Grandma passed away today

Had a call from my dad this morning letting me know that my last grandparent, Fay Duchin, passed away this morning at 7:15. :(
She was 92 years and 9 months old. Her condition had been in a slow decline for the past several years, and she had pretty much been confined to bed for the past year or so, so it wasn't like this was out of the blue or anything. It's still tough news to get, though.
She was a loving, wonderful grandmother with a quick wit and great sense of humor, even at her age.
I had spoken to her on the phone a few times over the past several years, but the last time I got to see her was in 2004 just shortly after I returned from Germany. She was 87 at that time, and still living in NYC. We went out for an early dinner at one of her favorite diners in the Bronx along with my Uncle and Great Aunt (her sister).
I spoke to my dad a couple of times today, and he explained that as she had requested in her will, there will be no funeral or memorial service. She preferred that everyone remember her in life rather than mourn her death. She will be cremated and her ashes spread in the cemetary where her husband, Richard, is buried in NY.
I'll miss you, Grandma.

Sorry brother. I went through it three weeks ago. Grandma was my best friend growing up. While it was a blessing she passed, it still stings a little. Remember the good times and how she influenced you in life. Take care of yourself and those close to you. Jason

I am very sorry to hear this. I know how it feels as my grandfather passed away 4 years ago. He had lung cancer and just went 75. Be proud that she had a full life, 92 is a great age! My condolences SJ. She will guide you from above now.

We're saddened by her loss, but I'm truly blessed that all my memories of her are happy ones, and I'll carry those with me for the rest of my life.
