Go Pittsburgh Penguins! Stanley Cup is yours!

This is great news! My workmate has been banging on about how Detroit is gonna win, nobody ever comes back from that big of a deficit, blah blah blah...

I can't wait til he comes back to work tomorrow. HOOT!

Detroit did not have #13 in the line up. He played the last 3 games on a broken foot. He is the top contender to win the regular season MVP. You think if he was at even 80% or better yet near 100% the pens would have won?? Ya it is just one player, but then ask your self. Where would the Pens have been with out Malkin? Think they still would have won?? I think not.

Ya Pitt won. But they took it to 7 games with a injured detroit team who was missing there number 3 and 4 deffenceman, had 4 players that were in the minor leagues up untill 2 weeks ago. If detroit was healthy or had all the parts the series would have been Detroit in 5.

What's your point??? A hockey team is not a 1 man army lol... Malkin, Crosby, Gonchar, Fleury, Staal, Fedotenko, Crosby etc... the whole team works well together... it obviously shows because we have the cup, and detroit does not... Put your crystal ball away dude, it is what it is... you can't assume that Malkin carried the entire team all 7 games... Yeah he won MVP becuase he did VERY well. Crosby got hurt that last game and Pittsburgh still came out with the win... so just because you loose one or two players doesn't justify anything... It's the team that counts and this year... Pittsburgh came out on top. They played their hearts out till the last game... both teams were phenomenal and I truly hope its those two again next year in the finals.

Where would the pens have been without Malkin... lol... what is that even supposed to justify? You gonna call the team the Pittsburgh Malkins?

Just saw you were from Michigan, makes more sense now HA!

You should have seen my reaction post-game. It wasn't pretty, as I'm a huge Red Wings fan. But now that I've calmed down, congratulations on your team's Stanley Cup win. At least Malkin got MVP.

p.s. Pittsburgh knocked out my two favorite teams; First the Flyers, now the Wings! Ugh!

Thanks bro, both the flyers and wings are fantastic teams. Never forget game 5 bro... I have no idea what that was but you guys stomped us hahaha....

Yah know, I wasn't going to pull this one out, but I'm afraid I have to.

It was obvious the Penguins are whiners, showed in game 5 when you got spanked 5-0. It was because they get upset and get worked up and start causing penalties against themselves.

So in game 7, they had 3 penalties. A hook, holding and tripping. How bout the numerous cross checks and not to mention the biggest one that went uncalled, when in the 2nd period after Fleury covered the puck and the whistle was blown, a penguins player leveled Datsyuk. COMPLETELY AFTER PLAY! and they got away with it. The Ref was standing right there watching...

So I guess with the addition of penalties being called right, and having some of our better skaters/shooters off the ice due to injury, maybe it could have gone another way.

I will give it to Fleury, he came back from a schulacking* in game 5 and turned it on. But for Osgood, he just didnt have the defense like he should have. It was a different defensive squad out there, and it wasn't as tight-knit as it had been. Osgood did 80% of the work for the Wings...

yeah...im done I guess....congrats to the Penguins none the less...its always sweeter having Stanley the 2nd time...

but not as it will be for number 12 next year

Pitt had better goaltender in the only game that mattered, game 7. Without Fluery in that game, Detroit would be raising the cup.

Right, you and the other 2 million people who think they are refs... the game was called fair... "obvious the Penguins are whiners", yet you are the one whining... both teams played well... in the end, the Pens played better... simple as that, no excuses lol. Why do people try and justify why they lost instead of what they should have done to win? The series was very close, went to game 7. Both teams are fantastic. This thread was meant to celebrate the Penguins victory in an amazing series. Not to whine about all the reason why the RedWings should have won, or why you still think they are better... point is... Pittsburgh has the cup :cheers Cheers bro

Tim... lol...I don't even know what to say to that... hahaha. Of course if we didn't have our freakin goalie we would be struggling a little. Take away Osgood and what does detroit have? lol... If you want to go by Gilmore's theory, Osgood did 80% of the work for the Wings... (which I disagree) so take away Detroits goaltender and i think your even worse off than we would be... haha. Fleury IS on the penguins so you can't try and justify by saying "what if" this or "well if you didnt have any of these awesome players that made your team stand where it is today you wouldn't win". That statement was pointless... haha.

Agree and degree, as hockey player and a goalie myself I can tell you Detroit would have done just as well with Conklin in the net if Osgood wasn't there. They are a very well balanced offensive and defensive team, (minus their goaltending). Pitt on the other hand has to rely a lot more on the goaltending IMO, as their D isn't as strong as Detroit was.

Thats how the saying goes "Defense wins championship". Where in hockey, goalies can be your defense if the rest of the team doesn't show up.

IE: Dominek Hasek in the late 90's

I agree 100% Defense wins championship. Which would be a large factor as to why we won. Still doesn't change the fact that it matters if we didn't have Fleury we may have lost... fact is, we have him. Our team has good players, it would go for anyone if you loose a good player you would have a harder time winning.

BTW, I used to be a goalie too! Easily one of the most enjoyable things I did when I grew up. You still play?

Yes, the pens played well. And Detroit's defense looked terrible the last two games. The pens were the better team. (and it hurts to say that, cause I love the Wings)

But that doesn't stop me from hating "crybaby" Crosby. He whines about everything. He was voted the biggest complainer by the rest of NHL players. (52% of players chose Crosby as the biggest complainer) He snubbed the Wings after Game 7. Wings players had to wait for him to come over and shake hands. He is the captain of the team, he should have been first in line to shake hands. A captain should be more professional.

Did the Pens out play the Wings? Yes. But Crosby does not repect the game of hockey, and in my humble opinion he does not deserve the cup.

I had to chime in here, as a student( played high school, college and mens leagues) and fan of the game. I live in PA and I'm a flyers fan overall, but a hockey fan more than anything. I have not seen a bigger, whiner, complainer, and cry baby since Mario Lemieux. Although a fantastic offensive player, Crosby yaps and cries as much as he shoots and passes. He wants every call, shiy's away from contact, hides behind team mates and may be the biggest puss on the ice. I change the channel when he's one the ice. It would be nice to see him skate in his defensive zone every now and then, but that's the way his mentor ,Mario, played the game as well. For my money, give me Malkin over Crosby. For more money, give me Ovechkin over Malkin.... Just my 2 cents.

Have had 3 knee surgeries from blowing out my knee playing goalie. Have since retired from competitive goaltending and now play forward in a couple beer leagues

Who cares if he "whines"... he's a hell of a hockey player and the youngest to take a team to the cup. He's one hell of a hockey player and has much time to grow even better. Alltho I can possibly agree that I think Malkin is a better player and would much rather see him as the captain.

@ Tim. Man, that's rough :( If we lived closer id say we could shoot on eachother :)

Become a member of the "goalie forums.com" you'll find a lot of places that can do custom goalie equipment and a lot of knowledgeable people on there.

I just sold all my Bauer Supreme pads and equipment on their a while back, so you can also find great deals on used and pro return pads the NHLers didn't use or like.

That is EXACTLY what I am doing :) hehe.
