does anybdy want me in their group?

sounds like you need to either study the screen shot photos or find someone in your area willing to give you some hands on experiance. where are you located? also, I agree with sixxgunn13. your gonna have to start over again. IMO, I think the weathering is a bit over the top, not to say you didn't do a good job but you want to make it look as screen accurate as possible. find some weathering threads on here and start over. good luck getting it together bro and keep us posted on your progress.

BTW, ESB Fett doesn't have spats Saxter.

Yeah, I know, I just had them on because it was real windy downtown that day and I wanted to keep the wind from going up my jumpsuit so I put them on. Normally I don't wear the spats.

I think that is the very best first step that you have already taken, get input from the very talented TDH members here. Might I also suggest, that if you want to just troup on a more casual level, you could look for your local fan force chapter. The Fan Force groups are not costuming groups, but have people that do costume. They also do local charitiy events and what not. It is very helpful to get around local fans that have the love of SW too. Even if you meet people that are not specifically working on a Fett, they probably have some good skills that may be helpful.

Keep up the good work!

That's about how mine looked the first go-round "and NO I was not approved either". It took me 1 years worth of work and about $2000.00 to get approved.:facepalm The 501st standards have become more strict and if if doesn't look close to walking off the set in accuracy, your probably going to be beating your head against the wall trying to get approved. As it stands(and this is only my opinion) it would make a GREAT halloween costume, but it is not up to the 501st standards. Stick around this board for awhile and you will achieve your goal(y)

boba is a tough one to start trooping with. a stormie can basically be bought in a big box, and if you can peel and stick velcro, you can get a passable trooper.

with fett, there are so many parts, all sourced from different places. painting, variations on the suit... it's a lot of stuff.

not to mention that most garrisons only allow 1 of each character at big events, so your troopability is limited by how many of that character are in your region.

i always suggest that folks looking to just get out and troop start off with something easier than the "face characters" (boba, vader, jango, zam, etc...)

definitely don't give up on the boba, but it may be worth thinking about something like an imperial officer or technician type costume to get your foot in the door.

Don't get your hopes up on this, friend! Like others have already said, this is a VERY tough costume to put together. Getting it right the first time is not easy to do. And even if you do, you'll probably end up upgrading or making alterations in the future. Heck I am approaching version 9.0 on my costume! But you are in the right place to find ways to improve your costume. There is a ton of useful information right here on TDH!:cheers

It will take some work, but it is doable. I'm still working on mine, I won't even send pics into the 501st yet because I don't think I'm ready.

Repaint everything. The green looks too much like a forest green. The damage seems like it was sponged on. There is a paint list and a thread with some templates. Look around for those.

Get a jet pack. This is something that I'm still working on too, but it is a very vital piece. It looks like you also need a girth belt.

Readjust your armor a bit. There shouldn't be so much of a gap between your chest plates and your collar. It looks like you should get a new chest diamond, the silver on yours is uneven and there is too much of it. I would also cut out the light slots as previously mentioned.

It looks like you have metal knees. You might want to replace those as metal is hard to make it look canon. The curves just never turn out right. You should also look into replacing the gauntlets. The color seems right, but the shape is wrong. They look a little too round.

It seems like a lot, but once you get down to it it's not that huge of a deal. I'd say to get a jet pack and girth belt first, then start repainting and replacing (upgrading).

Good luck and show us progress pics!

At this stage of the game, I'd suggest that patience and perserverence are your key goals.

I'm taking the difficult route, and starting off with a face character... Jango. But I'm doing all of my research... I'm studying the character and pouring over every single picture I find from every angle I can find. It's taken me many months to get to where I am now, and I'm not finished yet ( as an example, it took me well over two months just to make my helmet ). My squad is waiting patiently for me to finish, as I'll be the first Jango in the Canadian Garrisons Capital City Squad. I'm looking at the beginning of April as my finishing time frame.

I've still got a ways to go, but I've got a goal in mind and I should be able to attain it.

You've got tha basic ideas down, now you need to refine them. You've got Boba down from 20 feet away, so now your goal should be to get Boba down from 2 feet away. What that means is, if some one ( a fan or kid for instance ) is standing within 2 feet of you, then they will believe with out any doubts that you ARE Boba Fett. If you can pull that off, then the 501st admission should be easy. ;)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... it's all in the details, because that's what makes a good costume a great costume.

So keep up the good work. Do some more researching and you'll be happy with the end result, because in the end it'll be worth all the extra time and effort, trust me. :)

Brody,

As the former CO of Badlands I'd like to say that I tried MULTIPLE times to explain this to you with ZERO response to you. We'd absolutely LOVE to have you out trooping with us and HAVE had you out trooping with us BEFORE you turned 18. It would be completely unfair of us to allow you to troop with Badlands now that you are able to apply in a costume that doesn't quite meet 501st standards. How would we explain that to new recruits who wouldn't be allowed to troop with us until their gear met the standards?

Brody...this is not at all about us not wanting you to come out with us. Members of the Command Staff Team have been trying to help you for a couple of years. At least one of them actually went to your house to discuss this with you. We are absolutely willing to assist you to get your gear up to 501st standards so you can start trooping! But we need you to participate in that process instead of not responding to our attempts. I gave up my BH standing recently because even my Fett isn't up to the current standards. It's a standard which we are ALL required to meet. Fett is a totally hard costume to do and for working on it yourself you've done an amazing job, and I've told you that many times.

I'm really at a loss here Brody. I'm not going to chase you to allow us to help you.....but the door is ALWAYS open for you to come and get the assistance you need to take your gear to the next level.

Thier you go Brody, now it's up to you my friend. help is out there, and those guys are willing to help you out. you just have to accept the fact that your costume does not meet the 501st standards and needs some improvements. this is an elite costume forum and you've heard from a lot of seasoned and experianced people here so get some help with your gear. don't get discouraged bro, stick with it and you'll have an awesome Fett in no time. keep us posted on your progress.

I just want to say thank you to all of you for taking the time to give your input to Brody. I hope that coming from outside of our Garrison and even in some cases I'm sure...from outside of the 501st that he NOW understands that we aren't holding him to some sort of standard that no one else is held to. Fett is disgustingly hard...that's why WebChief is painting my new armor and helmet so I can get that dang BH designation back! I miss it....~sniffle~

Well, I'm not in the 501st... yet, but even I know that you really have to do your homework and work extra hard on your costume in order to troop with the legion.

I'm not saying that Shade_99 hasn't put a ton of hard work into his Fett, as I can clearly see that he has. However... what he still needs to do is research ever aspect of the costume and character so that he can fine tune.

I know that you've got some scratch building skills Shade_99, as it looks like you made your own gauntlets. So use those skills and the help of your local garrison to get your suit up to par.

Trust me, I know how input from your local garrison can help immensely. You've also got the help of your fellow TDH members too. All you've got to do is ask, listen then apply what you've been told. ;)

It's worked for me so far, so give it a shot. What've you got to lose? :cheers
