    The fett in person

Just for those who dont know, or arnt at C4... the actual suit (the SE Fett or special edition with ROTJ body and ESB helmet) is here. No glass, no barriers. My self, Darth Miller, and Spidey Fett are on the case getting HUNDRED of hi res photos and yes, even bending the ruels to get some pics that havent been gotten before.

A few things to notice when we start posting is,

    1. The chest diamond has the raised portion like we all belive it origonaly had, this may be a repair and I am waiting on a confrimation from the archivest that I talked to for confrimation. As they belive this isnt a repair, but rather something else.

    2. The knee darts have 3 fine grooves in the end portion. This isnt in previous pics.

    3. The cape acording to the archivest has been on display inside out in every exhibit. I am trying to get a specail photo to show the weathering...

    4. the helmet has a battery pack with circut board and switch in it I never noticed.

We got close to this suit, like I said no glass, I will say this... we got to close... broke rules and it now has 3 security personel around it becase of me, but all for the sake of some good photos.

We will share all we have once we get them organized so stay tuened.

I will say this, all of our jump suits are under weathered by 1000%, our helmets need more over misting, and the red in person on the mandibles is almost brown with out flash photos. I plan to re work alot of my gear.

    Evan

Outstanding!!! Looking forward to seeing those images, especially without any glass between! In regard to the grooves on the knee darts, do you mean there are finer grooves in addition to the three rings we have previously seen on the darts at the AoSW (see attached pic)? If so, that would be a really cool find as we only knew about the three grooves at the tips! It is also awesome that you were able to see into the pack! We have been able to so that at MoM but never with the AoSW suit due to the glass! Again, great job guys! Can't wait to see the pics!

The helmet is powered by small aa batteries that are in a harness attached by a 9v connector. The card (built on a breadboard about 2 inches wide) controls the timing of the LEDs no servos in this baby. The power switch appears in some of the ref cd's not sure if the card appears though. Yeah I would be curious to know about the grooves the only ones I knew about were the three Art pointed out above (Are there more?)

    Re: The fett in person

But in that pic BB posted from AOSW, that was the left knee off one of the pre-pro suits. It wasn't an ROTJ knee anyway, so the ungrooved ones are more ROTJ accurate, correct?

As far as the jumpsuit weathering, refer here: http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f20/appears-rotj-jumpsuit-m-o-m-not-gray-17092/

Can't wait to check out the latest pics you guys got!!!

I can host them on a site so that we can all access them. That way they wouldn't only be available on a cd, that is if you were just planning on having them on a reference cd and not online at all.

Actually both knees of the AoSW/C4 suit had the grooved darts. The MoM suit has the ungrooved darts. If I recall correctly they aren't symmetrical grooves. I believe the front edge of the groove is perpendicular to the dart while the back edge is actually an angled cut. Evan, were there additional grooves or were these the grooves you were referring to?

BTW, here is the right AoSW knee.

I think the one in London would be the suit we commonly refer to as the MoM costume... an RotJ suit with the RotJ hero helmet.

I don't believe the full card appears in any of the current ref cds as it is too far in the top of the helmet. There MIGHT be one pic of the inside of the ESB hero helmet that shows it, but I can't recall.

WOW!!! That should be quite an interesting set of photos!!!!! Can't wait to see em. I hope you got some pics of you in your suit next to the real one Evan. Since your suit is really top notch, it would be interesting to see the difference between the two, and see what else can be done to make an even more accurate suit!!!

    Re: The fett in person

Sadly I wasnt able to take any pics standing next to it. I had to send my tub back with Batninja who drove it down here on sunday morrning.

But I will write up a detailed compare and contrast. I took numorus non flash photos to help us get the colors on the jump suit and helmet better. Between my self and the 501st photographer, DM, Spidey and another fellow whos name escapes me we have about a thousand shots. By breaking some rules I got some there I am sure nobody else got as well as Spidey. So I hope they help... and yes Bracks... we have a shot of the board.

