Dented Helmet coin

A series of the three would be interesting as well.

Collectors coins? Or more like a challenge type coin?

Just curious.

I have a coin from 501stpathfinders.net, I think it's brass. For an extra fee you could have the option of getting something engraved on the coin.

You might want to ask Brak's if you can have permission to use the TDH name and logo, ESPECIALLY if you intend on selling them on here. The domain and logo are registered to him.

I would be interested in something like this

Guy and Gals, we are open to the idea of coin. Just remember that the administration MUST approve the final design.


My suggestions:

* Diameter of the coin be 1.5" (3.81 cm).
* No more than 4 colors.
* You can do embossed will colors
* Don't cover the whole coin with color. It will look more like a button than a coin.


Othere items to think about:
* The more colors, the more it will cost, why suggest no more than 4.
* Each coin will have a one time die cost, which can be over $150.

it would be a high quality collector's coin. Not something you would find in say an action figure card, but in your vault.

You have permission to work on the art work for the coin.

Correct. The first thing to get the info is to figure out what you want to coin to look like. When I call for a quote, the first item will be what does it look like. So, lets work on the art work then go from there.

You'd be better off with (1) coin to start. Design it, have it made and sell it.

If that does well, then continue with the second in the series.

Or were you considering making (3) different coins all at once??

Yeah I would love the idea of a TDH challenge coin. My thoughts on design...

1. Front Boba Helmet, back Jet Pack with dented helmet name around border.

2. Boba next to Bantha skull on front, back Jango next to Zam.

As far as the coin challenge goes, I know people from the Army that would keep a large, heavy washer in their pocket and just tap it on the bar so they wouldn't have to buy the round.

I was thinking about getting a coin made for the HV&M. I think this would be a cool thing for the 501st to do, you could have a challenge at cons and such.

I was just listing design options for one coin.

I highly agree, second, third etc. coins only will be done IF this is a success.

Any other suggestions for what they would like to see on each side of the coin would be appreciated.

My idea for one side would be TDH Angels Logo with "The Dented Helmet" on the top and www.thedentedhelmet.com at the bottom.

I'll try to post some pics of my pathfinders coin and my Army coin, maybe that will help with ideas.

This would be a sweet idea! I would be in for a couple. I am a member of the 501st, so I am collecting the challenge coins from the different garrisons. They are really well done!

Challenge coin fever has now spilled over into the TDH.

Here are some ideas what we looked at for our Garrison.

Just to throw in my thoughts... I would definitely go with something simple that includes the angels logo on one side and something Fett related on the other, preferably the helmet, or the skull logo.

Well it's a good idea to have some merchandise, but how many people will actually buy them? We only have about 100 "active" members on these forums.

I'd buy one. I think we could get enough interest in these to produce them.

My idea for them (ar a side)"

-a very simple "sllouhette" of a Fett helmet (I'll try to post a pic of what I mean) with the mando skull on the other side. "The dented helmet" would be curved around the side.

-or have three different coins. All have the angels logo and "The Dented Helmet" curved on one side, but each has their own face, one for Boba, one for Jango, and one for Zam. The face sides have the names of the characters curved around the side.

We would also need to know the minimum order for the coin.

I think it should be the TDH angels logo since that is the logo of the boards and then maybe a Fett helmet on the other side, or the bantha skull either one. I would be in for 2 for sure.

That situation sounds familiar

I would love to see the dent on one side, but the problem is that it simply is not easily recognizable and most people would not be able to identify with it. I think the silhoette of Fett's helmet would be much easier to ID.

Whatever the final artwork is... I'm in. I love my 501st and my real military challenge coins. I've designed several for the military organization that I work for and also designed the upcoming New England Garrison coin.

The DH coin MUST have the Charlie's Angels pose on the front if you ask me... that's our defacto logo.

What type of metal would interest the group? I was thinking that a silver coin would be one of the cheaper metals.

I was thinking about if the website (www.thedentedhelmet.com) would be on the coin, and I think for collectors it would be best to leave it just as "The Dented Helmet". For Looks and in case the domain changes or what ever happens in the far far future, it would always be a valid name/logo.

I think we should talk to Bob (webchief) about where he went for his garrison coin since I know the 501st coins are really nice.

I agree with Webchief about the design. I think the Charlies Angels silhoutte on one side and a silhoutte of aMando helmet on the other side would be appropriate.

I like the idea of the TDH angels logo on one side and a Boba helmet on the other. Then if they turn out to be a hit (which I think they will), we can do angels/Jango and then angels/Zam coins. To make it the TDH trio set.

