hey all, im making a day of the dead, steampunkish looking mask for a larp (live action role play)

i've got a don post piece o **** boba helmet i dont use and it's horribly warped anyway, i wanted to kind of "weld" the entire T shape together and in it's place put 2 circles (like just pvc circles that ill put glass under) to make it look like eyes or goggles, and i wanted to connect the mouth part and paint on teeth and a spade-shaped nose.

the only problem is i dont know how i could weld them together, i will be using this for airsoft, so it will have to be sturdy. i was thinking about putting something like cardstock over the top, coating it in epoxy and blending it in with spot putty, idk if that will work or not though.

any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I'll post pictures of it when i finish too btw.

another idea was to take a shoulderpad or something, cut it to the right measurements, and weld it on? perhaps?

this is what my mask looks like right now, i cut it in half behind the ear thingies and i removed the lense and antenna. its kinda floppy so dont worry about the eyes.

this is what i want it to look like.

all i really need to know what to do is how i could fill in the T where the visor used to be. once i figure that out i can pretty much take it from there. i was thinking about using bondo or spackle or something and coating it in resin. would that work? idk what to do!

I would make a plastic backing attached from the inside. If it's those soft plastic helmets, you might conside some rivets for a solid hold, but counter sink the heads so they can be covered and not seen. Then make more plastic cutouts to fill in the visor area till you reach the thickness you want.

i cut the mask in half (kinda wanted to make it more like kroenen from hellboy) so i could just use the back part of the helmet and stick it on there. i was thinking about sauldering it on but idk how well the sauldering iron will work on this stuff, i could give it a shot but i dont want to mess up my mask too much. after a weld it into the inside i guess i could fill it with spackle or something and coat it with resin? well this is after i put the pvc holes for eyes that is.

Its still a big WIP, i have to add the leather straps to keep it on my face, i also gotta add the glass under the eyes and i gotta do touch ups to it, i dont know if i want to keep the bullet scratch or fill it up, idk. i randomly smeared some bondo on it because i wanted to give it that home-made from a mexican cantina kinda feel, idk what you'd call it but i intentionally cracked and caked it on in parts, it's not meant to look perfect.
