Death Watch mandalorians ... cool
Fire up the DVR.
Sometimes I think Karen should regret her choice, the trailers wont look so dar'manda as it telled to be.
But first look at the next 3 episodes to get sure...
I really can't wait for Friday
wielka szkoda że te odcinki są takie krˇtkie
Try that in English.
Another nice little scene to hold you over until Friday
Oh come one you guys, Friday its right on the corner.
You guys are lucky, I dont even know when it is my turn to watch.
I got a question and an awsner...
Is that somekind of force pike or is it a lightsaber.. with black blade :S ??? (Hope not)
And. I'm from sweden, and season 2 havn't started in our country yet, so I know how you feel carves... But all season 1, and 2 episodes is avible here http://www.watchtheclonewars.com/
So I have watched every 11 Episodes on season 2 on that site ^^ Works great
Well, "Pre Vizla" said it is a lightsaber stolen during a Templeraid. Porperbly during the Sacking of Coruscant, I guess.
And i hoped it was "just" a Vibrosword... If they jet used a Beskar'kad it would properbly most awesome.
Well, Iv'e never heard of black lightcrystals... verry silly in my thoughts -.-
hope it's a vibro sword then

Don't know if it's truely an actual thing or not, but in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed- The Ultimate Sith Edition, one of the things you can unlock is a black lightsaber crystal. Maybe. ^_^
well when he first pulls it there is no blade. I have heard of the black saber but mostly people bickering they do or do not exist................. (kinda a funny argument seeing that no light sabers really exist) but hey its sci-fi.
Weren't there a black Lightsaber crystal in Kotor2? Or did i just played a Mod? I dont know. XD
Hm a "Black Light"-Saber would be funny when it would reveal white "marks" on there Armor XD
Friday! Friday! Fridaaaaay! woohooooo! Im getting my popcorn ready its gonna be a great night to watch this episode. At last the mandos are here. Wow they did mention the deathwatch. I love the blue colors on these mandos .
Hehehe, saw the episode this past Monday with a few other fellow TDH'rs...but we were sworn to secrecy with a NDA. You guys are going to love it!
My son and I are pumped and we can't wait to see this episode and the few that follow. The Insider article has some great reference shots but they skipped out on the jetpacks.
I've made a custom, or... tribute fett costume.
IMO even Jango was a tribute to Boba Fett. I believe Rick Mc Callum sais something like that but don't pin me down on that one.
Isn't this going a little far... I mean now there's a whole group of them and one even has a lightsaber like weapon.
Instead of being rare, almost every single story, game or other thing from the star wars franchise get's it's own... mysterious Mandalorian (s). But then there's quite a number of them by now, and this is all way before the original trilogy.
What made Fett so popular was the... who is that guy and where is he from.
Seeing all this, shouldn't we and all the characters in the star wars universe react like:"ah... another... man... mando... manda... ah whatever, stoic dud in a bucket..."
I like certain outfits of the mandalorians that are created by members here or in certain EU stories. But I hope all this doesn't take away from ... Boba Fett.
And that sucks !
Just silly to make a forcecrystals with black blade, to get it more.. darker, cooler or something :S
The black blade was in fact in Force Unleashed... with a stamp from Uncle George, it (like everything else in that game) is now cannon.
IMHO: I'm a Boba loyalist.... But, I'm looking on the bright side of this. These characters are cannon, which means, now there are more mando options for those who don't want to be Boba or Jango (Thank God, cause there are areas that have more of us, than they have trooping events to divvy out), but still would like official 501st approval.
I'm quite interested, matter of fact, to see what materialises.
Boba had lightsabers too...
In the Q&A session after our pre-screening, Dave Filoni did say they intentionally designed the helmet of this Mandalorian group to be "not as cool" as Boba or Jango, and that one way they did this was by omitting the rf.
Psshhh...it's a Mandalorian helmet. There's no such thing as "not as cool", even without the RF.
Boba fett had carried a lightsaber faught vader with it

I would argue there's no such thing as "not cool", but nothing can ever trump the original helmet...Boba!

