FETTPRIDE : ANNOUNCEMENT - BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

Hi Everyone ! I have some exciting news and a couple of surprises to share.
It's been about 2 months coming, but I've finally reached a point that I can
get it all out A lot of you already know, and have known for 6 weeks.

But you have to read the whole thing to see what's up I know I'm long
    winded, but bear with me

Recently, I launched a MAJOR overhaul to my website. For many years
it stagnated. Neglected. And quite honestly, it looked like something
from the early 90's It's been on my "to do" list but I just never found
the time. I decided some time ago that change was in order. After a
number of failed attempts at farming out the work to other members,
I bit the bullet and got the ball rolling. And while not all of the content
is available just yet, it's live. The rest of the content is being added in
segments over the course of the next few weeks as time permits. At this
point it's mostly text copy thats's missing. So wherever there is "Greek",
you're not seeing things. They're simply formatting placeholder blocks
for what will be inserted at a later date. But there are quite a few very
important factors that motivated tall the change.

First and foremost, the more of our older membership that moves on,
there remain few that can carry on the community history. That proves
troublesome for someone like me, who has primarily relied on word of
mouth to share my work with the community, for obvious reasons. Here
in the States, most of you know that we're governed by a very different
set of rules to live by than some of our European vendors in regard to
copyright and intellectual property. But some of you may not understand
why you may hear a name like mine, and can't dig much up on me.

This is because traditionally, guys like me try to fly as far under the radar
as possible. We don't have an eCommerce website, no shopping cart, no
checkout. We simply cannot . It's not only disrespectful to the studios and
license holders, it's illegal. So we rely on a stray thread here or there.
Nothing to platform what we do. So eventually, people start to forget who
pioneered the community, and most especially what this forum was founded
on - and that is building a "Screen Accurate" replica.

My new website is intended to establish an informative record of my parts
and history with TheDentedHelmet.com, as well as a platform to show my
works. From now on, if a new member is curious about "Fettpride", they'll
only need to look in one place. No more scouring old forum threads. This
has been a very long time coming. In a manner of speaking, I'm coming
out of the closet. But don't expect anything more than that. I'm not
de-cloaking to the world. My service to TDH is still exclusive. There will
however, be some better ways to contact me very soon as well.

But none of this is the exciting part for YOU ;-)

What you MIGHT find exciting, is that this is the "Official" announcement
for more budget minded items that I will be presenting to TDH exclusively.
Since introducing the first quality screen accurate "Budget" helmet castings
last year, I've been asked time and time again if there were any other
"Budget" parts in mind for the future.

In commemoration of nearly 10 years with TDH and the roll out of the new
website I've decided a little celebration is in order. I see TDH making a
change for the better recently. With the cleansing that is well under way
(ROCK ON ART !) , it really is time to get back to basics. So I'm going to
do my part in helping us get back to our roots.

Over the last few years I've seen a decline in the interest in making screen
accurate replicas, and more of a focus on durability and cost alternatives.
I'm not the only one as it turns out. I've actually seen a stray thread here or
there in regards to the same concern.

What exactly is a cost effective alternative to what is actually screen accurate ?
Fiberglass ? Metal ? Wrong. Actually, there is no alternative to screen accuracy,
because screen accuracy is cheaper to begin with

Screen Accuracy 101 - Fett Armor is vacuum formed. Period. And it's cheaper
than any alternative, with the exception of trash can armor If you do a bit of
research, you will find that the least expensive armor ever offered to date, has
always been vacuum formed armor. And still is. My very own. The ONLY screen
accurate armor in detail, materials, and fabrication. Nearly 10 years in development.
Brought to you by the finest minds TDH has ever had to offer. This simply cannot be
forgotten The history will be covered on my site

Durability - Of course, durability is certainly a concern for those that troop in their
gear on a regular basis. But there is a misconception about ABS / Styrene durability.
In allmy years, I've received feedback from no more members than can be counted
on onehand with a break or rip. If you're worried about your cat, dog, or toddler
chewing onyour armor, or breaking your armor - c'mon guys You shouldn't
be leaving your gear lay on the floor after you've poured your heart and sole into
making it anyway And, paint doesn't just seemingly fall off styrene out of the
clear blue after a few troops Durability is truly a balance between
updated engineering in material grades, and common sense.

That being said, if "screen accurate" wasn't already the most affordable, I'm putting
my money where my mouth is (so to speak). I'll be spreading the screen accuracy
bug again VERY soon with "BUDGET" options for both Armor AND Gauntlets alike !!
That will be 3 first time ever screen accurate "budget" options for the community.

    Here's what's on the SHORT horizon …

    ----------------------------------------------
    1. Budget Armor : $225 + $15 shipping in the U.S. ($20 additional for over seas).
    ----------------------------------------------

As most of you know, I've barely changed my prices over the last 8
years, and have made every attempt to lock in the balance between
consistency in both quality and value while staying true to the original
screen used armor. You've always known what to expect. But I'm
changing how we roll here at TDH, again. Same quality, little sacrifice.

