if you want to get into custom mando armor i'd suggest you save yourself some money and make up a suit of trash can armor. print out wizardofflight's templates then head down to walmart and get a couple 5 dollar sterilite oval 13 gallon cans. cut it out yourself and make any modifications you wish along the way.

I believe he is a re-caster. I bought some from him, off ebay before I found TDH. I felt I was ripped off as I bidded high only to see it listed with a buy it now a week later for half the price! The quality is ok, but the size is pretty small compared to my Fettpride V3 and he does not do a back plate. I do regret buying it due to the re-casting issue. I did not want to use it for my Boba in the end, hence the V3 so it is painted up as a custom.

I would recommend looking around TDH, there maybe some Fettpride v2 stuff from some one who just upgraded which would be much better, but if you really feel compelled to go with this guy then don't bid too much, he has it listed all the time anyway.

if you're short on extra time your costume is never going to get done and you'll end up quitting out of dissapointment with a lot of money sunk into the project. even if you buy armor off ebay, you're still going to need to trim, sand, prime, paint, re-paint, weather, etc. and that's just the armor. then there's your helmet, suit, gauntlets, and other accessories. i'm not trying to discourage you from your dream of mando goodness, i'm just trying to be realistic. cutting your own armor from a can takes a few hours, an evening at the most; by the time your costume is finished four or five extra hours is not all that much time spent. making a mando is a serious investment of time and money.

If you're short on time you can do exactly what you were just told and have fully trimmed, painted armor by the end of the day by making one trip to wal-mart. Save a lot of money too.

Please do not post ebay auction links that are not yours. You may post a photo from it.

The person who is doing the auction is a know recster and you will have nothing but problems with him.

Dude... you and everyone else is short on time! I waited 10yrs before i started on my ESB Fett, I work 2 jobs FULL TIME!
just got married last summer, bought a Condo just yesterday.

And if i learned anything while being on this board, i learned that if you can save $$ by doing it yourself...do it!
You can use that extra $$ on something else and feel good about making it from scratch, in the end no one cares if its hand laid fiber-glass by the monks of Timbuktu. cause in the end your painting it!

A lot of noobs need to slow down and understand this isn't a quick and easy costume to make!

jash1 read this post...

and read my sig

We're not trying to be jerks, I've seen too many guys come here, this past year thinking, painted plastic... how hard can it be, then they fade away. because it takes a lot of time and $$ and they don't heed advice, then end up selling an unfinished costume.

Don't get me wrong there have been a few guys that have done a suit in a months time.. but to do that you need major $$ and time.

Champagne dreams on a Beer budget just wont cut it...imo:cheers

good luck on the auction.

Pull your bid... try at least... its not worth owning recast armour... shoddy stuff at that.... ive been stug large and the work needed is astronomically painful... took me 6 months to even work my way up to trying to repair my stuff... in the end it turned out ok, but cost way more than what it would have to buy a full set of BM armour outright, and that stuff is ready to paint and perfectly accurate mind you...

try pull out of the auction if you can... its in your best interests... :D

The quality is not that bad to be fair, at least the stuff that came out to me was not, but that said, I feel bad about owning it, this is some one else's hard work and the guy is just profiteering. I do not want to use it for my Boba and don't want to sell it on. I could have saved my self loads of time and money buy buying from members here, where the screen accuracy and quality is so much better.

BTW welcome to TDH, I would advise having a good look around the board before deciding what or where to buy from. I no longer buy any finished items or kits from ebay when you can get better quality here.

if the guy in question is recasting is there a policy at ebay that he would be in violation of ? i think you should be able to get his stuff taken off

I think e bays policy is geared more towards copyright infringement. My understanding is there is a grey area between copyright infringement and fan-made. Recasting is more about honor than copyright infringement. The recaster took the easy route and just replicated the work and when you do that they do not look as sharp as the original. remember the movie Multiplicity? "she touched my pepe Steve." :) but that being said the original caster never put a patent on it.
I always thought that fan made (weather it was movies, props etc.) was fine unless you profited from it. (both original and recasting) which then became copyright infringement. unless you had the consent of the patent holder, which would be Lucasfilm Ltd.

"irony can be pretty ironic sometimes"
