Custom Boba Fett Gonk (Yes, a Gonk!)

That is cool. Love the concept. I will have to check out the gonk thread. Somehow I missed it. The ranger finder is unique and clever uses.

All the little features you built into this blew me away; in addition to the killer construction/paint job. Nice work!

Thank you! He was a lot of fun to build. Feel free to PM me if you decide to build your own.

I upgraded the USB hub inside him this week. I was using a 5v DC powered HUB and I switched to 12v. The 5v was struggling to charge the iPhone consistently. The new hub added some extra punch and brightened up the LEDs in the rocket pod.

I also upgraded the iPhone 3G to a 3GS with a cracked screen to add to the weathering. The 3GS has more memory, portrait lock, and runs the YouTube app so now you can watch Gonk clips on the Gonk. I was also able to add the iPhone to the Find my iPhone app. Now I can track Boba Gonk anywhere on the planet just in case he takes off across the desert looking for his former master.

He's all done now. No more upgrades to do. (Unless I have any more crazy ideas.). lol

Well, I thought about it and there really wasn't a way to incorporate the Jetpack into the back of the droid and still be able to use him for storage. I had to add 10 pounds of counterweight to the front under the internal liner so that when his "lid" was open he didn't fall backwards. lol

The main point of the droid was to be somewhat functional with purpose. Watching Star Wars on the cracked iPhone, storing Xbox stuff, and being able to charge your Xbox controllers or your phone were paramount. I just had a lot of extra parts from past builds that I was able to incorporate into him and the Boba Gonk idea just took shape. Mainly because I had a lot of extra paint from my Fett build. loll

Thank you for the compliment, BTW!
