The Fit is Go!

After over a year of searching, researching, and scrounging the internet, dealer lots, and zines I finally have my new 2008 Honda Fit.

I, of course, had desired the rarest trim line/color/transmission.

A Blackberry Pearl 5 speed manual Sport Edition.

The setup has an average lot life of 2 days. This made this a pain to track down. I saw one on a lot in Waukesha in December, however it was Sunday. I stopped in Tuesday after work, the car was sold on Monday.

I hadn't seen one again until January 25th, on a Friday. I went inside and asked someone when they got it in. It was four days old off the truck, but Friday was the first day it made it to the lot. I wanted to get an offer from the other dealers I visited before I committed to buying the car.

When I stopped back Monday to talk to someone, the car had been sold earlier that day. I was hours too late. My future salesman, actually found the keys and was going to pull it around before discovering that it had been sold.

Long story short, I finally broke down and reserved the first one coming in after agreeing on a generously discounted price (why pay sticker?).
HOWEVER, the original one I had looked at (the one that had been "sold") was never picked up, so weeks later on Saturday the 9th I get a call from Honda saying I had first dibs since I had put my name on the first one coming in. I went over the offer again and got myself a pretty nice deal. It had 7 miles on it. Apparently, from being gassed up and moved around the lot so many times, as the dealer tripped to get rid of all this disgusting SNOW!

I took delivery today and now she's warming up in the garage.
I think I'm naming her "Valentine" ;)

:cheers Now here's some terrible pictures!

If you are the beefcake in your signature with the helmet on, I have to ask -

Can you fit in that car ? ;)

JK -

Those are great cars. the wife and I have been toying with getting one for the daily driver with gas prices the way they are. I think I'd have to go with the auto. A little concerned about the interior room. I haven't seen one on a lot yet myself. I'm 6 '2, would I fit in it ???? I know they boast being very roomy inside.

Yes, I'm the ripped skin and bones in my signature pic lol.

I'm 6' 5". I fit in this car fantastically.
I have tons of head room, plenty of leg room...i don't even slide the seat all the way back.

The visibility is great, I have little to no blindspot.

The only thing I recommend is taking off the back seat head rests, they WILL hinder view, and are sort of silly anyways.

As far as interior room, very comfy, very roomy, and more room than the civic. It actually has a higher riding height. You actually sit down in the seats, not fall down into like most smaller cars.

If you need me to test anything out for you just let me know lol, I already know all three of my bikes can fit in it, tried that RIGHT AWAY.

Ok, wow ! I had no idea. The first thing that came to mind was how much room there is in a modern beetle, those are pretty deceiving.

I know what the MSRP's are on those things, so, how much of a deal were you able to get on yours ?? Just nosey is all. I know that's going to vary from lot to lot, and how well you deal. But just a ball park? PM me with it if you're comfortable with that? If not, I understand completely.

I see the snow you spoke of in the pics. Too bad you couldn't have drove it off and kept in clean for a couple of days huh? How does it handle in the snow? Big consideration for us. Granted, a FWD is a FWD, but your impression?

Thanks bro,

FP

I love it ... great gas mileage, lots of space, and ... it's a Honda: great engine life! I bought mine brand new in April '07, and it now has over 32,000 miles on it!!!!

Congrats on the new ride! It's always a great feeling getting a (game show voice) brand new car!!
I actually got my car on Valentine's Day 2001. It had 4 miles on it when I picked it up. Now it has about 62000.

I have to be honest...I'm too lazy to goggle it....I've never heard of this car before

It is a hybrid???

It's not a Hybrid, but it can get darn near the same gas mileage as a Hybrid. I think the most I've ever gotten out of mine was 43 mpg ... but that was under pristine conditions (high elevation; high temperature.)

The most you've ever gotten? ONLY 43 huh?

Well, the MOST i've ever gotten, was 14 !!!

'07 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab hemi

THAT is why we're considering this car !!! My wife currently has a Jeep Liberty. I think we'll trade that one in ;) It doesn't get the best mileage either :facepalm

In my day, we used to drool over cars like Mustangs, Challengers and Camaros. I ask you, are we now lauding gas milage over horsepower? Are we not men?

My my my...what's this world coming to...8)

Uh huh ... yup ... exactly !!!! Dodge hemi to a Honda Fit? Sure, the ego takes a little bit of a hit

We grow up, and start to see the light. Right? Help me out here?

In all seriousness tho, the plain and simple truth is ... before too long when gas prices prices are 5 bucks
a gallon or more, it will be the Honda "Fits", that will be continuing to function in our society ... my truck?
SCRAP. Or, garaged as a collectors item

I can say though, the good news is ... at least we're not talking about MINI VANS !!!

Ok Guys, it seams as though there's some "Heavy Shrinkage" going on in this thread, so just to restore the testosterone to its proper levels, I thought I'd post a picture of the new Plum Crazy Purple SRT8 Dodge Charger I recently purchased (100 of 300). (y) 425HP / 0-60 5.0 seconds stock. I've got a Supercharger and Stage III Jet Chip ordered, should add another 150HP or more! OH YEAH, let the tires melt and the GASSSOLINE fill the air! Tim Allen would be proud, HARR, HARR, HARR!!!

Hansoloway,

Have you been to the Chicago Auto Show yet? The New Dodge Challenger is "AWESOME", HEMI Orange Pearl all the way, got to wait till next for that to come out with the 6 speed manual transmission!;)

:cheers

It's fantastic in the snow, well the manual is. Such a relief to be able to downshift again and not be slamming on brakes here and there.

I did go over a patch of ice today through a neighborhood and could feel the wheels spin, but had no problem maintaining control. But that can be expected. Ice is ice.

Regular snow though, no problems.

Oh, I know! ;)

I figured I'd just go ahead and get myself a purple suit, some bright green hair and white make-up, then go around laughing violently while squeeling the tires!

It's Allll, Part of The Plaaannn!!!
