad at all... I experienced long waiting time on several items, but those were all eventually sorted out...

Plz do come back !

Bro, if you want me to fix that FP helmet for ya i will do it for free, just pay shipping. i can lay in another layer of glass for ya, and prep it for paint, and send it back to ya. Just a thought. If you really really want out...id buy it from ya ....but i dont have the money LOL!

I'm so sorry to hear this. Let me extend a hand to you brother. I'll help you out with this. I did something very similar for Rob (Deadland) and am no stranger to helping out when I can. Btw Rob, yours shipped today ;-)

I'll replace your helmet my man. It may take a bit of time as there are paid members ahead, but I would certainly help you take care of this and help restore some of your faith in this community. Don't worry about the $$. And tell your wife all is ok :)

I'll shoot you my number if you want it, or friend me on FaceBook. It's there if you want to give me a ring.

Best,

Chris

Who is better than FP? NO ONE! thats a great offer Chris, one of the many reasons i have much respect for you as a person, and for what you do. I am proud to own your armor sir!

Wow. I'm relatively new to the board and I have to say the outcry of help and kind words is remarkable. It's a hard thing, being part of a community and being screwed over by people in it. Especially one as small and open-armed as this one. It's happened to me on other boards, but not here (so far so good).

Fettpride, that's really cool of you to step up, you too Darth Voorhees, to offer to help. Hell, if I could glass, I'd do it for you, Jokerfish. And as for you Verbal21, that's a really, really ****** thing to have happen as well. At what point do those types of people get banned? I've had some pretty bad run-ins on evilBay and a couple on the RPF, but for the most part, it hasn't been too bad. Buying from over-seas is sooooo risky! I got a FULL ANH Vader from Denmark and I tell you, I was shaking in my boots the 6 weeks it took to arrive, but I was lucky and everything was safe and sound.

Anyways, it sounds like the community is willing to take care of you, so I wouldn't quit on us yet!

There he is steping up to the plate again, like I keep saying Chris you are the man::cheers thank you and off to stalking the postman!!!

Tim Chris did a similar thing for me a few months back mind you he did not have to since the mistake was mine but he did anyways and Chris is about as stand up as they get on here. Don't let this take you away from completing your Fett hell I have been at it for the last 5 years and one of these days I swear I will get it done!!! Stay with us even if it means just taking a breather while you await a new lid from Chris.

Wow, it's great to see people pull together like that.

Unfortunately, you really never know who to trust. You can go by reputation (searching the board), but even those with the best reps mess up.

It's harsh, but the advice I usually give people is not to spend any money you can't afford to lose. Any time I buy something, I essentially send the money, hope for the best, and prepare myself to have just made a charitable donation to someone's college fund.

Wow, Chris....Wow.....in all the communities I've participated in, I've never seen such comradery as I've just witnessed here.
All the more reason to call "here" "home".

As you can see, Jokerfish...things do get better!

Hey guys!

Wow, what a wake up I had this morning! I will say that my outlook on my fett has certainly changed. I went to bed disgusted with the whole scenario, ready to move along and I will say that I do not think this is the case now. I woke up and read all of this and literally felt like the community as a whole did not want a member to leave. This is not something you usually see. Most of the time on a message board its just a bunch of people who could honestly not care about what the other members do, much less if they are leaving. I honestly feel like I would be walking out on a bunch of good people who had nothing to do with my bad transactions, and of course shorting myself the opportunities to know some good people.

This helmet took a beating, but its not going to beat me. I slept it off, its time to start moving forward. That offer from fettpride is impossible to pass up, so I am staying. I want to slow build this fett like I always planned. Slow, steady, and with the RIGHT parts. Thats why I wanted the FP so bad in the first place, from mt research, you cant get any better.

Lou, you my friend are top notch. You were one of the first people I talked to on these boards, and if we ever meet up in person, Steak dinner on me! I would not have gotten my Vader finished without you brother, and every time I have a question, you have the answer.

Mr FettPride, PM incoming. The work you do for this community is second to none. Your offer to help me out was by far above and beyond, kudos to you sir!

All of you other guys, thanks for having my back in my moment of doubt. I cant tell you how good that made me feel today. I look forward to building this suit as planned

Thank you all for "talking me off the ledge"!

Awesome bro! glad i can help...im always here to help the best i can! FP is top notch as always, glad he's gonna help ya out! ...and Glad your staying brother!

dang how do I join in the convo here? jokerfish... Don't go... wait there are a great group of folks here!!! Yay jokerfish I'm glad you are staying FP and the others who stepped up to help you are top notch folks... Glad you are staying!!!

Ok now I feel complete... Glad you are staying on with the project dude... Your wife will understand, as many of ours have that this is something that is going to make you smile and happy and content, and all the mushy stuff that goes with it, lol... Have fun with your build and please do take your time... Enjoy the boards and the process to Fett

Jokerfish - I'm really happy you're saying - the only agony I want to see on this forum is on Han Solo's carbonite-encrusted face! Leaving the Fett game is disappointing enough, but leaving with a sour taste in your mouth - I don't want anybody to do that. And if I can get my wife to go from not knowing what Star Wars is to actually encouraging me to complete 501st-approved costumes, then anybody can!

Chris - I'm genuinely impressed! The members of TDH owe you a huge debt for all the wonderful contributions you've made, and this is just another example. Seeing the work you put into your helmets is actually what made me take the leap into starting my Fett, and witnessing the generous spirit that you and other members show here on a daily basis is what keeps me here.

Glad your being helped and you're faith is being restored in this community... Chris and Lou are stand up guys. I'm glad to own and wear their craftwork!
