Flying with your Fett?

Ok, so I'll get right to it. Now that I'm all ready to troop, there are a few events that the Badlands Garrison is doing in the next province over which is like an hour flight, not to mention the ever looming Celebration in Florida which is a 5 hour flight or so. Generally this isn't a problem except for two things...I hate flying regardless of how short or long and I worry about flying with my Fett. I've heard stories of booster rockets on the pack imploding due to the pressure, or of having the costume in baggage just getting kicked around enough that no matter how much you pad and protect, it just suffers some damage, so I'd like to see what everyone's thoughts / comments / experiences are with flying with their suits. I asked this on the Garrison boards too, but posting here and asking I figured is a must. This way I can stop being so paranoid and maybe get some good ideas on how best to travel with this badboy.

I've taken my gear many times on the plane with me as checked luggage. I use a large rubbermade tote with wheels on the back, it's actually not a bad investment for $30. However, TSA loves to dump my gear out and shuffle through it almost every time I fly with it (thank god it's metal). As far as packing your gear for flight, bubble-wrap is your friend! Also, use your soft parts to create a cushion around your armor. Take your helmet on-board the plane with you as a carry on item. If you buy one of those soft cloth motorcycle helmet bags for your helmet, that will keep it generally protected from getting scratched up.

To help with security checking your items, it is a good idea to enclose a full-sized picture of you in your armor inside the armor bin. Also, something else I do is enclose a piece of paper with "Non-Functional Movie/Costume Props. Handle with Care" printed out in large lettering. I also tape a copy of that to the top of the bin's lid so they already know what's inside before they open it.

I would say as a helmet bag there are flight helmet bags for carrying our helmets for flying...Im waiting on my fett helmet right now Ill let you know if it fits well enough or not but there are two sizes to them i have a smaller bag for my flight helmet...Google military helmet bag theres tactical ones with alot of padding made by blackhawk might be a really good option

defiantly label the blasters, I always have trouble with my flintlocks and swords when I'm off doing the pyrate thing...
and make sure you take duct tape, duct tape, and duct tape....

What do you mean by label the blasters? Your allowed to check swords BTW, knives and other weapons that aren't firearms. TSA says so.

Thanks for all the input guys!!
I'm going to have to really look into this, check around for proper helm carriers and the like. And I had a brain-fart....my stuff was shipped from the UK by Daz to me here in Canada, so OBVIOUSLY the pressure of flying was fine for it in the first place....DUH!

But I'm still paranoid about taking it and having those mooks going through it all carelessly....
Mafio...man I WISH I could go that route...not only would flying myself with a pack be alot more fun, but cheaper and probably SAFER all the way around - items and myself. LOL

I love my Fett....I'd have a heart attack if something happened to it especially in transit to troop or back!
