Boba Revelation Book Quote: Important

Stormrider

Well-Known Hunter
So this is a quote from Revelation:
Boba receives some new armour. New chest pieces, and a 'neck plate' so he doesnt end up like his father. Never seen any pics of a neck plage (gorget) but it fits between his collar and chin. They also mention that he doesnt wear grieves and should (Legs armour). The important quote is below after hes given the chest pieces in particular.

Fett:
'It doesnt look like mine, too new.'

Beviin:
"Ok, you want your dents in it? Ill paint dents on it if you want to look all roughy-toughy. Its baskar. It DOESNT dent."

He refused the new helmet. Kept the durasteel one:)

Decent book, the insight to mandalor fighting techniques is very interesting. As it pertains to fighting lightsabers that is.

Neck protection? is this an indication the Mandalorians are fixing to start another war on the republic?

In a way.

*spoilers follow, but not too bad*

Okay, the New Republic was crushed by the Yuuzhan Vong, and in the middle of that war, the Galactic Alliance was formed. They end up pwning the Yuuzhan Vong, and the Vong are banished to Zonama Sekot.

Now skip ahead 10 years.

The Correlians and some other planets form the Confederation of something or other, because they begin to dislike the GA. So a civil war starts. Now, the Mandalorians discovered a vein of beskar that they began to mine and make armor and ships with. They make a treaty with the Verpine (sp?) and promise to protect them, and also share technology.

Now, Jacen Solo. He goes evil. That's the best way to put it. Sol becomes the Sith Lord Darth Caedus, and while climbing the political ladder, gets to head the Secret police and even shares some similarities with Vader, his grandfather.

Alright, Caedus does some military Coup against Cal Omas, because as Jedi Loving as he was, Omas was... being stupid. So they remove him from power, and by some remanuvering of the law, becomes joint Chief of State with Admiral Niathal (she's a... Calamari person... can't remember atm.). Before, Pelleaon was the Grand Admiral, but he quit after Jacen got the GAG (Secret police.).

Anyway, Boba tells the other Mando that the Mandalorians are going to stay out of this war, because they need to reorganize everything and get Mandalore back to normal. Jacen and Niathal attack the Mando's allies, the Verpine, at the Roche Asteroids or something like that.

Niathal secretly makes a treaty, Caedus keeps attacking, relieved of position, yadda yadda yadda.

So to answer your question, no. Caedus attacked them first.

Keep in mind I haven't read the book, but that's about all I know about the situation. Getting it tomorrow though ^^

The story, is pulled from events leading up to ROTS and events that happen 50+ years out.

Mandolorians, increased in numbers presumably by 'defecting' or otherwise 'remants' of the clone army, as noted in the republic commando books. Until the last republic commando book hits, you wont really know why things are the way they are now.

The neck piece, was a curiosity, as it states if poor jango would have been wearing one, he would have survived that strike. Meaning that the neck protector piece is fairly common, at least on medium commandos.

The most interesting thing is, that baskar doesnt dent. He wouldnt have been able to put the 'dents' into his armour if he wanted to. The only way he could have even made it dented, is to fake it with paint.

Interesting quote really. Later in the same chapter Jaina slash fett across the abdomen hard with her lightsaber, and mearly takes off the paint, and leaves some carbon residue, nothing more.

Im looking forward to order 66 (book).

Which was also interesting to read. The last republic command book listed some of the 'orders'.

Order 65 was roughly 'if the chancellor abuses power, he is to be removed'. Order 66 is if the jedi are seen as a threat to the republic or its leadership, they are to be removed from leadership of the grand army by any means necessary.'

Jacen attacked for a very stupid or no reason at all? I like Han Solo, Ben, etc. yet I'm with the mandos here.

That just sounds real stupid. If it doesn't dent then how can you mold it or even bend it to shape?!

If you are able to produce armour out of it you'd probably be able to dent it...

Well technically, you cant 'dent' a folded, tempered samurai sword. If you have ever seen a documentary of one being made, the blade is actually not curved. Its forged perfectly straight with an angled tip. and the last step is to heat it to a certain temp, and then dunk it in water. That fast cool down shrinks the blade, more in the thick spots than the thin spots, causing it to take a quarter moon shape. It comes out bent, and ready to be finished.

Once they do the last dip in the water, the one that curves the blade, its then tempered, it will crack/chip, but will never bend.

Im assuming that the forging process tempers it, and it either gets destroyed or holds up.

Now, maybe he could 'forge' it with dents. I dont know.

As for Jacen attacking its a lot deeper than just that. Its a retread of the same 'im doing this for my love (his daughter instead of padme) and he justifies all his actions away as necessary for the greater good. And as for the mandos, as boba fett came to deal with his impending mortality, the death of his daughter (by solo) finding his grand daughter, and then his wife, his priorities have changed slightly, topped by him becoming mando'ade, the mando culture has a resurgence, and they have decided to worry about themselves for a while (while still doing some freelancing).

I think the mando have taken the stance of 'let the galaxy tear its self apart, and we will just profit from it'.

The 'jedi' powers have gotten quite a bit out of hand in the later books, but its still the best read around.

So now boba has a nice fresh set of undentable clean armor. And jango's helmet must of been garbage then since it had a pretty sizable dent. How the mighty have fallen, thanks expanded universe. :(

True.. but a samurai sword is only cruved in 1 axis. Any armour would probably be cruved in all 3 axis. Anyway.. back to our regular scheduled programming..