I got a few pics taken in my armor next to the suit,
I asked the security chick if I could hop the barrier but she wouldn't allow it. Thanx alot guys!!!!
I'll leave it up to Andy to post them.
I don't think the Jumpsuit is screen used.
It's not the same as the One from FIDM
it looked purple to me too , but I din't really study it since it's not all ROTJ
We'll wait until evan & the guys gget the pics loaded to make a real decision

It was too funny watching DarthMiller, SpideyFett, and evan4218 bend in all sorts of positions for hours getting these different shots. DarthMiller wasn't satisfied with his camera's pics, so he went out the next day and bought a new one just to get better pics of Fett! These guys have tons of pics they'll share.

Spidey has one that will be just about the most unique to this site ever!

    Re: The fett in person

Hi all, Just wanted to check in, just got back in from C4.....had a great time!!

Should take some time to sort through all the pictures...

Like everyone else, I was sooooo Happy and Thrilled to see the hero helmet and AOSW Fett face to face with NO GLASS ....
I think I spent half of my C4 time in the Archives Exhibit.....when I wasn't eating or at the TDH booth me and Mrs. Spidey were in the Exhibit in Awe....seriously.

I have to say the moment I realized it was the ESB AOSW hero Fett , and was face to face with it, I had a tear in my eye......it was soooooo beautiful!!!!

**On Sunday I talked to the Archivist (and gave her a TDH CARD), Unfortunatly she asked not to post her name or post any pics of her, which I did take with her......she was extremely gracious.....
I mentioned to her that there weren't any photos of the left bantha skull shoulder bell that always seems to be covered by the cape on the AOSW tour......I also mentioned that there has never been any pics "released" that showed the inside of this helmet (well all of it anyway)....needless to say she was only able to accomodate on only one request....
So today Britt (Boba_Fetts) I think that's who Evan is talking about "501st photographer", and Darthmiller and Evan4218 were able to get pics of the shoulder from my understanding...as she did move back the cape to reveal no black streak, as seen on the MOM ROTJ Fett. **

As Evan4218 already mentioned, they seem to have added a RAISED chest diamond center piece....from viewing the pics, as seen from Braks's pics, it's the same chest diamond from the original AOSW exhibit on the Ref CD, but again they seemed to have added the raised piece....pretty cool stuff.

Now as far as the cape, When talking to the Archivist, she told me that the reason the cape is on backwards is because they tried to put it on correctly this time, But the original connection on the cape was soooo badly damaged and torn that the only way it would stay on was to put it on backwards.....plus they wanted to continue with what has been seen throughout the time this Fett has been on tour....(Which came, most recently from Korea) ...so looks like when ever they show this Fett exhibit, we'll continue to see the "Sharpie Boba fett" name...
She also mentioned the the only thing that is removed during shipping is the Helmet and Jet Pack ,then everything gets crated....which might explain why its never been changed....she did say she did try to turn it around...again way to damaged..

Again...we have a lot to go through, I will say it's not anything we haven't seen...just minor details that were always under glass....

    Will post pics soon..

    Alex

**OOPS, correction.....just looked at the REF Pics ...and on the AOSW the raised piece is there....my bad....
Although we do have a better pic that does show how raised it really is..

I think it's easy to get AOSW and MOM confused....

AOSW= ESB hero helmet; and ROTJ suit. (or SE version)
MOM= ROTJ hero helmet; and ROTJ suit.

The "better" part is what I am looking forward to! We have had good pics of this suit in the past but with all the guys at C4 that took pics, the better lighting, the lack of glass, and the better photography equipment used, I am betting we are going to see some of the best pics ever and who knows what all we might find! And isn't that what TDH is all about; going from good to great? Thanks for bringing our AoSW/C4 suit ref pics to the next level!