1 hour and 10 min. left till the world will be changed FOREVER.
pretty cool hopefully they wont kill all of them in the nexy two episodes
Just a heads up. In the Q&A session, Filoni said they used Boba and Jango costume design cues in the Mandalorian city's architecture.
just watch ep12 I assume it was the first episode with mandos or shall i say death watch! unlike the comic series the death watch look the same as regular mandos.
I like the episode and the strict ways of the mandalorian ways it was awesome. I also notice parts of the city design wich resembled armor parts.
Ya, like the chest diamonds on the walls.
Awesome episode, indeed. There's just something about Pre Vizsla suit that's just so cool. I love how all the grey's and blue's just come together. Might have to make his suit a project someday
I'am a bit uncomfortable with these "new Mandalorians"
They are totally SQUARE! Peaceloving and civilized...
Look at there Architecture? Cubism?
I was compfortable with a Culture of Nomads and Warriors who spend an easy life but love there children and tolerate everyone who is not a huttun and using "peacekeeping" in the Skirata way: ( 'You wanna mess with us?!" - "÷hm ÷hm NO!" - "You see, we are Peacekeepers." XD )
But Somehow the "new" reminds me of the Postwar Germany.
Our "violent past" is contempted -Those square Shabuir of the Politicans, TV-Guys and others are just talking about "peacekeeping", how "good" multiculturism is, and how bad violence is.... They think they can carreer with it.
And those "national preservers" who think they are some kind of resistance and revolutioners ARE infact just a bunch of hooligans who just spray there swastikas on some conrcrete wall befor getting there social welfare check.
i dont want to wide this out lez get back to topic
Thinks i'd liked:
-The use of Mando'a - even if it was suposed to be a dialect its a beatiful language. XD
-The way the Deathwatch ( a.k.a. the new True Mandalorians ) kicked Obi's ***. most of the Time.
-those ancient etnical yell elements in the soundtrack
Thinks I'd dislked:
-The whole Concept of the Peacloving new mandalorians.... come on... this messes up the last 10 Years of the EU...
-the discrediting of Jango Fett as a ruthless Bounty Hunter which "somehow" get the Armor. No word about the Civil War, Galidran, Tor Viszla or his "heroism"
-Viszla seems to be a commom Name under the "concordians"
-how easily the guys in der buy'ce could knocked out with 1 or two knocks against tehre protected head