I generally use VERY thick material for my armor. Borderline too thick
for screen accuracy. But that was the balance I was referring to. Plastic
is a petroleum product, and isn't cheap. The thicker the material, the more
cost per sheet. And with petrol prices on the rise it's a commodity.

To make this budget offering possible, I'm going total screen accurate.
The plastic used will be a little thinner than what I offer for the standard
sets. But not so much so that it will sacrifice durability. Most of you know
I'm just a stickler for overkill normally. And as always, the parts that are
most susceptive to failure will be done in thicker material no matter what.
But it's just enough of an adjustment to offer the most screen accurate armor
at a very affordable price. As always, either version is available. I will
NOT be discontinuing the standard version. It will still be
    offered at regular prices.

    ---------------------------------------------------
    2. Budget Gauntlets : $155 shipped in the U.S. ($20 additional over seas)
    ---------------------------------------------------

Back in the day when I first came aboard TDH, I offered vacuum formed
gauntlets. Quite frankly, they were a pain in the arse. And, the fact is, they were
more expensive to make than fiberglass. I switched to fiberglass due to demand. But
we're trying to get back to our roots. And it is the only thing I've offered that colored
outside the lines with with fiberglass. So the budget version will be vacuum formed
with very like-kind accessories to the standard versions. As always, either version is
available. I'm NOT discontinuing my standard version. They will still be offered at
    regular prices.

Both versions of gauntlets have been "re-tooled" for 2010 and my 10th Anniversary
with TDH ! So check out the pics on the site. What you see will be offered in both
    formed and glass alike.

    ---------------------------------------------------
    3. DENTLESS Armor : $225 + $15 shipping in the U.S. ($20 additional for over seas).
    ---------------------------------------------------

The very first screen accurate "Dentless" Fett Armor. Wether you prefer to make the
dents yourself (which is actually the only true screen accurate representation) or just
want to make a different version of Fett such as a Supertrooper, or Custom Mando.
    Another first to the community.

** A special note to members that may have purchased armor in the recent few
    weeks **

I realize that this announcement may come a a bit of a shock. However, I have to
draw the line somewhere when I change gears. It was only very recently that I was
afforded the opportunity to offer such items to the community. I appreciate your
    understanding.

All of this will be in effect immediately. I've finally secured a new reliable source to
lock in these prices for accurate forming materials. The majority of production will
take place in a few short weeks … AFTER Celebration 5 (which I will in fact be
attending). But any new orders will be afforded these new options.

I realize I've been VERY hard to reach, and I've been very slow on orders as well. Not
my norm. But now perhaps it will all make sense. It's a daunting task when you're
just one man. I know most of you truly get that. And I thank you so much for all of
your patience. This is a very necessary change that needed to take place. In the end,
it helps and betters the community.

On a small side note, I hear that "FPARMOR" has been a little confusing over the
years, since I've always gone by "Fettpride". "FP" of course, stands for "FettPride".

However, from this point forth, you can make the correlation either way you like.

    Best Wishes,

Re: FETTPRIDE : ANNOUNCEMENT - BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

You guys are great, thank you

I updated the first big butt post to reflect different pricing. In YOUR favor.
When I posted this morning, it had been typed up nearly two months ago
and I never updated the pricing.

Just a note about armor pricing ..

Because of the size of the box needed to ship (that pesky backplate), the USPS
is starting to ding us REALLY bad for anything over 17 inches wide. So I have to charge additional for that. But the gauntlets and helmets as always are shipping included in the U.S.

    Best,

    Chris

The placeholder text is called "Lorem Ipsum" and is mock-Latin text used by typesetters. It's gibberish.

Nice site by the way. Looking forward to seeing the new product.

Hey buddy, this has been a long time coming for you, congrats on your hard work... site looks great... love the budget stuff.
I think allot of new comers don't realize how far this hobby has come, and to have someone like FETTPRIDE that can simply provide us with all his goodies, its a wonderful thing....I think Trash Can armor is a thing from the past.

    Congrats again Chris..

    Cheers!!

Awesome news Chris! Now as you offer budget armor etc. too, I can hear this voice inside my head: "Go and complete your PrePro Boba!"

I really need to think about this!

Thanks for all you did/do for us Chris! So many parts I ordered from you and there are more to come!

    Let me clarify;
Fettpride has been working on a website for me. This was just a little hint that my site will be up very soon.
Now, about this thread and Chris' site.
    Absolutely fantastic!
It's about time we got back to our roots. Things have become acceptable that just aren't up to par.
Chris' products don't just raise the bar, they establish what we should all strive for - accuracy.
Are they perfect? No, but they are as close as you can get (until Chris revises them again LOL)

I really have to hand it to chris for offering these "budget friendly" prices. For the quality he provides, he could easily have charged more for these-and they would still be worth every penny.

