Gotta have the support of the fans. I guess he doesn't want sponors either.
coors light. lol
help me out...im confused...
hunnh?????
ufc heavyweight championship. brock lesner vs. frank mir. lesner gave it to mir grizzly style.
It is making sense now. Thanks! :lol
gotcha!
get on youtube, you can probably find hi-lites
Thats the best shape ive ever seen Frank in, hes usually flabby and he showed up cut and lean. Wish that fight could have gone longer, would have been really fun to see how well Brock's jujitsu defense is.........
On a sid,e note Heavy Weight Division is looking pretty bleak right now, wish they could strike up a deal Lesner VS Emilnenko (sp) who IMO is the best fighter in the world and hes not even in UFC
how many rounds did it go...if it did or was it a KO
ref stopped the lesner fight in the second round. then lesner went and talked trash to mir after he just beat the man. i have no respect for a guy like that.
talked trash to mir, talked trash to the interview, flipped off the crowd. he was a general d-bag about the entire thing.
I read on Yahoo that Dana had a talk with both him and Henderson about his last blow to Bisping when he was clearly "out." Henderson said he had that last blow to make sure he kept his mouth shut.
this is what the UFC needs a heel to bring in the FANS,IN MY OPINION THE ufc IS BORING AND NEEDS SOME KIND OF STORY TO GO WITH IT,AND WHAT BETTER WAY THAN AN EX wwe SUPER STAR,LOOK AT ALL THE PUBLICITY THEY ARE GETTING NOW ALL PLANNED TO BRING IN THE PEOPLE TO VIEW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
that si true, i was hoping lesner would get beat, but i will have to wait to next time.
Mir talked a ton of smack prior to the fight though and he really did get lucky the 1st time around. I think Brock should of been the better man and not flipped the crowd off but I was totally fine with him going up to Mir after and saying talk smack now...Mir's face looked like damaged fruit!
I jumped for joy too when Bisping got KO'd! Sorry to all my Brit friends here but Bisping never shuts up!
And GSP is getting better and better...
alves(sp) should have got some BJJ and wrestling training before that fight. gsp was taking him down at will. i was really suprised that fight went the 5 rounds. gsp should have submited that guy in the second or third round.
GSP's takedowns are virtually unstoppable. Other than that, I think he was a little off his game for the fight. He is probably my favorite fighter in the sport at the moment. He is the complete opposite of Lesner as far as class goes. The UFC doesn't need to turn into the WWE. I lost what respect I had for Brock after what he did post fight. Going into the figtht I didn't care who won, and I thought I could have gone either way. If/when there is a Mir/Lesner III I'll definately be rooting for Mir!
i watch the ufc for the fighting and the skill the fighters, not for a soap opera.
ufc is the biggest **** in my eyes ... >:
But thatīs just my opinion. Showing children how to fight ... life is brutal enough ... sorry, but thatīs no sport ... itīs just rough **** fighting ... 10 fighting styles at once but none is done right.
"hey I am able to do a bit of this, and a bit of this ... nothing perfect but I am the greatest ..."
Biggest wonder is the upcoming hype about this **** ..... :?
I still try to find the "sport" in it ... maybe someone can explain it to me ...
or better not ... :D
they have to be well rounded because most fighters of one disipline get killed in the octagon. you have to have good stand up and good ground skills.
a karate guy is great on his feet, but what happens when he is flat on his back with a guy on top of him??? karate does not cover ground fighting. that is why you need to learn at least enough BJJ to get back to your feet.
are you kidding me, it does not take skill to get out of an armbar ?? or to stop a guy from taking you down to the mat?? or how to get out of the clinch??
if you do not see skill in that , i do not know what to say to you, except go to a local MMA gym and roll with some of the guys there and see if you don't learn a thing or two.
To me, UFC is starting to become a spectacle like WWE when they brought in Brock with his tattoo that everyone picks on him about on The Underground, but now on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter they are going to have Kimbo on there ? ? ?
I remember seeing Dana talking about Kimbo after he lost that fight on CBS and saying what a loser he was, that he got knocked out by some guy who wasn't even a champion on the UFC and now he's on the payroll ? ?
I used to like it when Japan had the Pride Fighting Championship, cause it was just the big two (UFC and PFC) showcasing some great fights.
Now I wonder if Dana can get Fedor, and maybe even Bob Sapp. . .
But Lesnar is no people's champion and the last thing we need is for the UFC to start having smack talk sessions before fights.
Other than that, GSP !!!!!!!

The whole Lesnar business is getting so blown out of proportion. The guy was fully hyped up to win the fight, won and then let Mir know what's up since Mir had talked so much ****. The crowed booed him and in the moment he screwed up by giving them the bird...
If you watch the post match press conferences though, he fully apologizes and comes across very sincerely. Dana is a class act and I know he'll never let the UCF become the WWE or anything like that. That's all phony stage talking in the WWE. In the UFC the smack talk is legit. These are all big boys that can handle it.
