TheColonialFleet.Org
Lots of good people over there, friendly incredible people!
Correct, but its just ColonialFleet.org
Very good bunch, what costume do you want to put together? If your trying to do a Jango and say a Flightsuit, get off the computer and go work some overtime, they are both very expensive suits and the Flightsuits are getting more expensive.
yeah, i still type thecolonial, but it redirects. Just been gone for too long...lol!
Yeah, CMA has one of the best using the real fabric, so he knows. His is the best thing since sliced bread. His is so good, they pretty much gave him a real raptor![]()
and hurry - I think registration is still open!
I'll ask a buddy of mine. He has a stellar Cylon.
I also recommend SciFiHero.net, it's a not a dedicated BSG site but there is a very good BSG section and the people are great there as well. There's a bit of cross pollination between SFH and TCF as well and between the two you should be able to find out everything you'd need to make or buy your own BSG costume. The guy who runs SFH (goes by Lostncybr) is currently taking orders for a run of custom made service blues and he also offers kits to make your own set of Galactica BDUs as well.
another bump for colonialfleet. best frakkers around.
Yep, www.colonialfleet.org all the way.
(Radium from TCF)
I didn't really get a warm fuzzy feeling when I joined TCF. If I recollect, after a few posts, there were derogatory comments about my callsign being three syllables ("BatNinja") instead of the preferred two.
I didn't see many folks I recognized from other boards, so I haven't been back in a while. I've since changed my callsign to 'Badger', but spend most of my time over at ASAP.
There's tons of great info on TCF, but I just didn't feel very welcome. My Viper costume is almost complete, but the folks over at ASAP get most of the credit in helping me find all the parts.
Wow, I'm suprised Eric. I have heard from some people though that havent felt very welcomed there either. I've known a couple that sometimes spoil it for everyone, but the 3 syllable callsign is just dumb then, you choose your own, and Batninja it should be.
Can't wait to see your Jock Smock at All Con
TCF has sort of a strange vibe... its a close knit group, but it's hard to get knit in. I've been there for a long time, but don't post often. Call sign straightedge.
I don't post often mostly because I haven't really "clicked" well... probably because I'm not much of a partying at the con sort of guy. I'm more just a costumer, so until I feel all warm and fuzzy, I mostly just talk shop.
hi
well i been trying for 5 days to get on that site i agree with the strange vibe thing
dean
I've been waiting to get in also. I wanted to check it all out after I won my production-made BDUs at the auction.
it just taking a long time to sign up and a lot of hoops to jump though also seam to want alot of personal info
I tried to sign up recently on TCF. I got the message that my registration was approved, but can't post anywhere, even on the "Nugget" forum to do my initial 5 posts or whatever the requirement is. I don't even have permissions to PM the forum admin to try to fix the problem.
So I sort of gave up and stick to ASAP for my BSG costuming fix.
A Site About Props - the site is very useful, I just think the dictator of that board is a jerk. I lost interest in posting there when I made a post disagreeing with MJF and 2 minutes later it had been deleted
Wow, is that the same Colonial Fleets from about 6 or so years ago? I am/was a member of the forum that was pretty much dedicated to TOS stuff, so I don't know if its the same one?
TCF started just in 2006, so its not been that long ago.
I've never seen a nugget "turned away",etc. So I was just wondering what you guys meant, I've always felt a real welcome feeling from TCF. I personaly feel a better vibe there than at ASAP. At TCF you can discuss things at will, and actualy have good conversation. ASAP seems to be more....I don't know....a more....controlled? Enviroment?
that might actually be why i don't feel at home at TCF. for me, the props/costumes/etc... come first, and the relationships follow.
i start off only interested in how to make the best uniform i can. and along the way i make friends. so maybe i fare better in a controlled environment?
I was up for doing a costume and meeting other pilots as well, but the nugget-bashing and 'enhanced' registration process made it a pain.
I still visit the site, but half the time, I don't even log in.
I still can't get in. My registration hasn't been validated. I'd like to start the join us process, but I can't make a post!![]()
You guys should really give SciFiHero.net a try. It's not a dedicated BSG site, started as a Stargate site under a different name, but it has since expanded and has a good BSG section with lots of info. Plus the people there are really friendly and helpful and very reasonable too, not like MJF over at ASAP.
I've been a member there for quite some years and I've found that people generally fit in quite readily, especially they're already used to forum based sites like TDH. You'll probably find some of members of TCF over there and there is a certain amount of cross pollination of info as well as stuff that's probably unique to SFH too.
Hey, everyone has their cliques and standards, even here, as a new guy I've noticed that there is a strong trend towards making things look 100% movie correct. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it can be intimidating for the new user. Just reading that whole thread about introducing clones showed the divide between people.
Fortunately, there are other sections here if your modelling isn't that pedantic, so there's something for everyone.
Perhaps there's a little of that over there?