I recently sold my ROTJ Boba costume. It was comprised of the best parts I could find at the time - Bobamaker,MLC,& Marrow Son. All of which are awesome people and make really good parts.
    But...
My new suit (yeah, I'm already making a replacement) will be all Fettpride (except the pack, which he doesn't make... YET )
    Why?
Because I am an accuracy nut and firmly believe in buying the very best that you can afford the first time. Why waste money upgrading later?

If anyone is straddling the fence trying to decide which armor, gauntlets,or helmet to buy, look no further and just get them from Chris.

and no, he didn't pay me to post this LOL

"This message was brought to you by slave1pilot and associates, Chris endorses this message" jk.

I have to agree, Chris is probably one of the most crucial VIP's in the Boba Fett costume community. It absolutely boggles my mind how someone was able to get a 99.9% accurate molding they did FROM SCRATCH based off of reference pictures, and the fact that he can share that art form at an extremely affordable price is just awesome.

This is what I love about the Fett community, people are constantly coming up with ways to help the community as a whole, especially in economic hardships. That's why I kinda shied away from WWII Re-enacting, where other units smack-talked against each other and vendors made a killing on severely overpriced reproductions.

P.S. - How about them armor parts I wanted to buy.

Awesome Chris Im excited as one of your big fans and patient customers I'd like to say thanks again...Love my armor love my helmet even though its a "budget" helmet its just as good as My MSH1 only thing its ears are removeable where the FP isnt but still has the seamed look. IMHO your stuff is amazingly accurate and quality is not lacking...Id be interested in a set of the budget gaunts for my comic fett...Ill talk to you next week at CV about that!

Beautiful site, Chris! I love how you're stressing getting back to the basics! Seeing the vacuformed gaunts for a great price is a nice touch!

This is great Chris! Love the site. You have been an integral part of my Fett build, as has this entire site. You truly are one talented guy and have contributed so much to this community its crazy if you really think about it. At these prices, a custom mando may end up happening sooner rather than later!

One thing i noticed on the site though...see here is my attention to detail at work lol...the creature from the black lagoon tab..says "Creature from the balck lagoon" =P get your people on that! LOL!

You guys are so awesome ! Thank you for all of the extremely kind words. It means so much

A lot of great things on the horizon indeed. I forgot to mention that the ESB gauntlet project is also a collaborative effort and the final pieces are yet to be shown. As I said before, the current pics you guys are reposting are teasers. Even the flamethrower has been
retooled as well and has yet to be shown. It didn't make it to teaser pic day Some other exciting tid bits too, but I didn't want to let too many of those kitty cats out yet. Saving it for the return from C5.

And on that note, cant wait to meet you guys ! It's been a while since they've let me out of the basement and a LOT of the faces and names have changed !

Again, thanks so much for all of the sentiments guys. Still feels like a family indeed !

Nope, traveling light this trip ! To be honest, I didn't even know I was going to C5 until about 2 weeks ago or less.
So it's been a bit of a bear to make sure everything is organized enough for me to leave

At this point, it's me, a bag of clothes, a phone and thumb drive ! The necessities
Leaving in the a.m. so I'm sure I'll see a lot of you VERY soon !

It's a great looking site, but I am getting an error. When I click on Vader armor and mask it takes me to fett armor and helmet. And it's in french? I believe I have your gauntlets from way back in 2004 they were vacuform, and they are still holding up very well, with just a couple of small cracks in them. Every time I wear the Fett I am the hit of the troop. Keep up the good work.

It's not in Spanish, it's in Latin... though why I'm not sure.

Chris, I have been trying to get an order going but I have had trouble making contact. Is there some other sort of protocal I need to follow? Let me know. Thanks.

The latin is just there as a place holder until Chris gets to those parts of the site.

Travisi, Chris just got back from CV so he's just getting sorted back home and wadding through all the other PMs that he has most likely recieved. I'm sure that he will contact you back soon enough.

How should we go about contacting you? I was waiting for a PM about where to send payment, but haven't heard back in over a month. I see that you are busy, and didn't know if I should go through your site now or a PM here.

Just tying up all of my business as noted in my Update thread before I left for C5. It was a busy time for me in the last month, I appreciate everyone bearing with me. I've spent the last 4 days after returning from C5 getting everything caught up for final shipping on Monday. So as of Monday we'll have a clean slate again

Yorke, I will be responding to messages this afternoon. Stand by

    Best,

    Chris

For the past few months I have been researching both fan made parts and actual film parts used to make Boba. I wanted Mando armor and I wanted to join the 501st. So for my very first build I decided on going with a screen accurate Boba. I have indeed been on the fence about who to go with and where to start. This post pushed me over the fence into Chris's yard :-)

Hi guys, My name is Steven and I'm From Moreno Valley, CA. I just bought my first FP helmet today and i cant wait to start building this suit! I was on the hunter's lair for about 6 years, but i recently sold my predator suit so I can start building my fett. What seems to be the most definative suit; ESB, ROTJ or SE?

Yeah, I think I'm going to go ESB on the helmet because then I can go either way on the body, ESB or ROTJ/SE. Thanks!
