How much did that cost????

Fett 4 Real

Sr Hunter
So I'm in the Air Force and we had a little "trunk or treat" this evening for the kids of the parents in our squadron, and my buddy said hey dress up as Boba Fett and I accepted and all of course. Had a few of the parents ask how much did all that cost and the usual where do you get something like that. Had alot of that at CV but those are sometimes people that kinda understand. But how do you guys go about saying thousands? I didnt go into details of how much i spent, but do you guys?

I'm USAF too and my squadron is doing Trunk or Treat tomorrow evening. I was thinking of going as Boba myself. :) Depends on the weather, though.

I've got about $4000 into my costume and I'm not shy about it. If someone asks I tell them. But I explain how you can't just buy an awesome costume at spencers, it takes some time to assemble all the parts and that the fan made parts are made by hand by very sklled makers who want nothing less than the best. Don't feel awkward about it, this hobby is just as real as comic book collecting or restoring classic cars.

I said alot but you know Ive never added it up....I may do that here in a minute
guess its about 4g plus all the time i spent painting and the paint ive used and time waiting plus another few hundo for the GMH Im waiting for

I will be doing a Trunk or Treat tonight... Of course going as Boba! Both my sons are going as Jango & Boba Too...

When people ask me the price of everything I just tell them "alot"... and usually say about $1500 when they want a number. I have some props made my makers here but I also can paint them up decently myself so I save some $ there.

Its true... other people have other hobbies that can be just as expensive over time. My buddies play golf, bowl, hunt, even play poker... at least I have something tangible that can be seen and displayed (and trooped in!)

Two USAF guys on one post? wow.. there sure are a lot of Airmen on this forum... (I just left AD USAF) :)
That's because us air force guys seem to congergate to the cooler things in life.... lol.......

Most of the metal that i use for the really bendy stuff i picked up on the side of the curb. Metal cabints are a good place to start as it's very thin and very easy to bend. Granted i would not use it to make the base armor out of IE. chest plates and that stuff, but for the jet pack and gauntlet or possiby something else that works awesome. Think on average if you scruonge most of what you use 1 to 2 k per costume depending on how much extra bits you add to it

If I had one and it cost like 3k, then I would say "like 3k and 5 long years of sleepless nights."

Or I could go with the good'ole "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you."

I'm usually straight with them. I've got close to $6K into my suit, and I'll admit it.

The exceptions are cases where I feel that could be a risk. For example, there are events where we will troop then store our stuff in the cars while we go eat. If I'm nervous that someone might want to bust my window for that $6K suit in hopes of selling it, I'll keep quiet and just use some "cost, I took it when I beat the last guy that had it" type line.

LMAO I have two of those! The boba is pretty much done but I think the new money pit will be Boba Helmets dont know how the wife likes that though she says they all look the same :p
