Funniest armour mistakes...
What is the most hilarious mistake or accident you've had while working on your armour?
Mine happened today, I was welding Demagol's grieves for his custom and had my leg to close to the head of the welder...I caught my leg and boot on fire (:wacko) and dashed around yelling until I made it to the pool, where I plunged my leg in and escaped nigh unscathed...:D
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Funny....terrifiying...same thing. :lol
Putting the range finder stalk on backwards, then putting the rangefinder upside down on top of that. I also, put the Decipher Kast shoulder symbol upside down. :lol
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
haha yea dont know about the funny part. For me it was almost apoxy..ing my finger to a snap on some fiberglass......
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Most of my mistakes haven't been very funny, at least not to me, but my reactions to them would probably be pretty funny to an outsider watching me curse and throw things and scream at the air.

Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
While this may not be as funny as some of the more exciting mishaps, I don't think I was supposed to cut off the lower heel part off of this clone armor...
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
*goes to find the pic. of the one TK that glued the top part of the bucket on backwards...Giving him this "suprised expression".* :lol
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Being new, I can't wait for some funny mistakes to post. I am sure I will have a bundle!
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Edit - Oops, sorry. Had written a funny story about wearing a suit, not working on it
deleted...
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
I was using e-poxy to put the little screen on the back of my Jango OS Helmet, and while I was holding it waiting for it to set, it crept down and attached to my finger.
Naturally I was watching TV and not paying attention to anything except how long I needed to hold it before it set up. I was very disappointed in myself when I went to let go of the screen only to find myself attached to the inside of my helmet.
Long story short, there will always be a little bit of me inside my helmet. :lol
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
hmmm, not really funny, but luckily I had some super strength Loctite Super Glue Gel...
I was attaching the snaps of my Jango chest armor to my vest so I put some rub-n-buff on the snaps glued to the armor to mark the vest... then I pushed down to mark where they needed to be, needless to say the armor was curved pretty good and when I pushed, snap went the armor... it was like 4AM the night before a troop so I was saying some choice words before I thought, hmmm, lets just glue it back.
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Although it's not armor........I was watching LOST and trying to sew up my new tusken raider robes, I accidently sewn the sleeves shut. At least I didn't sew a finger. :D
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Spilling my last bottle of "Special Mix" Zam leather dye for my Zam skirt all over the garage floor. Yes... I still have a purple garage floor. :D
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
CA gluing my fingers together with accelerator. The worst one was having a screw go threw my foot, and getting rush to ER. thats the last time i left tools lying around.

Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
I placed my Jango armor on some cardboard and spray can primered them. It was in my basement and I didn't want to fume myself out so I opened a window. The wind swirled up dust bunnies, dirt and debris which promptly stuck to all the wet primer.
I didn't notice right away and when I came back I had rough, dirty, armor. Had to re sand and re primer them. I was not happy to say the least and the string of 4 letter words I put together served as proof of that. Afterwards I laughed at myself at how mad I got. Lessons learned.
:cheers
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
It would be either:
1.) Super gluing my fingers together.
2.) Tacking Sintra together with superglue, then "welding" (it looks like it when you do it right) the pieces together with hot glue over it. Problem is, the heat vaporizes the super glue, and sends caustic fumes right up into your eyes.
3.) (Not entirely armor related) Getting hit in the lip with a molten bead of solder. Not pleasant at all, as you can probably imagine.
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
When putting together my TK armor I accidentily hot glued my hand. Ouch!
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Using plaster of paris to fill in/support my scratchbuild helmet...
It took 3 weeks for the cardboard bits to dry and it is not going anywhere without a forklift! :)
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
i scratchbuilt the jet pack and had the wrong curves and angles on things first, after looking at it i realized i did it completely wrong and started over.

Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
I'm new and haven't gotten very far but so far its just been a few simple mistakes such as getting really into it and nearly cutting my self or repeated pin pricks, not to mention a few hits to the thumb while working the metal.
Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
I went more than 200 km to a professional Photographer to make a session of pictures of my RC Costume.
After I received the pics I realised, the Comlink of the Helmet broke down until I put on the Suit.
Now every pic shows the RC without the Comlink :cry:cry:cry

Re: Funniest armour mistakes...
Absolutely wasn't paying attention and I grabbed the business end of ready-to-go soldering iron. Took me about a nanosecond to realize what I'd done. Only got a small blister out of the deal but I cursed loud enough to wake up the dogs.
