smoking that is. i've been a pack a day smoker since i was 18, that was 15 years ago and i think it's finally time to stop doing that. i started on friday, and i'm doing pretty well, though i have noticed i've been a bit more scatterbrained than usual, especially when i'm doing the things that would trigger my urge to smoke. although i've stopped buying smokes, i haven't quit cold turkey, but i've only had about three a day since i decided to stop. now i've tried quitting before, but i only had myself for support. this time might be the time that works because my girlfriend is encouraging me and i'm bringing it to you guys. with all the encouragement from you guys i was able to complete not one, but two fetts; something i don't think i would have finished otherwise. now i'm asking for support and encouragement to help me with this new project. so can i count on you guys for that?

I know you can do it. You just have to make it so you won't be tempted. Try to stay busy doing other things that don't trigger the smoking urge. Keep up the fight.

my biggest smoking trigger is getting in a car. smoking while driving has always been my thing.

Its a good thing you are going to stop smoking :). Now your Boba Fett Costume or Jango Costume won't smell like smoke...lol. I hope you keep it up.

Just go for it, bruh. I went cold-turkey in 2007, and never looked back. You smell better, have more money, and are healthier. The #1 thing to do, for most people that can't handle the cold turkey route, is to write a SET IN STONE schedule of what you're going to do. (IE, 2 cigs a day in 1 week, 1 cig a day 1 week after that, and no cigarettes at all after 3 weeks or something.) And don't deviate from the plan, or you'll just draw the process out until it gets frustrating and unbearable.

You can do it bud. I feel the biggest thing is finding something else to do at your week points. For you driving in the car. That is when you chew gum or chew on some beef jerky or something. If you can get past your week points you can do it. :)

Good luck bro :) I was at 2.5 packs a day . 30 years I've been smoking next month. Someone started a thread a month ago that got me trying to quit. No cold turkey for me. I cut back to one a hour. So I'm now less than a pack a day. Guess its time to go to one every two hours. Hardest thing I've ever tryed to kIck.

The day I decided to quit, I wrote a list of the pro's and con's of being a smoker and non smoker. You will see quickly that being a non-smoker is far more beneficial to you across the board, and you have something in writing to remind you of why you are doing it.

I then starting excercising every time I wanted one. Kind of killed two birds with one stone. If I was at work, and started craving, I would walk around the block a few times, or hit the stairs. If I was at home, I would jump on the elliptical, or throw in my P90X workout for the day if I had not done it yet.

Driving was tough for me too. I started carrying an empty Bic pen with me, and I would roll down my window, flick it like I would a cig, etc. It did help some. I also started listening to audio books while driving, so that I didnt think about it as much.

So far, so good, and it has been since April 9th. I am now to a point where I can be around it, and I am ok.

You can do it, man! Just stay focused, and you will never look back.

Yes man let it smoke!!!!!!! you life will be better!!!!!!!!!!!!!my mother recently left that thing and is hard because she had 30 years doing that, but for you life just do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck and be strong!!!!!!!!!!!

I smoked for 16 years.
Luckily I had the help of my girlfriend to see me through it. She also quit at the same time so we were there to support each other.
Exercise and creativity were my biggest influences to help me stay strong. Infact, quitting was what lead me to completing my Boba costume! I had all that extra cash laying around with nowhere to spend it. :)
I know it sounds like a long ways down the road, but once you make it to the 6 month point you'll start to wonder why you ever carried this habit around with you in the first place.

Best of luck and best wishes.
We're here for you!!

Good luck you want to do it and that's a big step in the right direction. Just think as it's been said a few times about the extra cash for Fett stuff.

If you saw the set of smokers lungs that i had to blow up w an air pump in my undergraduate physiology course you would have no problem!!! Lets go nasty, suck it up and get er' done man!

Another quitter! :) I started that other thread a while back. I started my quitting quest on March 19th.
I've had some backslides, but I've cut back to less than half what I was smoking previously. My goal is to
quit completely of course. It's been hard, but I'm going to persevere!

My wife and I have been using e-cigs for about 3 years now. Basically, you get the nicotine and 'smoking' sensation, but none of the carcinogens. If you can't manage to quit, look into the 'Joy-e 510 ego' or the 'Puresmoker Legacy' as an alternative. It's cheaper and much less of a health risk than traditional cigarettes.

Same here... Went cold after they stopped selling smokes at my work. Thought that I would need to go to a gas station to pick some up, and that would have effectively doubled the price of the pack. decided not to, and never regretted that ever since... The first night was hell, I'll say that, but from there it was easier, night by night. Yes, I work at nights...

And, as for the money... The other smokers tend to be sure they have enough, and buy big packs, or two packs for one shift. They all tend to smoke all they have...

I have actually thought how much I have saved, and spent on my Boba Fett costume, and for me, it is a fair trade... And, I love the new taste of food and the smell of air...

But, mind you, at some times, I do LOVE a good cigar... Cigarette is not even close. And yes, I do have one, in reserve, for when I get my Fett finished... It is close, but not yet...

Good luck, you can do it. Trust yourself.
