I just finished building this fiber optic star ceiling in my daughter's bedroom. Since I did all the work myself the entire project was under $500. The Sun is a florescent lamp I painted the edges of. It is on a separate switch from the stars and blue halo around the edges(both of which are on separate switches as well to allow you more control over what is turned on or off). I realize that you can't see the fiber stars twinkling or the blue halo much in the pic. In the dark it looks much better. The ceiling space is about 8 ft x 8 ft. I'm about 90% satisfied with the project but it was fun to do for her. Thought I'd share the results.
