lol, the taco in the first pic is awesome
even Assassin's have to eat.... Mexican
Wow! Great job Taco!!
That looks perfect!
the middle layer, the outter stitch on the doll make it look like they should be a SMIDGEN out more, with more of a gap between the 2nd and 3rd vertical stiches
but that is one mean looking belt! I will watch this thread with much interest.
nice!
=)
Dude this is awesome, I can't wait to see how everything's gonna turn out : D
I need to find someone willing to sew up the tunic part of the costume, ladysewforus is too busy... :P
Beyond that, still need to find the sword, daggers, boots, and the hidden blade, probably wanna get them all custom made...:D
Awesome job Taco!
Can't wait!
That taco looks delicious.:drool The belt looks awesome, man!:thumbsup
Darkesword I'm also getting together with a lady I know and we are going to try and make the little sliver decorative parts, such as the emblem in the middle of the chest that holds the leather straps plus the gauntlet coverings, etc. Shes a sculpter.
Ooh sweet ok. I was just about to ask you about them :D :P
I'm selling my Clone armor to pay for these pieces mate :D
It's on ebay as we speak.

Got some work done on the right hand bracer. Have not put on the straps with buckles but got some craving and tooling done on them....
Beatuiful work! It's gonna look great Fitz!
Wow thats some amazing leather work. Maybe I should check this game out!

Forcebewitya.
Man these are amazing, did you get the email from my friend Redsleighdown?
His email is redsleighdown@aol.com and he wanted to get some of the leather pieces of the costume (altair) as well. He sent you an email, thanks!
Also, I expect my Clone to sell, if it doesn't I have a buyer but he'll be buying it later on, after he pays off the Master Chief costume I sold.
Thanks Taco

nicely done !!! Great leatherwork bud !
Those are SWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEET! awesome leather work!
Man , that is beautiful work!!!
Here is my final pattern and bracer for the right hand. It took me three tries to get it right but the this one works the best.
very nice!!
What type of dye's do you use for your bracers?
They look really nice. I love the weathering techniqe too.
:thumbsup
Seeker you can mix some water based dyes to get a weathered look, or try antique paste, but use wool to apply it. And dab at the leather instead of side to side or circles.
Doing a fantastic job Taco!
Just thought I'd peek my head in. Lookin great my friend.
those look awesome...
now comes the ultimate question:
how much to make me a pair?
Those bracers look like something out of WETA studios:suprise this is going to be a most excellent costume:thumbsup
Thanks man - what color did you use for the brown?
If you use antqiue paste or gel, use medium brown and dark brown togther. If you use water based dye, mix different browns and apply using a mist spary bottle, not the laser jet spray.
Not the final result but getting closer to what i want it to look like
Very nice!!!!!!
Gosh man, Taco this is gonna be amazing : D
So far....
WOW.....can you pm me your estimated cost again? I think I lost that email... :/
Hey Darkwsword you can view some updated progess at my site
www.el99centtaco.com
Thanks Taco, thanks for the updates as well :)
I'm gonna try parting out my clone, that might help it sell. :D
Considering your reference, you did an amazing job! Can't wait to see the finished product!
Stunning! Was your leather supplied to you in that thickness, or did you do it yourself? If so, what technique did you use? I've been trying for months to get any of my leather to harden, but I just can't figure it out. :?
Murphoid you can get leather in different thickness's. I'm using about an 8 oz. If your tring to stiffen up your leather, heat up some water up to 180 degress I believe it is, (just the point where water starts to boil. Soak your leather in it for 10 secs. Form your leather and let it dry. It should harden.
Thanks much, Taco. I guess I just wasn't being patient enough with it.
Ah killer man. This is a costume i actually was plannin on doin. I told my friends i need four volunteers to dress in white robes for holloween :lol Sweet job though man. Any thoughts about the hidden blade?
Ok getting ready to do the knife sheves for the throwing blades, I will do 2 methods, on is applying a thin coat of sliver over the handles while just using something like rub n buff on the blades, or just rub n buff the whole things. These are the blades I will be using
Hey taco, I'll get you those measurements asap. I need to buy a tape measure and such. I'm busy because our midterms are coming around...grr
At any rate, I'll pm you and email you the measurements that way you have them as fast as possible. Thanks!

- Darke
how do you get a finished edge on the leather? i always thought of doing similar projects like this but never figured out how. please share
My god thats ******!!!! i love this game. hope to see your great work at a con one day
Solochaser you really wanna know???? You'll have to sell your soul....Muhahahaha...no not really....ok heres the secert.
When you cut leather or buy it (espically precut) you have a sharp 90 degree angle. You need a edge beveler. I prefer to use a keen edge beveler. You will run it down the corners of the edge and trim it off, front and back, making it round off.
Then take some gum trach and apply it to the edge. Then take a edge slicker and rub it back and forth along the end fast. The smooth plastic creates friction and the heat will bond the leather fibers together making it very smooth and slick and shiny.
Sick!
I am watching this thread with great attention.
Hey Taco I might have to see this awesome opp you have going on since I only live like a hour away!
Any pics of the completed costume Taco?