Having seen the M.O.M. exhibit multiple times and then the excellent reference CDs from Braks of that exhibit, it's exciting to see a bunch of your guys got to take pics without the glass barrier that can normally cause reflections. I bow to you guys for your efforts in sharing another piece of the Boba Fett puzzle with the rest of us. :thumbup

Yea I think the lack of glass allows everyone to see the true colors..which is what I was most interested in.
And Trust me, as Lee (R.S) and others have mentioned, the colors are WAY darker than what we all might think....

I think over all Britt (boba_fetts) will have the best pictures, as he had the best camera...(12 mea pixel with zoom lens)

Tambo Fett had a buddy on Friday that also will be sharing his photos, he had a 10 mega pixel camera....Thanks Tambo:thumbup

So looks like we will have unlimited resources when it comes to this exhibit..not to mention the VIDEO Mandalorfett took...

Thanks....will post pics later today! I promise.

Will there be a new section added to the TDH reference archive for these new pics?
    A "Celebration 2007" section maybe?
It might be easier to catalog the pics that way. Can't wait to see 'em!!!

    Re: The fett in person

To add a little bit to what Spidey got from the Archivest... I was luckey enough to meet with her as well, and asked many of the same questions. A few tid bits she shared with me that SF didnt mention are what they have in the archives that they use for these exhibits.

They have several crates with armor parts from ROTJ and some "Misilanious" peices as well. There are only enough peices to mix and match to make 2 full ROTJ body displays though. The raised part on the diamond is on some of the diamonds they have and missing on others. But there was never a repair. She didnt know why there were veriations on the knee darts with and with out the rings, but she did shed light on the fact that there are also multiple jumpsuits and acording to her the pants and top portion connect in the middle some how... but I have no proof to show how that works nor can I tell from looking at it.

The armor is attached with gromets (that may not be new but who cares) and I think the only chap who did there armor this way was Man Of War.

We did get several great shots of the board in side the helmet that Lee mentioned so I found that interesting. I am sure there are other things but I just cant think of them right now. Either way I feel lucky to have had the chance to talk to the one person whos job it is to keep my favorite costume safe and sound. I think the one pic I wish we had was the one of mine, Spideys, and DMs face when PredatorMV told us the Fett was at the con!

Hey guys, that was me (Britt, 501st Photographer) that was shooting. I shot about 4 gigs of 12 megapixel images with a 100-400mm L series zoom lens (which mean I could get super super detail and clarity and very very up close). I'll end up probably sending my photos via DVD to Art or someone who wants to put them up because I have a bazillion of other photos from other groups I have to detail with from C4.

Example shot... this is just a small section of a full size shot of the helmet. Just to give you all an idea of the detail.

WOW...great stuff Britt!....thanks for taking all the awesome pics....

Here are a few that give you an Idea of what kind of lighting we had to work with in the exhibit, with no flash and no addtional lighting source......also keep in mind these are scaled down to fit this board, so we'll post the higher-res ones later...

to me, this is what it actually looked like in the exhibit...in terms of lighting.

    Enjoy..

Pay special attention to the red brown color of the jumpsuit. That is what it is, no adjustment to color or lighting needed. Its quite dark.

Missed? As in details? Colors??? Elaborate on that. The big issue is there are multiple versions of armor and soft goods that we have been using on our costume. I think it is best to just pic one exhibit and base it off of that and the pics of that stop to ensure the details are correct.

The AOSW and MOM jumpsuits never appeared to be exactly the same colors to me. I know one of our members here has been able to touch the ROTJ MOM jumpsuit and said they flipped open the thigh pouch and the completely un-weathered material inside was "ESB light blue". Now, the AOSW one has always appeared to have a more "purply hue" to it.....

Thanks for the heads up Mr Fett... I'll try to concentrate on one version and one version only!! lol
I know there is 50/50 split between ESB & ROTJ versions within this community (not gonna open that box).
But as stated any guidance now and in future will not fall no deaf ears.

I would believe it on the light blue... I didnt think to flip open the pouch though... but there are, like I said before, 5 ROTJ under-suits. Each has the ability to be different.

