A couple noob questions.

New Hunter
First of all I would like to thank everybody here. I am planning to start a Boba build shortly. I have always wanted a Boba Fett costume and the information posted on this site has helped me greatly.

First question: Is there any measurements as to the thickness of Boba's armor plates that were used in the movies? I just want to try to make my uniform as close as possible.

Second question: Has anybody ever tried to build a Fett costume using real ballistic materials? I think SAPI plates could be used the flak jacket and kevlar fabric could possbily be used to back up the other armor plates on the body, knees, shoulders. The helmet would be more difficult but a kevlar helmet could be used I guess. I'm not planning on doing this just asking.

These costumes are uncomfortable and heavy enough without protecting you from flak. In general people try to walk the line between lightweight, durable, and screen accurate.

the SAPI and kevlar would make the suit unwearable. This is because of not omnly the weight of it as we do it now, the sapi/kevlar would probably add another 20-40 lbs. Also as any member of the armed forces can tell you, sapi plates and kevlar, esp the helmet are just almost unbearably hot in the summer months. Use this as a Fett and you're gonna be dead from heat stroke inside of an hour. They key to doing Fett, esp during summer, is to think comfort and ventilation. I removed my circuit board from my helmet and put screen on it just to improve this factor. Under my jumpsuit i usually have a t-shirt and my boxers. I plan on replacing parts of my jumpsuit that are hidden under my vest with some mesh like material so I can stay cooler. Trust me, you don't want to overthink this suit, yeah in the movie is protects him form explosions etc... but we on the other hand will not be facing any similar circumstances (hopefully) so there is really no point in making it bulletproof, explosionproof, etc....proof

long shot here...but what if someone is so much into fett that they decide they gonna b a bounty hunter too and they decide they gonna use the suit to make their FETTish even more known xD

Well, unless that person was a High Clam Lord, I don't think it's worth discussing.

they'd never be able to catch anyone, they'd always be outrun. And then they'd die of heat stroke. Then GL removes our permission to use his copywritten material. The End.
