Chat function?

I heard there used to be a chat function on the site. It would be sweet to be able to chat with all the guys that are browsing the forums. Would it be difficult to implement something like that?

there was one in the works at one point, called the "cockpit," I believe, the Dent was testing it, it showed up, and people saw it, but for some reason, he didnt keep it up.

In my experience, no-one ever really uses those... they get popular for a day or two and then fizzle.

with AOL, Yahoo, MSN, etc... there's not much of a place for them.

I remember The Cockpit, the whole five minutes it was up. I think that would be great. People used it all the time back when I frequented The Hunter's Lair. I don't think it would be underused.

I agree with that. While it would be a cool feature to have, and maybe brag about...I think that since most people run Trillian ,or ebuddy, or any of those all-in-one chatters...that the chat feature here, may not get used at all.

Just my opinion. It might be cool to have, especially if it got used regularly.

:cheers

But the cool thing about a chat function is that you don't have to download anything for it. Plus, you can keep the clutter down: imagine trying to keep track of who's a TDHer on your AIM buddy list and who's not. With a chat function, everyone is on the board with their TDH screen name.

Gotta agree with those who are saying it will not be used. We tried it several years ago and for about a month it got attention... after that, interest died and no one was ever there. :(

I would be worried about the "chat spammers" and the hassle of using the "iggy" feature.
I like it like this going from thread to thread that intrest you and not feeling like you jump right into someone disagreement or subjest you have to try to catch up to to fit in.
Just my .005 cents