Rashad Evans has way less class than Lesnar in every fight and I don't hear half of the media/fan disgust about him in all his matches as I've heard from this one Lesnar fight.
I can't wait to see Evans get handled!!! I like the underdog and I like the silent killers. The Dan Handerson win was the best of the night for that fact alone. Bisping is another one who deserves more negative press than Lesnar for all of his smack talking and antics. But he got his...he got owned!
GSP is hurt though...I wonder how long this injury is going to keep him out for?
hmm... How can this brutal fights without any real protection be safer than boxing? :?
The rules have been made as this kind of entertainment was going for the masses ... as it started there have been NO rules.
So the longevity has been thought about as they planned to air it on TV not before.
But maybe boxing has started the same way .. I donīt know it exactly. :)
I canīt find any entertaining aspect on this kind of fighting and I doubt that it is really made for the masses ...
Just think about it: Would you let your child watch any ufc fight or a box fight? Over here in germany ufc is just for people over 18 years old ... because itīs that safe and harmless.:D
Donīt know what age is confirmed over in the states for it ... ;)
For boxign there arenīt those restrictions for age ... why that?
I donīt wanna upset anybody, these are just my 2 cent ... :b
i would have no problems letting a child watch a ufc fight.
the reason MMA is safer than boxing is once you are knocked loopy, the ref , most of the time stops the fight. in boxing, the boxer has time to recoup only to be knock loopy repeatedly. which can cause serious brain damage.
mmgraphics - I don't see any problems in your stance with Mixed Martial Arts, I can understand that some parents may not want their children to be exposed to it, so nothing is wrong in stating that.
But yes, the UFC did originally bill itself as no rules because of where it originally came from, Brazil. Rorion Gracie brought the concept to the states with the help of John Milius and Semaphore Entertainment. It was known as Vale Tudo (which means anything goes in Brazil) and then the concept flourished to what was known then as the most bloodiest sport.
Ofcourse with pressure from Senator McCain and others, rules were introduced to make it somewhat more Television friendly, because cable companies stopped carrying it for awhile.
But in comparison to Boxing, MMA is still a safer sport than Boxing. With Boxing, you are wearing padded gloves so you can hit harder, a finish in boxing is usually just a knockout, most people when they went to see a Mike Tyson fight weren't looking for his opponent to just quit, they wanted to see him get knocked out.
In MMA you have the other options besides a knockout such as submissions (chokes, armlocks, leglocks, etc.). The referees in MMA will stop a fight if they see that a person is not defending themself from strikes and sometimes from submissions, and ofcourse you have people that will just tap or verbally quit.
I'm an MMA coach here in South Texas and yes, you see your fair share of injuries and sadly, there have been some fatalities accounted for in MMA (one was here and I know of another in the Ukraine) but there have been more deaths in Boxing than there has been in MMA.
As for letting a kid see MMA fights or for that matter train in it, normally we tell parents if they want them to learn something to start with Jiu-Jitsu first and build a foundation there, as for spectating, that's up to the parent if they feel it won't have a negative vibe on the child.
But I know if I had a youngster in my house, I would probably not let them watch it either . . .
Take care Friends :)
All i can say is......UFC is awsome :D, it is the best sport on tv....when i can actually see it that is. I used to do alot of kickboxing and wish i had carried on instead of quitting when i did, the UFC has actually made me want to take it up again which is a good thing as i need to get fit as the belly aint gettin any smaller :lol
I also cant wait for the next season of Ultimate Fighter UK vs USA.....bring it on :lol
Steve
Like I said if before, if you were educated about it you would know that their are rules in UFC.
Some of the major ones implemented in the last couple of years are no kicking or kneeing to the head while the opponent has his knee on the ground. Also No punching elbowing or kneeing to the back/top area of an opponents head ever.
Lastly boxing is way more dangerous than MMA due to the fact that boxing is strictly box blows to the body or head for 10 rounds of continuous damage, typically to the head. Since the boxers wear such thick gloves its much much harder tp knock some one out, so instead of a fight going 1, 2 or 3 rounds like typical MMA fights, boxers endure a massive amount of head trauma during a fight than a MMA fighter.....Not to mention, how many people have died from boxing???? TONS!!! how many have ever died or had seriously damaging injuries in the history of professional UFC fight, ZERO.
Nuff said
I just donīt like it.
From my understanding, European values are different from the US. This is strictly an observation so don't jump all over me if I'm off base. In the US we rate nudity as being worse than violence, in Europe it's the other way around violence is worse than nudity. At least as far as TV/movie ratings etc. are concerned.
Let's move to Europe then!!! I rather see some nude chick than UFC...but I do like UFC a lot! :lol
*LOL*
Isnīt it weird to rate nudity but to have the biggest porn industry worldwide?
Some kind of double moral to me ... :?
:D
I didn't say it made sense LOL
:D:D:D
You won't find many athletes outside the UFC who are as committed to their sport as those in the UFC. GSP and Rich Franklin come to mind as some of the most committed people I've ever seen or known about.
