Hey,

I am really interested in where the cheaper places to live are.

Can you all please post what is the average rent for a 1 bedroom in your neck of the woods. Not the worst place, but not the best place.

We are thinking of jumping ship to somewhere....

Hmm probably average is about $400 a month here plus utilities

Edit- $400 is the lower end of the scale. Looks like $500-$600 for average

About $300 are here...I know such things only because my family is in the buisness. :p But you wouldn't want to live here....like at all. :facepalm :p

About 800 - 1200 here. Depends on where you go. Some areas of the SF bay area are higher, some lower. My friend pays about 1K a month, maybe a bit less for a 1 bedroom. He's about 2 blocks away from the PD but his area is still a bit dicey! Let me just say that I wouldn't want to leave my car there overnight!

For a super nice apt in a still developing area I used to split rent and payed $400/mo.
The apartment was two bed, two bath, with a kitchen and big living room and the complex had a pool. I took the smaller bedroom so I paid a little less. Total rent I think was $1200/mo.

Then I have a friend who pays $550/mo for 1 bed, 1 bath, living room and kitchen. In a good, but not great, but not bad area.

I hope that helps.

Where are you thinking of moving? Possibly near your son in NC...??

Where I'm staying at you can get a 1 bedroom with internet, cable, utilities, phone, and fully furnished for $840 a month. Nicest, safest complex in the city.

Not to mention the 2 pools, gym, weight room, free ps3 for lease signing, and less than 5 minutes from everything downton.

Yeah, I live in Southern California... 'cheap' is not a word I would use to describe rents... you dont really want to know what a 1BR goes for out here.

=P

Like these guys say, you should totally move to NC! (y);)

In a nice area around here at least $550 for a single.

As you get closer to milwaukee it starts dropping.

I had friends near campus that split a double near the same price.

Crappy areas tend to have the cheapest rent (duh)

everywhere else just charges whatever they feel like.

Definitely do your homework though. Nothing sucks more than moving into a place you turn out to hate a month later and being stuck there for the rest of the lease.