the only thing i didnt like , is when the pulled a james bond " oh the jedi is unconceus , instead of taking his light saber and chopping his head off ,lets hang him upside dow , and give him a fair chance to escape ,
Yeah, that was a very "Adam West BATMAN" way of dealing with a jedi. LOL!
Although I liked the episode itself, the whole of Mando EU has been up-ended now.
As for the Death Watch wanting to bring back the "old ways" so to speak, the only part of this that I think fits is that in OPEN SEASONS,
I got the impression that Tor Viszla thought the True Mandos were being softer and more sanitized than ancient Mandalorians.
It also seems like they are making "Condordia" into how Mandalore has been described in the established EU as the more agricultural world
while Mandalore itself basically reminds me of Coruscant with a 60's resort feel.
We'll see how it works out I guess.
I think the Mando's were concerned with a Master Jedi doing some sort of mind trick or Force Action. So best to just leave him in a Shield and smash him, kinda makes sense to me. However the problem with the episode for me is that Two Mandalore's had no problem taking out Obi-Wan with a saber, then later he defeated them both unarmed, then took on several with ease when earlier could'nt handle two?
Another thing is when Pre took on Kenobi with a lightsaber....Yes Boba Fett challenged Vader with a lightsaber, but anyone remember how that went for him?
Wasn't that in a STAR WARS TALES comic?
I for one have not seen so great a storyline so completely (and needlessly) trashed since Highlander 2! Peace-loving Mandos! Completely disenfranchising Jango from the last 10 years of EU! Has the Star Wars universe gotten so big that GL can't remember when his own canon is getting seriously screwed with? Karn Traviss developed such a cool Mando culture, I can't understand why they made a complete 180 from it. The only thing that could have made that episode worse would have been to have made the entire population of Madalore Jar-Jar clones!
Prime Minister Almec's comments about Jango not being a true Mando didn't bother me much. Since Mando's (in this series) are peace-loving and Jango decided to become a bounty hunter, it makes sense for them to shun him like that.
Shall we set up a Petition for those who stand against this epic rape of fandom canon and wont accept the Clone Wars Storyline to protect our Religion? XD
Something you guys have to realize is that GL has said time and time again...he doesn't care what the vocal fans want. It's his sandbox and he's going to rule it the way he wants unfortunately. Honestly, what GL set out against in his early years (The big business film industry) he's actually become.
I don't care too much about Mandalorian Canon, so the fact that a few things didn't quite line up with other EU didn't bother me too much. However, the apparent reference to Jango just being a bounty hunter that acquired his armor from unknown means did bother me, but I'm hoping it was just a comment meant to disparage him because he became a well known bounty hunter rather than a factual statement about his background.
that's exactly how i read ir foxbatkiller. i figured it was the statement of a politician trying to insulate himself and seperate his people from jango and what he stood for. among the true mandalorians, jango was as revered a legend as jaster mereel although some questioned his life post mandalore. these new mandalorians have everything to gain from seperating themselves from jango fett and trivializes who and what he was.
I loved this part, it felt very Vader-esque
this scene bothered me too.
Its a bit to cliche that the evil guy shot one of his failing minions... But if he would straight this way up he have to shoot the half of his clan....
it was realy unnesecary du shot this guy just for a dramatic entry
Partial cross-post from Mando Mercs:
Specific and general responses and impressions...
Regarding the chest diamond motif in architecture... Ugh. Mandalorians are a practical people (or at least, they were). Their armour was a practical armour, no unnecessary flourishes in the basic design. The chest diamond, in Joe Johnston's original drawings served a purpose. It's not decoration.
Some argue that we never saw it used in the movie, therefore it doesn't necessarily exist. I counter that we never saw Boba or Jango use most of their kit in the movies. Does that negate the knee darts. minimissiles, compact blasters, etc., that went unused? As far as I'm concerned, my Mando costumes' chest diamonds are going to be compact tractor beams. So seeing it as an achitectural motif made my teeth itch.

Regarding uniformity in the Death Watch. There are exceptions to every rule, but remember our only exposure for a lot of years was to Mandalorians all wearing the uniform of the Protectors -- i.e. essentially the ESB Boba costume. I dug out my Marvel ESB adaptation to check something else and noticed that Boba has the same all-green-with-a-white-cheeked-helmet scheme as Fenn and Tobbi did a few issues later. Thus they way they appear in the famous Fenn flashback splash page was not a different colour scheme. It was supposed to be the ESB Boba. Yay for ****** '70s/'80s comic-colouring technology.
But if the Protectors had a uniform, it makes sense to me that the Death Watch might, too. Orginazation and unity over person. Same with many members of Jaster's True Mandalorians stripping their armour to bare metal to show solidarity with Jaster having done so when he left the Protectors.

Regarding continuity and whether this was Mandalore-the-planet... If I understood correctly, this was the first of a three-episode arc? If so, I'm going to continue to reserve judgement until the arc is finished. The Atlas is suggestive, but could have been invalidated, despite being recent. This could even be a regional thing. This might be a part of Mandalore -- like, say, Paris. And the parts we're used to seeing are, say, the steppes of Russia, and Kal and his boys have no use for even that level of proximity, so they're chillin' in Mongolia.
I know George is fond of depicting planets as all one geostructure, but the EU has polar ice caps on Tatooine, so I see no reason so far that the EU can't be retroactively applied to this if it is Mandalore. The forests and City of Bone of the comics might be on the other side of the planet, for all that's been laid out so far.
I'm interested with the capabilities of the black saber.
I remember reading in one of the SW novel saying that the crystal used in the lightsaber was a very special crystal.
And the red crystals (used by the Sith) are considered banned because when it is used as a light saber, it can cause damage to other crystals inside other light saber when come into contact.
So, what so special with the black crystal then ?
Aha... so Jango was just a "ruthless" bounty hunter... shooting your own minion is less cruel then... then what? Hitting your head when you board your ship?
Perhaps we'll see Boba frying all of this thingy...
That, or a man with a huge dead fish will walk in the scene, slapping someone, leaving, that's it.
