Am I alone here? I just finished playing the Tom Clancy HAWX flight sim on XBOX 360 and have a question.

How is it possble for a company to make a flight sim game where you don't take off or land, not once? Would anyone stand for a racing game where there was no start or finish, you just spawned mid race?

The game was ok, nice graphics, plenty of planes, decent missions, but is taxing down a runway, taking of, landing, mid-air refueling, and trying to hit the deck of an aircraft carrier not some of the most fun during a flight sim? It is for me!

Ever since I transiton from PC to XBOX gaming I have longed for class act flight sim, some have come close, but these exclusions in HAWX are ridiculous. These are some of the most basic, integral elements of a flight sim and not a one!

And can't someone make a decent chopper sim? I'm about ready to bust out the Tandy 1000 and play Apache Gunship.

What gives?

Yeah you are not the only one who's waiting for a decent flight-sim to come out man...same story here buddy.

Game makers seem to have totally lost the old skool flying.

I guess we'll just have to wait.

There is a game for XBOX360 that came out last year called Ace Combat, it came with the flight stick and throttle. I never played it, but a friend said it was pretty cool. I think it was $150 for the game and controls, but it was always sold out. I remember this old school Chuck Yeager flight simulator we had on the computer back in the early 90s, that was fun!

I was just talking about Gunship with someone at work the other day. Funny you should bring that up.

In defense of HAWX, I don't think it was really intended to be a flight sim. It's more of an arcade flight shooter. If it's considered a sim, my biggest complaint wouldn't be about take off and landing. It would be that the planes somehow manage to carry 200 missiles at once.

Yeah, I see your point. But man, even Top Gun for the original Nintendo had a mid air refuel mission and aricraft carrier landing!

If the game did not center around flying, and say flying was just one or two parts of the game, like the "Death from Above" mission in COD4, I could buy into that. But I just can't forgive them. HAWX is every bit the game that Ace Combat was, and even they managed to incorporate landings, take offs, etc.

I guess we'll just have to wait.
