Genuine Webley & Scott N°1 Mk"1" - n°19153 is now mine!

Hi TDH,

I'm making this thread just because i wanted to share this with you guys as it's feels almost unreal to me!

For the little story, despite i was convinced it would never happen, i kept checking some gun auction websites now and then using the very wide key word "Webley". I found several Webleys N°4 Mk"1", one N°3 Mk"1" which i almost bought, one genuine Webley & Scott stock with the D-bracket, but never i saw even the shadow of a N°1 Mk"1". Honestly, at one point i gave up, especially after having finished to assemble my Sidewinder kit.

But few days ago, i was scouring the internet looking for some specific materials for another project and at one point i thought "it's been a while since i checked for the Webley, why not giving it a quick go while i'm in search mode". So i went to the gun auction website where i had the best results and launched the search, and right here, on the first page of results, it was there waiting for me! The gun had been here for few days already and a couple of people had already inquired about it. When i saw that i jumped right in, contacted the seller right away making him an offer and few hours later i received that wonderful email: "Congrats, you've bought -Webley & Scott flaregun-"!
Of course i did my best to stay cool telling myself that until it wasn't between my hands everything could happen. But now, it's there and there's no doubts about it, it's mine :).

The good thing with the french laws in terms of owning a weapon is that the Webley falls in the lowest category of lethality, and thus it's legal for anyone over 18 to own it, even not neutralized, without having to possess any specific gun license at all.

And of course, here are few pics:

Nice find. I would love a real one but I don't want to spend the kind of money I would need to get one.

Absolutely amazing! Congratulations!! That is an incredible piece. Having had a Webley before finding myself in the position of needing to let it go, I completely share your excitement in attaining this one.

I'm curious now. Send me a pm with how much you paid for it if you can.

Congrats on the find! Just FYI, the screw that the barrel pivots on is in backwards. The screw part should be on the left side of the receiver. You need to take it out, flip it around, and make sure the female piece gets seated right on the "key" (key slot should be on top). Last thing you want is to lose or damage irreplaceable parts on that 100 year old beauty. Again, Congrats on the Webley! Very glad your laws didn't require a deactivation.

Thanks again everyone! I'm still completely stoked by this one. Well... as the wooden stock is missing it might not be the best choice of word from me :p.

Thanks for your input, you're 100% right!