Hey, I think due to the dye type used this suit has seriously faded over time. Just something to consider if you're making a suit more close to the time of filming or today as it sits.

Congrats to everyone who went to C4. I wished my timing in the Military service was more...well...to my favor. I feel so jealous when I saw the first pics indicating that the Fett suit was on display....with NO GLASS around.

Kudos to everyone. I want a REF CD of those pics....add me to the list.

Raised center diamond? Now you're gonna get everyone cutting out little rectangles of scrap plastic and gluing them in there to be more accurate I think.

Even, Spidey, and Darth Miller; I really do appreciate all of the pictures that you guys took of the SE suit, but I was extremely disappointed seeing it in person.

I don't know, I only looked at the suit for about 12 seconds and realised that members on the board have suits 100000% better than the original. Accuracy isn't really a problem anymore, I think it's the LFL archives who need to scope us out for accuracy and how to take care of their freakin' costumes. The thing was broken, gauntlets busted open, etc. I really didn't care.

Yep, there's some good jet pack info coming up too. Some of the seasoned members here may have seen some of the details before, but there were things I hadn't noticed previously.

That's true, but from a modern City Planner's point of view, if the building is dilapidated and inefficient, it should be removed.

I'm sorry guys, I'm just a little irritated because I get home to get yelled at by my parents for blah blah after a long trip, I lost my camera, and you guys don't want to here me whining.

I just feel the Fett suit wasn't at all taken care of after the films, especially the helmet that SE wears, it should have been taken care of much better.

The "SE" helmet was used by stuntmen during the filming of the ROTJ Sarlacc scenes. As with pretty much ALL movie stunt gear, they probably don't really care a whole lot about if they damage it or not, as long as it holds up for the shoot. They never imagined a society of crazed Fett fanatics (aka: TDH ) would care about matching up particular lines and scratches 20 years later on certain "old costume parts" (in hollywood thinking).

Some more photos to keep you all drooling... first, a little birdie told me to post two shots of the skull... per request. (these are again just sections of the larger images, and shrunk down slightly so they don't take forever to load)

Anyone have any idea what this is? It was under the left (Fett's left) chest piece. Someone thought it might be a electricity router.

Any idea what that clip thing is under the armour? Perhaps that silver clip thing is what held armour on, but I can't think of any other reason for it to be there.

that bar on the jet pack makes me think of corner bead in drywall... metal edging that goes on outside corners, since if it was just plaster, it would crack super easily.

    GREAT STUFF BRITT!!:thumbup....

I noticed that wire on the first day, if you have any good shots of the other side, It's on both sides.......not sure what it is though...???
I will say that it's on the same Pack as the Publicity ROTJ shot jet pack...I'll post a compare pic tonight..

and Last night Me, Evan4218, and Darthmiller all got together with Braks on the phone......we should be done viewing all the photos by this weekend , then we can send eveything we have to Braks....even the "special" shots.

Man, no black scuff on the shoulder bell, well guess my costume is now mostly AOSW with MOM gauntlets and shoulder bells. Can't wait to see these pics. Really hoping for some good backplate pics, maybe under the cape?!?!

That edging on the jet pack looks almost like a long hinge. Bizarre.

As for the center chest diamond... there's an easy mod for once!

This is all soo sweet! I have a request though, did anyone take shots of the vest sleeves? There is some intresting construction there which can barely be seen in some pictures. Like the grommet in the flightsuit sleeve to connect the shoulder armor through the vest and through the flightsuit too maybe? And the fact the the sewn lines on the outside of the vest sleeve fold under to the backside of the sleeve for only about an inch and then there is smooth fabric indicating that the sleeves are made more complexly than most know. Any good pictures of that stuff? I don't need someone to post them, just to confirm or deny they exsist.

Best photo we have ever seen of the skull sticker! I am sending it to a buddy of mine to make into a vector for any future use!

I'm glad I haven't painted my shoulders yet or put on the sticker.