Whatever the design turns out to be, count me in for at least 4.

Who?!? J/k. There is no doubt that the customs have been given their place but I think the big three are still Boba, Jango, and Zam, with the variants being just that, variants of Boba... actually Jango is little more than a Boba variant, but at least he was in a movie.

Don't think I like this but here is one idea for the helmet on the back. The only cool part is that as the coin wears, the helmet will naturally "weather"!

Like Art said, the Charlie's Angels pose is TDH default "logo" and should be the face of the coin.

I really love that idea as well, although the side with the boba helm seems to be missing something, or seems a bit plain. I think it would look cool if it had a ring around it that said "the dented helmet" in aurabseh, or something similar...just to add a bit more pizzazz. Also, about the coin weathering, Yes that would be cool, but these coins don't really weather!!! If they are made similarly to the 501st ones I have, they won't weather at all due to the hard epoxy enamel. I've carried mine in my pocket almost everyday for quite some time, along with loose change, nails, screws, and even the occasional spark plug. Mine still looks like brand new!!
Also, I ran this by a few of my fellow garrison members that we may be develpoing a coin in the near future. I had a pretty good response, and I really think we will have no trouble when it comes to getting rid of these or trading them for other challenge coins. I really hope this becomes a reality...pretty excited about it!!

That's just it: it's a TDH coin. It's for us. If everyone "got it" then to me, it just wouldn't mean as much. It kind of gives it that mystery. It almost makes me feel, (Bob, dare I say it) elitist.

As I mentioned in my initial post regarding the Fett helmet coin side, I am not real crazy about it and the more I look at it the less crazy I am about it. While I love the "bantha" skull... It has been used so much that I really hate to use it... even though it is an awesome logo. In regard to the Angels logo, if this is to be a TDH coin, I don't know how it COULDN'T have the angels logo. That is our official logo and has been for years. Does everyone "get" it? I am sure they don't. But this is not a generic "Fett" coin we are talking about, this is a TDH coin. While we certainly don't have to use the exact angels logo layout I posted above, I think if this is to be a TDH coin, we need something like it on one side... The other side is still up in the air. I am hesitant to use the dent because it is so obscure and something like the bantha skull is too overused... So what do we go with? What defines us as a community?

Would it be possible to use the crest on Boba's chest. I always thought that it might be a family crest since there is an F even though the letter is not in the mando dictionary and since a piece of wheat is on the crest and Fett means farmer.

Well, if you;re wanting to incorporate another logo to represent the board as a whole, I really can't think of anything. If you choose a Fett emblem, the Zammers are left out and vice versa. Even though we aren't an outpost or detachment of the 501st, the Imperial cog is an option. Also, since we are the Dented Helmet, like Art suggested, just "dent" the back side of the coin.

I have a suggestion: Since this will be a board coin, is there any way to put a poll in a seperate thread and let the board members vote on it?

I would also suggest putting a blank bar on the back so the members can engrave their board name.

I agree with the idea of a bar to engrave one's name on, the Pathfinders coin has such a bar.

I definitely like the Boba, Jango, Zam design. The other "bucket" design isn't bad at all, however, I'd like to see other options, though...something that reflects the nature of our forums--something instantly recognizable.

I would say we should get one side of the coin in Panzer green 3D with the dent offset a little to the left (just the Dent). 3D looks good and can be reversed with the dent dug into the coin. It can be made to exact specifications with paint chips and all. Put the angel on the opposite side. Just my thoughts.

good point on the "overdoneness" of the skull...

when i think of TDH, i think of notcing the details that others might not. the squeegee, the dental expanders, that sort of thing. stuff that even a pretty hard-core fan of the characters wouldn't notice.

a centered dental expander would be sort of silly, but reflects what i think of when i think of this place.

Here is another idea for the back.

I don't know if this would be too detailed, but what about an EE-3, Westar-34, and whatever the gun is that Zam uses, all crossed together. With the EE-3 and Westar making an "X" and Zams rifle vertical in between?

I don't know, just throwing out some ideas.

ooh I like the angels on the front and the profile on the back, very classy!

Definitely getting closer! I do like both angel versions, but the one with black silhouetted figures stands out a little better. Just for heck's sakes, how about a few more versions of the latest design. It's just fun to see what you come up with when you stretch your imagination. I do really like the side 2 Boba silhouette a lot.

I like the chest displayand I love the dent idea. Just because both are kind of random and regualar people won't "get" it.

I like the chest display or even a dent design for the back.

With the coin being for member of TDH, who cares if the rest of the world does not recognize it?
