Disney Ticket Advise

Hey guys we are planning a vacation in Orlando from June 7-13th and we want to visit some of the Disney Parks, there is a group of 7 adults and one child we will probably dedicate at least two full days to the parks, does anyone have any advise on where to get tickets and what options to add like the "Hopper", does anyone know if we can get a group discount or would we need more people.

Thanks for any adivise guys, also besides Disney and the associated parks what can we do in Orlando?

If someone can help me score a great deal there will be a reward in it probably one of our Pirate themed reunion shirts and some Fett/SW goodies thanks

I think the parks are so full of things to do you probably don't need the park hopper. If you stay from opening to closing (fireworks shows, parades, etc.) then you will have full and tiring days. This is especially true if you are travelling with a young child.

Wish I could help, my mom gets free disney hoppers every once in awhile.

I dont live in orlando, but you'll find that there's alot to do. One thing I think you would enjoy, is going to Downtown Disney, they have alot of really cool shops and resturants, such as "The House of Blues," a large Virgin megastore, and they have a shop just dedicated to mostly movie memorabillia, and thats where I almost got myself in trouble for trying to touch a screen used ANH C3-3P0  But yea, they also have "Pleasure Island," which is for adults only, they have different themed night clubs/bars

We also will go to a resturant called "Boma's" at the Animal kingdom lodge like once a year. Its a very awsome african buffet. Lots of food and very good quality. However, its very pricey. If I recall, it was $25 per adult!

You'll find that theres also alot of resturants outside of the parks, especially on International drive, but just warning you, at night (from what I remember) is that it can get very packed and crowded.

There's also a decent sized mall (cant remember the name, Florida mall?) Anyways, I should let someone who lives there chime in...

And I personally would be happy with a park hopper, I like being able to ride star tours one minute and then be able to hit the haunted mansion within the hour.

If your staying at a Disney hotel, WHATEVER your do, DO NOT, under any circumstances purchase the hotel with the tickets. Do they seperatly. The time before last I was there, I got sick with fever (at MGM(Or whatever they call it now) of corse, to which I missed Star Tours because I was forced to go back to the hotel and lay down for 3 days, and also pay a $120 Doctor's visit bill but thats another story.), if I would of had them with the hotel, I would of lost those days. So because I got them seperate, I got to use them the next time I went, so I preety much had a "free" 3 day pass the next year.

Also, if your staying at a Disney Hotel, like the New Orleans county hillbilly buyou or whatever its called, buy one of those food cards and tell me how it works out. I don't know anyone personaly whos done one, so I wouldn't mind hearing how that worked out.

And ya, if you have AAA, (not AA) you can get discounts on alot of things. Just ask about it when buying anything, or what discounts are offered otherwise. I'd also recommend Universal Studios of corse....You might be intrested in Sea World as well. :)

Hey jodo, while on a trip to IOA with a brass band, we got that meal plan where they let you get as much food as you want from designated resturants around the park. I was with 3 other members, and we bought 2 wrist bands, and boy, I tell ya, I was stuffed at the end of the day. I dont know if they still have it or not, I think it was like $12 at the time, but it was well worth it.

Oh, btw that sucks what happend to ya getting sick there. From what I heard, dont stay at that disney hotel where their themed to movies/sports. Ive been told those rooms are very small. Unless you decide to stay at one of the nicer disney or universal resorts, I'd suggest getting a hotel thats distanced from the main roads.

Actually...theres this really nice hotel Ive stayed at twice, large rooms and very good quality..I need to remember the name..I'll let you know

i was just down there a few weeks ago. i'd suggest that if there are that many of you going either bring your cell phones or get some walkie talkies, just so you can split up and stay in contact. not everyone is going to hit every ride in the same timeframe as you, and if you all have cameras you'll be able to compare pics and see the trip from different points of view. as far as the park hopper tickets go, we had them but we didn't use them. there's enough in all the parks to stay from open to close and keep everyone happy, especially if you're going in the summer when the lines are rediculous and you're waiting two hours for thunder mountain railroad or splash mountain, and even longer lines for pirates of the carribean. also, when travelling with that many people, do not expect everyone to be happy, disney world is supposed to be the happiest place on earth; that is a lie. i just went with my parents and girlfriend and there was plenty of griping and moaning going on. especially for the first two or three days, after that everyone will get into the swing of it and end up having a really fun time. finally, only two days to the parks? you're only going to be there 6 days, you need to put in at least that many to fully appreciate everything the four parks have to offer. probably 10 to get everything out of downtown disney and pleasure island as well. and if you're going over to universal studios add another two days to the trip to enjoy the two parks over there. islands of adventure ftw!

please take into consideration that my time frame estimates are taken from my off-season experience. i have no frame of reference for disney world during the summer, all of my three trips down there have been early in the year, january and february. may god have mercy on your soul for braving that through the heat.

I would think walkie talkies would be hard to use because of evry other person in the park being on the same channel as they would be set to.

Tubachris, I think last time we went it was alot more than that. I think the drink plan was more than $12.

Yes, when I was sick there we all stayed at the Animal Kingdom lodge....That African food/gumbo was HORRIBLE to smell when your sick. I think I had to walk near the pool (wich was green because of it being a lagoon?) to get away from it.

Also, for alot of people, don't stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, they make you pay for EVRYTHING! :p ;)

IM A FORMER DISNEY CAST MEMBER. IF YOU ARE JUST GOING FOR TWO DAYS AND WANT TO SEE ALL THE PARKS. I RECOMMEND GETTING A 2 DAY PARK HOPPER. THEY MIGHT DO GROUP RATES. YOU WILL HAVE TO CALL DISNEY RESERVATIONS. I HAPPEN TO BE GOING AROUND THE SAME TIME FOR STAR WARS WEEKENDS. ALSO YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK THIS SITE OUT WWW.INTERCOT.COM ITS THE BEST SITE I HAVE EVER SEEN FOR DISNEY. IT WILL TELL YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW. IT ALSO HAS COPIES OF ALL THE RESTURANTS MENUS. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE LOTS OF FUN.

If they have them for SW Weekends, if you missed Wave 1 of Star Tours figures, they're also going to have these for $25 -
